I’ve visited Seattle last year and again this year (2019). If you are staying in downtown Seattle I recommend NOT renting a car and just using Lyft or Uber. I rented a car my first time going and it was a waste of money for sure. We only drove it from the airport to the hotel and back. The food was really good. My favorite place to eat was Zeke’s pizzeria. I went both times for Labor Day weekend. The weather around that time was perfect!
Thomas Wright no hate taken over here! I should’ve said that I’m a pizza lover and that place was really good and the drinks were very good too. I tried other places like woody’s and biscuit bitch but Zeke’s stood out to me the most. I’ll have to try the places you mention the next I make it out there 😄
The weather in the summer is just about perfect not too hot (75 degrees) compare to other areas. In the winter it never gets very cold high 40’s but it does get dark early with short days because of it’s northern location (opposite in the summer with long days). As far as attractions you didn’t mention the Museum of Flight (almost as good as the Smithsonian) and the Glass Museum as they are rank high with the Pike Place Market.

If you’re at the Space Needle make time to visit the Chihuly Glass Garden, the Music Project museum and the Children’s museum if you have little ones with you. Seafood? He left out Dungeness crabs, Quilcene oysters, salmon and many other seafood that originates here in Washington. Also the weather is great in July and August, as well as September.

When we went to Seattle we did not do our due diligence on transportation from the airport to downtown and we got an expensive taxi. Thanks for the info on the light rail.
Late spring, all summer, and very early autumn tend to be sunny and lovely. Winters are actually pretty mild most years. As you mentioned, Sept. is a GREAT time to come visit.

So much easier to avoid the Homeless Drug Addicts and Panhandlers staying out of the Downtown area! Hope you clean up your city someday but I seriously doubt that will ever happen cause you're just too COOL!
Thank you for making sure people call it PIKE Place Market. I actually clapped when you said that. 🤣 I've watched so many of your other videos and finally found this on on my birth-city. Good job on the highlights!! I'd also point out we pronounce it I-vers, not I-vars. And the Space Needle is 605 feet. I interned there, so I do love it, but another good view is from the Columbia Tower. Less expensive and higher up!! 900 feet!! Another whacky place to check out is Archie McFee's - all sorts of strange gags and gifts. A famous burger stop that Seattleites hold sacred is Dick's Burgers (our equivalent of LA's In-n-Out.) Take the water taxi from the DT Seattle side over to Alki and eat at Marination right at the water taxi dock. SO GOOD and then you can take amazing photos of Seattle from across the water.

