As someone who’s spent years handling all production and distribution for my custom goods by myself, POD has been a game changer. I’m now able to offer more designs without red lining my work capacity and as a result, I’m able to leave products available for longer. POD also makes it easier to offer variants of a design like different colorways and supplemental products.
Update: I had to discontinue POD as my designs kept getting stolen and sold overseas. I learned once you upload a design to a POD site, it could end up anywhere :/

Sure but it cost you much more, you dont have control on the shipping time and issues, packaging customisation, its more expensive and you have less control on your things, but have all the advantages you said, its difficult choice.

As someone with no experience who just needs to stop coming up with excuses and TRY something (maybe even boldly fail and something) I appreciate your approach to this video. I spent all week getting my first set of designs set up and was looking up all the do's and don'ts and "what I wish I had known before...." videos while I worked. The day I was about to upload my first listing, one of the "don't even waste your time" people popped up. For once I just took a deep breath, and kept going on with my plan for the day to just start this thing. Your video helped. Thanks :)

Facts!!! Honestly, youtube is "cool" sometimes but so many people have their personal experiences and a lot of times their videos aren't accurate reviews but more for views.
"Here's why I hate" or "The worst thing you can do" or "NEVER USE THIS!"
I've been running businesses and the number 1 thing you have to do is get started. If it's up to watching youtubers, a person will never start. 4
I remember as a teen wanting to start a music business. There was this guy at guitar center always like "Dont buy this one because". Basically it was the $200 item to get me started when he thought I should just start off with a $5000 item.
Eventually I ignored him and years later I'm making good money. Sometimes it's best to go with your instincts and ignore others

Thanks to both these comments. There are too many videos that seem to scare away people about to start and get them to stop as

Just sharing my experience with Teespring now called Spring. Back in 2019, I did some shirts with them, I ordered myself a sample and the print colors were all wrong. It took them a few tries to get the colors right.
Fast forward two months ago, I made a hoodie design and ordered myself 2 samples. They were perfect!
I wanted to order another sample, but for some reason made a mistake and ordered from my own website, not a sample. First, that order did not show up in my list of purchases (prob because it was not ordered as a sample) So, I ordered another one (still not a sample). Omg! These hoodies were horrible!! The print was totally off! The samples were very professional looking and looked shiny, the non-samples looked like a first grader just slapped some paint on the hoodie. The letters were not even aligned. You would think you had double vision when you read them!
I complained to Spring, and customer service was responsive. They issued a replacement. After two weeks the 2nd non-sample order came in, with the exact same issues. I was told, no that is not the replacement, that was your second order. I'm like, OK... so I now have two of these ugly hoodies. The replacement came in, and it was worse printing than the previous two (non-samples) that were sent! So now, I have 3 ugly hoodies, and waiting for Spring to send me a refund (for the 2nd non-sample order)
My take is that if you order a sample, they make it look good so you go on and do print-on-demand with them. But when your customers order, who knows if they get a totally different print quality.
    My story. My experience.

@@tyronthompson2707 I have thought about it because I love teaching. I have trained many people in corporate America, and have always received positive feedback, and have been told several times that I am the best teacher they have ever had. I am extremely patient. The problem is that I'm a very private person and not a fan of seeing myself in pictures or videos, or hearing my voice. I get complimentson my voice, but I think I sound so weird! My family was telling me I should do a channel and I had an idea of creating an alter. I was thinking that might give me the confidence I would need. Nothing too crazy, just something so people who know me wouldn't instantly know me. My 15 year old daughter told me that would be super weird and not a good idea.

I've been looking into creating designs and selling them via etsy and other providers. Using print on demand is such an essential part of growing your business, growing a customer base and obviously creating an income. I live in the middle of nowhere in the UK and it is essential for me to use POD as the nearest post office for me is over an hour's walk away (I don't drive). Thanks for your wise words. I would say that POD companies can't afford to produce poor quality items as they will lose custom themselves.

You could, but it would be cheaper to find a local printer and get it screen printed

More info on the behind the scenes stuff please!! Like how much you need in the bank! Most people dont know that you actually need to pay for pod up front! What people buy, you need to fund yourself first, it aint free, or cheap.
And more in depth about the returns process 👍🏼
    Otherwise, great video 😊

Its too bad its impossible to use print on demand for blankets in canada. I wasted 72hrs, trying all the POD companies and its all in USA or the one in Canada has pretty much only 1 star reviews and people say do not ruin your reputation using this brand for your business. It really sucks to live in Canada. a small cheap 50x60 blanket ends up at 86,89 with the $39 shipping fees and average 20 days delivery. What's the point of even trying. I don't want to sell t-shirts or mugs.

Now just starting out from absolutely nothing… would it be better to not use POD and fulfill orders yourself? Because I don’t think I’m going to get a single sale. Lol. And I do love actually seeing the product being made and learning about it. I personally am working on designing stickers in a particular niche🙂 I definitely see POD useful if you are making sales

If you’re starting out, this is the way to go because once you put items in your shop, you never have to think about it again. Then put THAT link in all of your social media profiles. Try working on creating the art and applying to products a couple of days a week and then work on your stuff a couple of days a week, then use one day to promote and network via social media. Make a Linktree and put all of your offerings/links to shop on there. It will all kick in at some point, but organizing your time and energy is important to avoid burnout. I’ve been in the clothing biz for over 20 years and this POD avenue is so simplified compared to even two years ago, it’s insane. I built a shop on Printify and have 27 products up so far lol and I have ADHD, 😂 so if I can do it, so can you. ❤ best of luck (and ps, your friends and fam will be excited to support you and spread the word, when they see all the work you’ve put in) 🤍

Turn on the manual constantly Chase new customers because you’ll never keep consistent ones.

    • @HustleNinjas
      @HustleNinjas  11 місяців тому +1

Heavy loaded question with no right answer…
You could test a break even price to see if the design does well and gain a customer if you’re selling on your own platform…
You could sell for a decent margin and see if it’s worth fulfilling in house if the demand gets high…
You could sell for a healthy margin and continue to sell through pod…

@@HustleNinjasThe only thing that has stopped me from starting POD is the packaging that they are delivered to the customer. I want it spot on and branded. Small piece of the puzzle, but yet - big piece too.
