Bless Your Business and thank you for tuning in :)
My business
Shirt: $5.00
Design: $1.00
Packaging: $4.00
Shipping: $6.00
Total: $16.00
Sale: $25.00
Profit: $9.00
Start small and work your way up , I started with vinyl had a lot of local orders then got a sublimation printer I’m now on the way for a dtf printer
Charge the customer for shipping.
@@twitchgxgge Yes my package is $4... I have custom packaging with my brand on it and plus I put other things in my packages with my orders. So everything comes out to be about $4
@@Yosh-doesnt-understand I don't have my customers pay for shipping. That's one of the things my customers love about my business that I don't charge shipping.
What is the name of your company
Yeah but you have employee wages, electric, rent if in a space. You might also have to design the graphic, this costs time
What d9 you charge then?
Humble and patience is key
I would consider these business expenses. Cost per product should really just include the raw materials per order. I also personally include shipping expense in this as well because my business provides free shipping, but his is optional if you want it in your product costs.
That’s looking at your entire business as a whole. This is just looking at the unit economics of one item/sale.
Yeah but that's all when your business gets really big dude 😅
Sell them cheaper and then they sell faster connect them to the community soemhow and people will want them or make them to be designed around an event and then they’ll sell like hotcakes. Like music fest tees sell out quick and the venues make their own but everyone has one of those it’s the artisan ones that are professional that blow peoples mind cuz they’re like whoa where did you get that wtf
FACTS!
What about the electricity, packaging and shipping costs?
I like the way you think. You’re thinking big time. I’ve been trying to get a press n all that. You can sell at a swap meet or funerals and a lot of friends then the word spreads no shipping yet once you climb to the top…attack it bulk only or monthly subscriptions. And side hustle funerals mainly. That will be two incomes off the one machine
Mannnnnnn.i was just thinking if I print for bar and restaurant joints 👆🏿
What about the packaging and the shipping and postage costs?
On a $7 shirt subbed, I would charge approx. $22 for a gross profit of about $6.50.
Awesome and thanks for sharing ❤I totally agree.
You forgot CODB. That $17 will be $2 once you pay for literally everything else, including your own salary if you can afford it.
What printer do you suggest at an economical rate, and how large is the print bed? Also what about direct to Film Printing and White Ink Printing?
Also do you have any thoughts on direct to Garment Printing and If So What Type of Printer Would You Use For That?
I currently have a press and a cricket cutter that I've never used because I've just been using a drop shipping company to print and ship for me so i am lost. I'm thinking about expanding to doing events where I do custom shirts at the events, I'd love to see a video about that if you'll have one.
What about shipping costs
Customer pays shipping so that shouldn’t matter.
shipping and fees is another 6-9 dollars
Loving the background music
What blank shirts do you use
This is a convenient way to calculate profit in a business, skipping the cost of equipment, yet including the cost of supplies used directly for an order. There is a percentage of wear each item puts on a piece of machinery. If you don’t factor in the cost to repair and replace equipment, business won’t last long.
I'd say that depends on the equipment used, but I don't agree with his formula, it is to short sighted to actually take it anywhere. Been doing this for profit since 85', this business has always had the get rich quick for low investment, but it has never been the reality, it is why there is a ton of knock off equipment being resold constantly. Bad planning, poor knowledge and wrong motivation to be in the business.
How much do you have to set aside for taxes?
You also have to factor in the cost of getting the sell.
My only complaint about Heat Transfer designed shirts is the image doesn't last long. The image cracks and separates.
This is sublimation where the print is dyed into the fabric forever. See some examples at the bottom of this link from customers:
silkysocks.com/products/blank-white-t-shirt
You colors are so vibrant. My colors are so dull.
@@ms.c3977 hmm are you sublimating on High polyester content item? All the items we make are between 85-100% polyester on the sublimation area which allows for vibrant sublimating
@@SilkySocks No. Ive been sublimating on HTVRONT's HTV for dark colors.
...who buys them? Because no one buys mine. I even went to a flea market, tried to sell em for $10, and still only 1 out of 100 people would buy one.
do you have the shirts posted on different socials? if not that could really help
Marketing can help you
Start selling to friends and family let them help you push the brand and try all social media platforms. Ive been doin it for a long time and its hard i know
@@BINKSTARZZZanywhere I can see your designs?
@@BINKSTARZZZlol friends and family are the ones who want all the freebies
The thing is that if you order 100 shirts from Indonesia after shipping fees are put into place each T Shirt cost around $3 , but this only work for fashion brands and not custom designs😢
In order to make half profit I would have to sell it for 28-30 my costs are 19 for t shirt, paper, design takes time so include that with costs
I want to learn to
Make my own shirts for my small business. Could you give me a run down on what I would need?
I’m looking to mostly make custom hoodies, t shirts, long sleeves, hats. I would also in the future do other things as well but those are my main focus for now. I would appreciate a response and some help! Thank you very much!
How I started mine depending on what your design is you want to buy a standard cricket explorer 3. A really good printer for me I have a HP instant ink DeskJet 2755E. & than a heat press
I would also recommend getting a tablet or a computer if you do not already own one it will help you have a more creative space for your designs
It’s pretty much hot topic or Spencer’s or any tee shirt selling store so yeah I see it
I would rather have a plain white tee
Link for the machine?
@@JaayleeMusiq You’d need a sublimation printer, a heat press and some blank shirts for sublimation. We sell the blank shirts. But the printer and press there are many kinds.
We used the heatpress nation 16x24” black series press here
@@SilkySocks okay
Add t shirt blank shipping.
where can I get one of this machine?
I didn’t realize you actually said silky socks. I thought I heard wrong 😂 Plus, I didn’t read the handle name. Just woke up from a nap lol
haha lots of people accidentally say Silly Socks
Which website to purchase the Blank t-shirt please?
Walmart?
Jiffy shirts or bulk appeal
@bhutch216 where do you buy your t-shirts from?
Pls how do i get shirt or hoodie, where can i get them at an affordable price n still good quality thanks n God bless 🙏👍
Do people actually buy your custom tshirts for $25? I find it hard to get anyone to buy 1 tshirt. What marketplace is best? How can you get people to your own shopify/etsy/etc? Even on a cheaper tshirt like $10 i still struggle to make sales. $25 is like designer prices, i find it hard to justify that as an individual vs designer brands where theres a lot of demand.
Nothing in life is easy. Especially now with consumer spending down and lots of competition and suppliers. But short answer YES people do buy custom shirts, custom socks, custom sleeves from us and from our customers. There is a market for everything. The challenge is standing out from the noise. Having a brand that people care about + exemplifying quality work, being able to Sell, and deliver on all your promises! I have another video that helps with marketing tips i’ll link it for you below

