It's cool, it makes a lot of sense, but hard to see how much effort it takes after it's unfolded to make it is what you see now. I have some constructive criticism, hopefully, it will be received well. There is a mistake on the Kitchen layout, which is to put the Stove directly beside the fridge. The Stove should be on the other side, centred, beside the dishwasher. If there is not enough space, then the Dishwasher should be beside the Fridge and the Stove on the side where the dishwasher currently is.
My stove is on the the same side of my kitchen as the refrigerator. Easier to grab food items while cooking. Sink with garbage disposal is next to the sink. Both have water go too and from the dishwasher. So the dishwasher water goes down the sane drain. 🤔. It was built in 1979. From the sink as I wash most of my dishes manually go into the dishwasher to dry if not to get washed. I have to understand your comment again. Dishwasher near sink. Fridge near stove. Did I miss something 🤔
There are 160,000 orders in front of yours. They say that their new factory will produce 5,000 units a year. You'll get your units in 32 years. You should ask them how soon you should expect delivery, LOL
You know what would be really wonderful? It would be wonderful if these could be permitted under HUD the same as a manufactured home. This would make the permitting process so simple. Otherwise they have to be permitted as a modular which is the same code as a site-built home.

Yes there are things that could be changed but those can be done after the fact to one's specific preferences. At this price point, this unit is a steal. I've seen tiny homes a fraction of this size that cost more. With this you can move right in. Love it!
It's where to put it. Tie it to utilities especially sewage. It's a great little studio home. It's really an Additional dwelling unit. Meant to be put in an existing yard or property that already has power and, water and especially sewage. That's why it's called an ADU. Additional Dwelling Unit. Solely meant to be a part of a main house. Not Physically but on the property.
Did you look into the additional costs even if you already have the ability to tie it to a main house and systems. Also the foundation. It has it's own floor and is solid on a foundation. Sewage is going to be my main problem. I'm on the list to get one. Delivery is also a major consideration.
You can move right in after all the permits are pulled, consult about the water to the home. Hot and cold I think plus sewage too hook up upon arrival including electricity from the house or source. Still affordable. Buy the time they can deliver you can have all that done and ready including a 10 percent down. Two years out
The home has excellent insulation. The design resembles that of an igloo cooler or refrigerator. If all the air is contained and conditioned, the structure will perform well in extremely hot or cold conditions.
I'd keep the kitchen and bathroom setup, the living room and bedroom I'd clear and place/setup my own layout. This is actually really nice for singles or couples, but I'd say two ppl is max since it's pretty cramped. Hope they come up with more designs in future, I'm definitely in.
They have the fridge next to the stove? Yikes it's common sense that is an energy waste and no home engineer/designed would ever do that... Yikes that is very sloppy and bad design... You run that oven a couple hours making a roast and you will be wrecking havoc on that fridge... I can't be the only who notice that major flaw

Thank you for this walk-through tour! Been wanting to get a closer look at the construction/materials/layout. Are there units available for the public to actually tour and get a feel for it in RL? I think I might be willing to travel across the country to do that, before making up my mind about whether to put my house-dollars on this thing. The more I look at the Casita, the more I see potential problems with using it as a permanent living space. I don’t want a lot of space, and I don’t own a lot of stuff, but even I can’t call that cabinet between the bedroom and living room “plenty of storage”. I’m still extremely interested in Boxabl as a potential solution to my “where am I going to live” dilemma. However, I think I really would need to order two units, and one of them isn’t being made yet.
Clean water healthy food and great shelter. These are the top priorities for basic human survival. We have spent billions investing in other countries. I'm a US military veteran I want the federal government to invest in our own people first. We have millions of Americans who are homeless on the streets of our cities living in tents on the sidewalks this is no longer acceptable. We will not stand for this type of political behavior on our landscape any longer. We need more factories more workers and more boxable homes for our people. This is the wave of the future and everyone can see it.