Great video on Seattle ! You give so much wonderful information, lucky you got a sunny day to film. The Gum wall so gross haha! Enjoyed this video. Thanks Chris
Seattle has less homeless and crime than San Francisco. It actually feels pretty safe at night in downtown. Just don’t go outside downtown at night. During day time, it’s very safe. There will be homeless people playing instruments near Pike Place Market, but not as much drug addicts than SF. Seattle is a fairly pretty and nice in City. It’s one of the safest large cities in America. Just still be aware of your surroundings, don’t leave things in your car, and you’re all set to enjoy Seattle. (And Washington)
Property crime is the only thing I'd be worried about (leaving things in the car in particular) - any sort of violent crime is very rare even at night outside of downtown/Capitol Hill..
I'm four years late, however, fun fact about the Street Signs in the international district, depending on where within said district you are, the brown signs can be Chinese Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, and I believe maybe even Vietnamese. Just left Seattle to move to South Carolina. Love the weather and the people in Charleston but I admit to being a tad homesick. PS Portland has a rivalry with us, not the other way around. They hate us cuz they ain't us! Also, the bus system in King County leaves CARTA way behind. I will never bitch about Seattle's bus system again. I got spoiled. Also also, the Starbucks in the Market is NOT the original. The original burned down in the 70s. The original owner and staff moved from Western Ave. to the current location which is the oldest but NOT the first. Sorry.
I have a tip you could add.. It's about TIPS.. many Seattle restaurants will include gratuity in the paycheck so don't just automatically pay gratuity especially at nicer restaurants.
The Rail is good, but it's hardly the best airport transportation option in major US cities. The Metro in DC, Philly, and Atlanta all have a stop inside the terminals. The light rail is at least .50 mile walk from your arrival gate. That's a lot if you have luggage and kids to drag along.
New York City gets more rain. August is when the locals schedule their hiking, camping, reunions, BBQs, and other activities that depend on good weather for success. Seattle does not get as cold as 5 degree wind chill like the MidWest or Northeast. Walking in Seattle can cause 'hairline babe fractures' because so much of it is up and down hills? Don’t make eye contact and walk around. Tip number 3: this guy is absolutely correct NO ONE uses umbrellas. Everyone wears Northface so if you want to blend in there you go.
Underground parking at pike market place is a nice because theres security generally circulating around there 24hrs a day. We parked there to prevent break ins since i saw a reddit post on how common it is over there. Edited to improve details*
Mt.Rainier is my mountain. They had commercial about Rainier beer. A bank had Bigfoot for a spoke person.Capt.Ivbar is the best seafood for their clam chowder. I would ride the monorail to the Space Needle. Love that town.
Hi Chris. Thanks to your recommendation, I went to the biggest Starbucks in the world and this was with no doubt a big highlight. Will sure miss this place. From Victoria we took a 3 hour Clipper Ferry to Seattle which was very good. We stayed in Embassy Inn which was a really bad choice. The Grand Pacific just in front of it was so beautiful, day and night difference but unfortunately was too late for us. The nicest area was the walking area from Delta hotel to the other direction and there is also an amazing café there. Also the Butchant Gardens were amazing.
The Embassy Inn got very high reviews which is teaching me an important lesson -not to fall for it anymore and get disappointed. 4 or 5 stars hotels are measured by people with much higher expectations and standards so a top hotel like the Grand Pacific scored lower but was million times better.
great video. I plan on doing the Twin Peaks (tv show) tour which actually does its pick up and drop offs in seattle so im gonna look at staying there as a base. As a uk tourist, it looks like there is more than enough to keep me occupied for a week :)
I just found this older video of Seattle. I'll be honest, you make it look very appealing, as did all the videos about it that I've seen, which were produced pre-2020. Now, all the documentaries I see about it portay it very negatively. Would you feel comfortable traveling there today?
It doesn't happen very often, but Seattle and other spots in Washington state can reach triple digit temperatures in the summer time. It has the last few years for a few days. And unlike Las Vegas, it's a very humid heat, so if you're in Seattle or other parts of Washington state during a heatwave, it would be best to have working A/C.
Ok I can’t let this one slide, even though the old joke is to tell people not to come to Seattle. This really isn’t that accurate. Seattleites would consider 90°F a *very* hot day. We had a heat wave a couple years ago which hit 105°F, and it was so unusual that it hit national news. During a typical summer (even in the last few years) you should expect highs of 85°F, with an **absolute peak** of 95°F. However, the thing to remember is that even in the middle of summer it’s typical for the temp to drop to the low 70s at night. As soon as the sun goes down, so does the heat. And while OP is correct to note that it’s not a *dry* heat, but it’s also not anywhere close to the humidity you’d expect in the South, or even in places like New England. Our humidity is backwards: the winters are relatively wet and the summers are relatively dry.
Chris, excellent video - I do appreciate your insight into the cities you visit. I just watched your Singapore video, and having recently returned from touring that city I can agree with your selection of highlights and opinions. As a native Seattle resident, I would add that the Museum of Glass at the foot of the Space Needle is a can't miss attraction. I'm not a big fan of glass, but the Chihuly experience is something you won't see anywhere else. Also, time permitting, Seattle is one city worth seeing from the water - either on an Argosy cruise ship (90 minute tour) or from a Washington State Ferry.
Seattle is one city I definitely want to check out sometime! I've only been to the airport twice, and both times were just for connecting flights. That underground museum sounds really neat! Thank you for the tips!
@@YellowProductions Your pronunciation sounded fine to me, actually (and it's the correct pronunciation in Japanese). It's just that you said it slowly - usually people say it a lot faster so the "U" gets lost.
@JOE SIX PACK You can't say a "W" sound without first saying a U. It's a long U, thus the "double-U". It comes from the Welsh, in which it can also be a vowel sound in the midst of a word, like in the name "Gwen". Anyway, the store is named for the city the founder came from: "Moriguchi named his company Uwajima-ya after the town of Uwajima" - The "ya" part means store, so the name essentially means Store-From-Uwajima.
When you say September is the best time to visit, is there much rain in september? i dont mind odd showers but dont fancy spending a full holiday during the wet season lol,
If you love homeless people, tents on the streets, shootings and lawlessness.......Seattle is your place. He's right about the teriyaki though. Love me some teriyaki.
Just like @El-fi2py I don't know why I clicked on this video because I already live in Seattle. The only issue I have with this video is there is no such thing as a "Seattle Dog". While it sounds amazing, it isn't a 'thing'. I've never seen it on any menu. The interesting thing this video brought up that kinda blew my mind is that getting a hotel across the Sound somewhere and taking the ferry into the city ever day actually sounds like a good idea. If the weather is decent the ferry rides are a real joy.

