One is probably Metallica's best written song, everything from the lyrics to the song structure is just perfect.
Fade To Black is up there as well. Absolute masterpieces.
It's bumpy and smooth at the same time. The interlude is brilliant, those transitions in particular
@@SwepEntertainment I see fade to black as the foundation that created one, they're very similar songs in structure in case of 3 solos at different points of the song and starting with power before turning thrash
Kirk was not happy with the solo.
@@maksphoto78 I tries to play it better live ever since. With varying success

Holds an acoustic
The intro is basically an acoustic intro. That's why he has it.
Now if he still has it on other videos not including clean intros then that would be metal of him.

There are two kinds of people:
Those that love One
And those that haven’t heard it.
i have heard it many times before i like it. as he say, becouse of "boring" intro.. always skip that song. and then when i heard the end of song, after solo... my mind blow! now i listen from start to begining. the bild up is masterpiece
Metallicas most iconic solo. Hands down. Most iconic drum parts. Most iconic video. Most iconic vocals. Most iconic riffs. Most iconic bass(kinda). Legendary song.

For me Day that never comes is such a song.
I sincerely and adamantly, from the bottom of my heart, hope not.
I remember before Hardwired came out, I saw a fan online who thought the song Murder One was going to be a sequel to One. Everybody knew beforehand that the song was going to be a tribute to Lemmy, except for this guy. He had this whole theory about how it was going to be about killing the soldier in One as to pretty much put him out of his misery. I felt kinda bad for the guy because he had this whole thing built up in his head about what he thought this song would be, while literally everybody else (correctly) knew what it was really gonna be about.

5:19 finally! Someone acknowledges that riff nobody ever talks about it or plays it in their covers
I find the acoustic guitar harmonies on top of that riff to be better. They compliment the riff so well
When Ride the Lightning came out, those who loved Kill 'Em All didn't expect to hear a bunch of power ballad influences especially Fade to Black. "One" made both thrash metal and power metal ballad collide.
“One” is my all time favorite song. Such a masterpiece.
when someone asks for my favorite song, I want to come up with something fancy and edgy.. but the more I think about a favorite song, the more my brain screams "OOOOOONE!!!!!"

Maybe my favorite Metallica song… a sober and austere intro clean main riff, a bridge in D major thats makes us think of peaceful and beautiful memories before war and violence, a perfect and solid interlude before a strong and dramatic end. A real masterpiece. And the solo is great.

This was basically the song that has gotten me into metal. Many years ago I played this song as a young kid in guitar hero three. It was my favorite song in that game. My dad got the album ajfa on iTunes and I have ever since loved metal.

Such a sad and heavy song with ONE of their best and hardest solos ( in my opinion ) . I like the song , because it reminds me a lot on my grandmother

Great breakdown and analysis, thank you!
Great video! It drives me crazy that the band NEVER plays the heavy interlude the way it is on the album. On this video you hear a quick piece of the section I'm talking about from 12:20 to 12:23. To me it's one of the best moments of any Metallica song they've ever written yet they don't play it live.
I love that part so much, and the heavy interlude overall.
Very cool video man! I do hope this turns into a (semi) regular series, cause this is a really cool concept. Great job!
This is gold, thank you so much for making this! I will consider donating when i can!

Excellent analysis , man! Great dissect of one of the song whose structure and crescendo I most admire and have had lots of fun playing it!!!
This is actually the song that got me into metal over 12 years ago now. I was 8 years old when I heard this song. And is was so amazingly composed it was able to hook me into the genre after listening to pretty much nothing but Queen and the Beatles for the prior part of my life. It's not a song I listen to a whole lot anymore but one I'll always have love for because it changed my whole life within 10 simple minutes.
I've been waiting for this for so long!!

Great job Andriy. This is the right way. Keep on fighting.
"It does not say much, but invites you to tune in for the story, which is going to be unfolding and escalating."
So very well said. Always though about this intro like this, just never put it to words like that. Great job!

From the first time I saw the video (when it was released), I was astounded by the beauty of this song, and haunted by the video. I have seen this video several hundred times since then, and it never ceases to amaze me. The greatest video I ever saw. One of the greatest metal songs I've ever heard.

Didn't understand half of the video but at all I'm really loving this channel ❤️ you probably the greatest Metallica fan ever, you have analyzed everythinggg 😂
Thanks for that awesome content.
One of my favourite Metallica song
Another great technical analysis.
You are the best man! I enjoyed so much this video, and it reminds me (for some reason) the S&M version of “One”, the progression chord 7:57 “Am-G-B-C” that you were talking of, the arrangements that Michael Kamen composed in that part are the most beautiful thing I’ever heard of, very powerfull arrengements in this song makes it the best in that concert (IMO).
I can play all parts exept the fast af solo ;(. Great video Andry! This is (for me) Metallica's most complicated and deep song. I mean their are many different elements in it. The theory behind the licks is beautiful and the lyrics are also very touching. I appreciate the time you spent on the video. Keep rockin'!
Do more of this kinds of video! I really like to listen on this kinds of things

Andriy Vasylenko long time indeed
I would also suppose that One is the song on AJFA with the best audible bass, especially on the machinegun part
That "foreshadowing" is one of my favorite Metallica traits...Cliff used it, most notably in the iconic CHUG part on For Whom the Bell Tolls...where he plays the riff on bass behind sustaining guitar chords, before they all join together and smash it.
Couldn't agree more with the bridge, this is definitely ONE of my favorite riffs ever, I mean the part that James plays
Dude, you thought about this exactly the way I did. I'm gonna check out the long version of the video. This song IS brilliant. The intro is actually the first thing I ever learned on guitar (obvious reasons), but I can still entertain my mind just thinking about different aspects of the song.
Great video. Wow. Learnt so much! Thanks
