  • Goaltender's have the ability to accept more information and make better decisions when moving with efficiency. When working with top level goaltender's they are often protective of what they bring to the table...the key to earning their trust is finding ways to effectively revolutionize their consistency through small, digestible but high value adjustments. Hey Pasco,
I found this to be very helpful. I worked on my stance and kept my shoulders over my knees and feet with arched back. Magic! Thanks for explaining this so well. It made a big difference for me.

Thank you for the video Pasco. Really liked how you demonstrated how a goalie can be constantly changing his head height from the ice when going into the butterfly.

Hi Pasco I just came across this video. Very well done and helpful. I would like to point out that when you drew the rectangles around the goalies head you did not draw them from the same starting position. The goalie on the right was down and the goalie on the left was up. Since the rectangle is anchored it makes a big difference. So when you ran the video and there movement the comparison is not the same. I think it will shed a bit of a different light on the goalie on the lefts head movement in comparison to the one on the right if you do. Thanks again!

Some good points made.. how many guys out there have had both hips bone on bone had replacements and got back into goal. Im going under the knife and have been advised I will never play goal again, ive played beer league hockey and last few years old timers so its not fast hockey. Mind you I would love to just walk again without pain and with pride firstly.

To be honest (thumbnail), I wouldn't call swapping your glove from left hand to right hand as a small adjustment. ;)

That is funny. They were team mates. 1 is Cal Peterson and the other is Cale Morris both Mike Richter award winners and Cal LA and PHI NHL. Don't change gloves.

I'm about to change gloves. I've got to give full right a try after going left due to equipment availability.

I think the goalie on the left is a blocking style goalie while the right is reactive which is shown through the pad roll/ knee bend. I think it changes enough to warrant a thought. Just my opinion, if I am wrong please reply and tag videos to help me learn thanks.

Hio Zach the goalie on the left is the starting goaltender for Notre Dame University NCAA div 1 , he worked his tale off and made some awesome adjustments winning the top goaltending award last season called the Mike Richter award. He has grown so much. He is a positional goaltender with immense patience and controlled athleticism. The other is Cal Pederson with the LA Kings, also a tremendous goaltender who really paved the way and leaving an awesome example fo his team make Cale Morris.

guy on right is also much taller with a wider stance so when he drops the level change is less.
but i think you are right
left side is sitting too low on his pads if he lifts his chest as he goes down it will keep him more in the box you drew.

You make a solid point! Height and stance definitely play a significant role in a goalie's performance. Adjusting that chest position can really make a difference in staying centered in the crease.
