Finding Mines/Prospects Using LIDAR

- In this video, I explore a mountain side in search of what looks to be a possible mining adit or prospect that I spotted using LIDAR maps. On the way I find some quartz and quartz veins that contain some small crystal pockets, and pyrites. LIDAR can be a valuable tool and can be used for many different reasons.

I've been fallowing Jeff's channel for years. I saw that video too. I wonder how detailed LIDAR would be if it was created using the drone. Lots of cool technology out there.

Bro you found the motherlode but seems you dont know what to do with it for gold extraction? That last chunk with the orange and purple quartz should be crushed and roasted. Build a big campfire up there and roast the sulphides with a hallow metal pipe. All that white bulquartz turns blood red with the sulphur is roasted out of its iron only then can you pan it out to see the gold content.
I'm not sure there is much gold to be had here because if there was, you would think the prospectors would have kept digging and eventually create a mine. What is interesting is that there is no information that I can find for any historical activity for this location. I have collected some samples from a different quartz vein in the area that they seemed to have missed. I've been working on building a homemade rock crusher but I'm unsure that I will have time to do my own extraction anytime soon.

Did you do your own lidar scans or use a service? I have a few locations where "treasure" has been buried. Since it's cash it can't be found with metal detectors so I've been researching other options.
I used a service, OpenTopography.org. I would like to learn to do my own with one of those LIDAR drones. As for finding the treasure, good luck to you! I think doing your own LIDAR scan would give you better resolution but I'm not fully sure how they work when you do your own scans.

For the LIDAR shown in my video, I used OpenTopography.org. However, most of the data there is restricted and I only have access to it because I have a university email. If you want some lidar data of Washington State, they have almost the entire state for free using their lidar portal. Besides that, you just have to search around for it online. @GeoForge thank you ! I did find several options for lidar, but I'll need a desktop comp before I can link the lidar data to Google earth and get the veiw I'm looking for.