@@SilkySocks thank you man that's helpful
What’s the things you need to do this
Shown here was a print process called sublimation.
It will require:
- A heatpress
- A sublimation printer with paper and inks so you can print your own transfer sheets
- A blank shirt by silky socks or make sure it’s a sublimation blank shirt (high in polyester content) and white faced so it can be printed with this process.
- Craft paper used for cover sheets and that’s pretty much it!
What printer do you use for the design?
So does it transfer the ink to the shirt or is it like the vinyl where it cracks and pits after a drying cycle.
What paper is that??
Sublimation vs dtf with one you are using
Electricity, time to make designs shipping costs or do they pay it?
Do you have a link to the printer
And time/wages
Can you do the same thing with black shirts
Is that cotton t-shirt?
You cant use cotton for sublimation at least not 100% cotton i think its htv that you can use cotton with idk
Hi would you know where I can print per order?
Yes you can customize 1 shirt with us on silkysocks.com
Lol. The dream😅
May I please have some info on the printer and transfer sheets that you use
I use a dtf printer came with roll of film($200) ink ($200) printer combine total plus shipping ($4000) heat press around 4 to $1,000. Hope this helps. Sublimation printers are $500-$1000
What happens if you get 85 orders in one night? Will you crash out with fatigue?
song name?
How many shirts 👕 per order
How much paper & ink can you get for $1
No i don't agree with the money formula, how much is rent, electricity, shopify site costs, credit card fees, how much was your shipping label machine, how much was your desk, computer, printer, gas for your car to send out packages to ship them. How much is the shipping label. What is your packaging costs. After all of the factors how much is your profit margin?
A lot of people work from home.
And a lot of things you mentioned are fixed costs. We are not looking at the fixed costs here. Rather the unit costs also referred to as the unit economics.
what's a good cheap sublimation printer?
I think you forgot shipping
Shipping in Canada is very expensive.
@@AWOL1969 yea dude
Are the shirts polyester?
Yeah, it's poly
What kind of machine is that?
I pay 9 a shirt cant afford to make a bulk order plus the transfers between 1 to 3 dollars so $12 plus shipping, prob only make about $6 a shirt

The problem with those shirts, is no one what's a complete square in the middle of their chest, especially when what they might want isn't in a square.
Bro ! How much the price of this machine heat press printing
You can buy various heatpress machines ranging from just a couple hundred bucks to thousands of dollars. The one in the video is about $500 or so. It depends on the size you buy and the brand and make of it.
I recommend looking into 16x20” or 16x24” (shown here) to start!

Real deal is how to sell them. Probably via paid marketing. That eats up all the margin
True. I’m a fan of organic videos and content over paid. Paid burns money, organic is harder theoretically but each piece of content you make now you can post on like 5-6 different social platforms and try and reach lots of people that way, and just keep doing it.
100 back t-shirt designs will be sold at full discount
what song is this?
I love how they say the blank is $7. I can make a shirt with all overhead cost included for $4.34. I sell for $18 as a one off and it’s $13.66 profit per shirt. Sublimation is not a cheap or profitable way to make shirts. I made almost a million dollars last year from home.
How could u do all that for 4:34$ ? I have a theme page on Instagram almost at 100k thinking of selling merch but your idea of having all this at that price sounds perfect just wondering how you do it

What t shirt do you ise
There is a difference in quality between a cheap shirt and a nice shirt. I would not pay $25 for a shirt.
Yup sure is. Our shirts are priced at a premium for the blank because of the quality, thickness and R&D and finishing. Customers love them. It doesn’t matter if you’d pay $25 or not because you may have customers that would pay that for a custom shirt with their custom image, event or logo on them. And if that’s the case you can make it happen and do their orders! For more about our shirt visit the link here: silkysocks.com/products/blank-white-t-shirt?variant=41253592662206
