  • This is a tour of an old Silver & lead mine located in Idaho. This mine is mainly a single tunnel that stretches just past 800 ft. Near the end, the mine splits into two different directions before coming to an end shortly after. Inside the mine you can fine some quartz veins along with joints, and possibly a fault with spring water pouring from it. The rail track has been removed but some of the wood ties still remain.

I had the same thought when I saw that too. Yeah never know what lies in the deep.

The sheets of metal are to lay down on the floor before blasting to facilitate easier mucking.

The ceiling of a mine is called the "Back." The end of the mine where the digging has stopped is called the "Face." Because this was a silver and lead mine, the ore found in this mine would have been Galena and is quite Shiny itself and forms tiny all the way up to medium crystals of various shapes. I did not see any traces of Galena in this mine as you were walking through it, so it was a Bust. The Stalactites hang from the ceiling or the Back and miners often call it flowstone.

Thank you for subscribing to the channel. I'm no longer in Idaho, I have moved across the country to attend college to get my masters degree.
