Last night I had a game and faced 7 breakaways, saving all of them! I also got a shutout with 57 saves. So that went well!!!
EDY Lemieux-Aguilar bet what?
EDY Lemieux-Aguilar im confused
skeppy_poo_poo 69 it means, “sick” or “nice” in this sense.
Did I ask?
The Gaming Kid fucking really dude?
Another solid video. I don’t really agree with staying at the top of the crease. I always preferred backing in with the shooter a lil. I just found if he shooter gets you to bite one way you have no way to recover.
An hour away!!! Header down to Ottawa some time.
Agree with you...don't agree with that at all. Should challenge, stay patient do a couple hard c_cuts back stay on top of the shooter. Don't want to ever be caught flat footed in breakaway situations
superman6931 I just never wanted to be walked around or fake one move and I’m frozen on the to of left or right crease. Move back with the player try to make him run out of room.
@@ryana3679 I have approx. 10 years of goalie instruction and we never taught goalies to stand flat footed. You obviously do not want to back up like crazy need to control your speed but want to be about a stick length-stick length and a half from the shooter
Secret= never make first move
How to make a breakaway save
Step 1 - Don’t.
Step 2 - if they score, blame your defense
LOL

K Fortnite kid that’s ur steps
My left ear knows about sideline swap but my right one knows nothing about it...
Do you have a video of your stretch routine I seem to be pulling things easier as I get older 😢
Nice saves Trav ! If only I knew, I live about 20 minutes from Montreal...
Thanks buddy, great tips, will try these out next time at drop in, keep the tips coming, us who play who have never had a practice or a coach find these insights valuable, even if for you they are routine, they are extremely helpful!
Gave up 5 breakaways tonight... selling too quickly to one side. This video helped a ton
HEY glad it helped out buddy, 2 years later, almost 3. new video this morning ;)
The secret to stopping breaksways is to go back to putting sideline swap ads in the beginning of ur videos.
SparX Ad Daily Reminder Monday is your ad bud
You have some skills! Great video!
Secret to breakaways; challenge the shooter until the "decision point" which could be just before the top of the crease. There you make your move working the angle of the posts, because if the shooter decides to change direction you're at the angle to quickly change direction as well. I like to look at my crease in that instance as a triangle. Two points as the posts and the other as the top of the crease.
If you dont play the angle of the posts sure you might make the save but you're way out of position if theres a rebound and if the shooter decides to change direction. No offence to you Trav but the few times you got scored on in the video was because of this, and you've gotta keep your gloves out more. Once you move side to side your gloves gotta stay out to eliminate the angle of the puck. Once you bring those gloves in you're opening up the net, which means you're probably gonna get scored on. Just some constructive criticism
Interesting camera angles . I like it
Great video and topic. I'm not convinced though because like in this video, if I get scored on during a breakaway its because I didn't back up enough and couldn't reach the post with my skate as the shooter goes around me.
same here, often times i read the move but i just cant get back to my post quick enough, maybe it's because i dont rotate quickly enough too though
Trent Hegelheimer May be lacking full rotation to speed to and from the rotation. Noticing a trend here?
i painted the rink you're skating on, dope
I live about an hour away from Montreal good vid
Well, if you don’t follow the player, he’s only gonna have to drag the puck toward him to open up a lot of room and it’s also easier for him to get around you
Yeah, a good player will see you are stationary and accelerate around you faster than you can back up from a stationary position. I think this will work against shooters that don't pay attention or have already decided what move they will do, but I think players that watch the goalie and read them will burn a stationary goalie with their superior acceleration, but, I could be wrong. I'm gonna give it a try.
Get out to the hash marks or halfway to the hash marks so you can back up with the shooter.
Cool drone shot. Do you have any videos where the drone tracks the player at a really high speed?
Hey that was at university Concordia ? Damn, I live like 20 minutes from there ! I would have comme take photos of you in action if I knew you were in the area (and a few beers after :P )
4:00 oh my he looks like Holtby
Always go down too early. Always poke check. Always flinch at every move. Never leave the crease. And never forget.... always stack the pads at every chance you get.
STACK THE PADS!!
I thought I was the only full right goalie in existence.
Ed Meagher arena! My old stomping grounds as the 3rd string Stingers goalie in the early 90s. Shame I didn't know you were in town until you'd already left. I'd love to see how you set up your cam for the head shots. That was some excellent footage.
Paul Branchaud chunkiest thing you’ll ever see in person
@@trav4oilers Looking at myself in the mirror is the chunkiest thing I've seen lately.
Are you using a Go Pro helmet mount? I was looking at one of those and it looked like it wouldn't come off once i stuck it on. I don't want to mess up my paint job.
Ponton Soccer Academy negative, a concoction of my own mounts
These videos are highlight reels
When do you decide which direction to cut back, i.e. what do you look for?
Adam Cordner all depends on the angle the player cuts
Great video as usual. But what's with the "don't back up with the shooter" tip? You're backing up with the shooter on basically every breakaway in the video. And making some very nice saves as a result. Would you say your philosophy is to back in far enough that you can reach out with your foot and touch the post when you have to?
I’m a lacrosse goalie and low key these videos relate to my sport to like the patients factor and not to back in
Thank you
I’m an Peewee AAA and this helped a lot
Glad this helped you buddy, thanks for watching. Check out todays new video too :)

Go to sideline stop to save breakaways
only way to do it my friend. thanks for being a channel member ;)
@@trav4oilers Man this was 2 years ago. Travs reliability is unmatched unless it’s stopping a puck.
Wow Trav, you can make a save on a 14 year old. How old are you 23, and your like 6/4
No hate, man. Just a Joke
Nah is that DDO?
???
Here's the real way. Be athletic lol. And as a goal if you refuse to back in sometimes, you can get burned if there's a fake shot.
Videos 2 years old, philosophy has changed a bit since
How do u like our roads? Pretty shit eh👍🏻
Philippe Macnab construction thou
Don't put Trav in net, that's how. A shooter touter would more stop biscuits than him. Lol!
