- Don't chase the I saw the $22 surge not far from me. I drove my car over the surge zone, and the surge went away. e surges. A must-watch video to see for yourself that the Uber surge is not real.
I'm a 9 year driver, my advice is never chase any surge, and do not sign up for streaks or bonuses. I've discovered if you sign up for bonuses then they underpay you a little on each ride in order to compensate for the bonus.
Also, if you're on a streak or bonus they won't show you the surges until the bonus time is over.

I drive in Minneapolis, Minnesota and I can tell you how many number of times the map shows bright red surge and I'm already in the exact area and I don't even get a request much less the fake surge money. Uber is evil.

You can end up getting that surge, but then you'll either get terrible trips, low ball trips (that offset the surge), or get sidelined with no trips.

This happens to me all the time. Last time i had $26 surge, as soon as i go there, it disappeared but sometimes switching to Uber Pet On then off back to Uber x helps

The other thing is that if you were to drive in it you be surprised you would have got the $22. I know because it's happened to me often. I gotten the surge amount!
I wish they would go back to the old decimal points style surge, rather than these bullshit heat map dollar amounts. They are still charging passengers the old style for example 1.5X’s, 1.8X’s, 2.0X’s, etc. and they’re still taking 50%-60% of what the driver takes home compared to what passengers are paying.
Next time try to remember exactly where the surge is located, and even if it disappears, it is really still there, if you drive over the exact location, you will receive it. What Uber really does is it hides it when you get close to trick you to think it’s gone. Just keep moving in that direction and you’ll receive the rate. 👏

Exactly my thoughts, that's why I always click on that surge amount and follow the directions so it takes me to the exact location. This driver was just following the surge just by looking at the map.
Also, it may only be one or two riders that keep getting their rides declined causing the surge.
One thing I know the surge is there and the rider is charged but Uber keeps that money for themselves it’s a scam
I’ve noticed the same thing. My home was in a “very high” area. I went to my car, went online and the surge immediately disappeared. Then chased another surge, a few blocks away and it did the same thing. Once I arrived in the area, the surge immediately disappeared. They are playing a game with us drivers. Baiting us to chase surges to allow them fulfill their rides without paying us the surge represented on the map.

I appreciate your content so first, thanks for doing what you do. Now with respect to this video, I think when you get close to the $22 surge, you needed to expand the area of the map with you two fingers. The EXACT area that you have to cross to get this surge is a very very small black dot. I have had it where the little black dot was located in the back of a private companies park lot before which I manage to drive to but certainly not easily. One time I drove to the point, expanded and found that the little black dot was located in the middle of a lake!...obviously not right. So the bottom line is...if you see a surge that you are close enough to to drive to reasonably...first expand with two fingers and find the little black dot and make sure it is a place where you can drive the car.
Yes here in Orlando Florida it has happened many time. When I arrive to the surge and it will not give it to me I turn it off for 5 minutes. Or cancel any rides without the surge.
The surge number disappeared because you drove under it. The best way to get it is to click the surge number and it will navigate you directly to the surge.
Every time you decline a trip it refreshes the app. Use the Uber pet option so you don’t get flooded with request and grab the surge!
Make sure to zoom in on the map to get the correct location. One ur less than a block from the right $ sign you’ll have it.
What you’re showing is a well knowing practice by both Uber and Lyft. They show a nice surge or bonus on the map, but in reality, no one gets this +$21. It’s there only to lure drivers in. They’ve doing this for years, all over the country. Nothings new.

You are still lucky to see these dollars amount during surge. In Dallas Texas they changed it, now even in surge you make around $25, or $30 at most, with very high surge areas with purple areas. Because if you get $10 ride the most surge price you will get is $15 because maximum surge is 1.5x.
Drivers in DFW are always accepting horrible paying trips. $15.00 for 15 minutes away 30 minute rides
Totally agree. Lyft does same thing in ATL airport. Surge 5-18$. You drive through it - 0. By the time you get to parking surge is gone or dropped by a lot

You have to keep going don’t stop - when you get close to the surge it disappears but it is still there. Once you pass through it the amount will show up as your surge. Trust me try it . I don’t know why Uber does that and once you pass through it the number will pop back up but you have to fully pass through it!
Uber want you to have a boat or helicopter to get it. But, they charge the customer surge and pay us regular. That's why we are driving smarter now.
That number went away because your arrow went on or very close to it, when that happen you can just use 2 of your fingers to zoom into the map and you will still see it, technically it is still there even tho u r not seeing it. Now in terms of actually getting that that surge, you actually have to be directly on top of it to get the number its showing but the closer you get u will see the surge at the botton of your screen will keep going higher
They have brought pricing gimmicks that have always existed everywhere in the market industries to the transportation industry essentially making the drivers customers of their own gig. Pay to work basically!
Uber screws us drivers like you wouldn't believe. Now they put up these pretty colors but you will not see your surge amount until after ride is over. Used to be you could lock in a surge but those days are gone.

I think the surge works like this. When the surge show in certain area example $20 and you are like 5 minutes away from the surge. the app give a estimate amount like $5 extra for sure. but the $20 you can get them just if you pick up in that area not if you drive to the $20 surge area.
To avoid this you need 2 phones! 1 for work & 1 just to see the Uber map while you’re driving a pax !
When this bug with surge happens you just need to switch to Uber pets or eats Only and then go back again to Uber X !

I’ve noticed at the BNA airport in Nashville, TN they do the same thing. They put a “very high” code on the map yet the (surge pay) doesn’t sync to their map.
Another thing happening here in Nashville is the queue area is small and often near 50% filled with XL and Black cars leaving only a few spots for X drivers to enter Queue. Thus, you are forced to circle the queue and not qualify for the surge or pick ups at the airport. Doubt they can get a larger queue area from the airport operator but they can expand the electronic footprint of the queue.

You've gotta zoom in more. It might be on a parallel side street. It's just a visual thing, the surge is still there, you're just not right on it.

Uber did the same to me. I drove 26 minutes to get a $120 dollars surge bonus, actually the bonus shows up in the middle of the Lake,their is no way so I can take my car to lake, unfortunately I pulled up my car on side road of bridge and I take 5.25 surge . 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

No sir. It's actually still there, if you double tap on the screen where the 21 dollar surge was it will still be there. It does that as you get close to it but it's still there until the whole screen changes then it will go away.
I don't know why it disappears as you are getting close maybe to discourage you for continuing to drive there in hopes you will turn around. If the number just disappears keep going to the surging area but if the whole screen changes the surging areas then that's when the actual large dollar amount surge is gone for sure. This happens to me and I have discovered and it's what I do and it works for me.

If the surge is still there, wouldn't it reflect/update at the bottom of the screen once he got there? It didn't update beyond, "+$5.50 next trip Minimum surge". It should have climbed to at least +$10. I mean, he was right on top of it. Yeh, fake surge is real. Happened to me too.

Lol if you zoom in on the screen it will show you the $22 dollar . You need to just keep driving towards the surge so you can get whatever the surge is. It's not fake it will always disappear when you get close to it. Just zoom in on your phone and it will reappear

The new surge map won't have any numbers. It just has a color. 1 color for all surges. You don't know if it's a $1 surge or $30 surge. It's a 40% pay cut.