Thanks for the insightful video! Fellow travelers, any tips on the best places to grab coffee that aren't the typical tourist spots?
Seattle is the best place here, thanks for sharing! 😃👍
Thanks Jade!
Great video, very informative. Good to know about the jaywalking too!
Thanks ThisisA!
EVERY TIME I TRAVEL, I have to see Yellow Productions lol. Traveling to Seattle tomorrow!
Nice! Enjoy Seattle!
what hotels do you recommend near the cruise port???
always good stuff - trip coming up and this was a good refresher.
Thanks Garsu!
Your videos are very informative and to the point. We are heading to Seattle/Vancouver in June and to Tokyo/Kyoto in November.
Thanks Dipti!
“Part weird part awesome” 👌👌 very well said haha
Very informative video for my first trip to Seattle! Thank you!
Thanks Mrs!
@@YellowProductions I extended my stay because I got a ticket to the All Star Game tomorrow night! ⚾️ 🎉
Thanks for the trip report! Glad to hear you enjoyed the big Starbucks. Sorry to hear the Embassy Inn wasn't too great
The Embassy Inn got very high reviews which is teaching me an important lesson -not to fall for it anymore and get disappointed. 4 or 5 stars hotels are measured by people with much higher expectations and standards so a top hotel like the Grand Pacific scored lower but was million times better.
Can’t wait for the NHL to arrive in Seattle in a couple of years.
great video. I plan on doing the Twin Peaks (tv show) tour which actually does its pick up and drop offs in seattle so im gonna look at staying there as a base. As a uk tourist, it looks like there is more than enough to keep me occupied for a week :)
You are the best! Thank you so much for all the info! 🙌🙏🏼
Thanks Aline!
I just found this older video of Seattle. I'll be honest, you make it look very appealing, as did all the videos about it that I've seen, which were produced pre-2020. Now, all the documentaries I see about it portay it very negatively. Would you feel comfortable traveling there today?
Yeah. I'd still travel today. I was there a year ago. Certainly more homeless around. But I think there's still alot to see
Lets keep traveling
Haha ha. Olympia is the capital of Washington state.
Thanks for the correction :)
And its a Shit hole 2
😭😭
Planning to settle and work here, 8 years from now. 🤞
Lol the part about the chewing gum was hilarious
Hey Chris. Where going thanksgiving weekend 2022. Can’t wait. Watching your vid to prep
Awesome Traveling Foodies! Looking forward to some foodie reviews!
Thanks for the tip on the museum of glass Sato!
It is a good video if you are ignorant of the idiosyncrasies' of a city, OK as an introduction.
Seattle is one city I definitely want to check out sometime! I've only been to the airport twice, and both times were just for connecting flights. That underground museum sounds really neat! Thank you for the tips!
The Underground tour is definitely one of those "only in Seattle" things. Which is what makes it a must do in my opinion :)
Are you serious??!! Seattle has become a giant cesspool due to the homeless.
Wow what a lovly coffee.Seattle city is attractive and beautiful ful of fascilities. If I have money must visit it.

Great video 😀

Lived in Washington my entire life. FYI Uwajimaya’s is pronounced Wajimaya. The “U” is silent.
Thanks for the pronunciation tip!
@@YellowProductions Your pronunciation sounded fine to me, actually (and it's the correct pronunciation in Japanese). It's just that you said it slowly - usually people say it a lot faster so the "U" gets lost.
Last time I checked, Uwajimaya is a Japanese name so you pronounced it perfectly. Great video!
Lots of us call it "Wagy's" (Wah-gees)
When you say September is the best time to visit, is there much rain in september? i dont mind odd showers but dont fancy spending a full holiday during the wet season lol,
@Flint Ah brilliant, thank you for the info, much appreciated. Id be looking at September time when im eventually able to go :)
Good review
What an amazing video as always my friend, enjoyable and fantastic! Hope my videos will have the same quality one day!
Aww... thanks Bangkok Walks!
Amazing Video ! 👏🏼👏🏼
If you love homeless people, tents on the streets, shootings and lawlessness.......Seattle is your place. He's right about the teriyaki though. Love me some teriyaki.
It's definitely a lot to do
This was very helpful. Thanks
Thanks MrzRabbit
Just like @El-fi2py I don't know why I clicked on this video because I already live in Seattle. The only issue I have with this video is there is no such thing as a "Seattle Dog". While it sounds amazing, it isn't a 'thing'. I've never seen it on any menu. The interesting thing this video brought up that kinda blew my mind is that getting a hotel across the Sound somewhere and taking the ferry into the city ever day actually sounds like a good idea. If the weather is decent the ferry rides are a real joy.
Will I be able to get an Uber/Lyft from the airport to downtown at midnite?
Most likely yes