Around 70-100k+… There was a realtor in Oregon who gave the lowdown. Cheaper if you have existing water and power obviously. Closer to the 100k when there is more work to do. The permits cost her $14k

The kitchen has big problems, without range hood, Asian like stirring cooking, range hood is necessary item to kitchen and design is another problem, should take food from fridge, then wash, cut, cook, so stove should install right side, not besides the fridge.
Hi Helen, great feedback. We spoke about some of these things with Boxabl. Like anything else there is give and take when designing a highly engineered product for easy shipping at an affordable price.
I agree on the placement and ventilation adjustments... To have the range by the bathroom would allow a vent system between range and shower to control humidity and smells in such a small space.
I was thinking the same, I would remove the microwave and put in a range hood. That table right off the bathroom is unappealing. Kind of gross. Also, older people prefer table height. I would like real translucent walls for the bedroom. Maybe a floor to ceiling sheer curtains to separate the bedroom from the bath. The tv should go where the fireplace is, 42 inch. A cabinet above the washer.
I actually asked them if it was durable enough to handle intense hail and such because for Texas, that's important! I also asked if we could pick our own appliances. They still haven't gotten back to me.

Hi Russell, thanks. currently you would need to connect to well or city water and electric can also be connected or adding solar would be another option.
if it was mine, instead of a big bed i would use a daybed, (optional trundle), a night table and floor to ceiling closet for long things. even on that 1/2 closet you feature, i would use some of that space starting at the wall,for a floor ro ceiling coat closet extending a couple of feet into the room, which would cut off some of the straightaway countertop which divides the living from the bedr. in the bed area, a computer stand for my all-in one on the adjacent wall from my daybed instead of a big bed.. OR i would use that outside wall 4 a small built in closet with drop down desk or even be able to incorporate my all in one into that desk, or according to dimensions switch it around for the best fit. where your sofa is, i would arrange my wicker loveseat and wicker chairs and wicker bench.,. above the w/d there would be a half width shelved and closeable cabinet-altho i would put the w/d in the bathroom-like an l shaped bathroom, configure the wall change with linen closet above,. probably would sound clearer to you if i drew it on paper
It would have been nice to see a cutaway of a wall panel along with the R value. Is the wall skin aluminum or composite and are they painted or powder coated? How long is the exterior coating supposed to last before it has to be repainted/coated?

those tiny houses are indeed tiny, no more than 9 feet wide; otherwise you need pilot trucks to accompany the house on its journey; and that is expensive.
The Casita has a watertight, insulated, and snow load-rated flat roof. In regions that require a pitched roof, you and your roofing contractor will add a roof solution on-site. In the future, we intend to offer blueprints and even a roofing solution that will be sold separately.

I love the idea. It looks pretty comfy. But the only thing I would definitely!! change is the glass shower door, specially the barn door style. In general I love barn doors but only anywhere else in the house. NOT as a glass door in the shower. I'm pretty picky about smudges and stuff and since I've been taking care of these things for my clients for some time now, I see how messed up it can get. And with time it doesn't look pretty anymore. So that would be the only thing I wouldn't go for but other than that it's pretty cool:)

Not really such a bargain when add things up. You still need to buy the land to put your house on, pay for permits, hook up gas & electric utilities and run a water & sewer line from the street. By the time you’re done, the total will be well over $100k all together depending on how much your lot costs.
I already have a lot and hook up with city water and sewer would be a breeze.. A home stood on this lot but burned down so no added expense water line already there. foundation cost and permits of course. I would not have it shipped i would use this plan to build my own by a local contractor The problem is the pesky zoning laws..this city may not accept this dwelling.
Hi Johan, at the time of filming this we were living in a travel trailer with our children. 5 of us in total. There’s a big difference between living in a Casita vs a tent, a car, travel trailer etc….having a nice sized bathroom alone is a huge difference. Is it ideal for 5 people -- of course not but it is a solid roof over one’s head with a solid door and we could have easily stayed in one of these for almost 2 years vs the travel trailer. During our travels and seeing the homeless crisis in all the city’s and states and all the families on the street…. This would truly be an amazing option for them….
I would use a Murphy bed and relocate the wardrobe so I could have more daytime living space.
and I could live with a smaller fridge!

What land prep is needed: Electricity, sewer, waterlines? Is a concrete slab, gravel, grass, dirt needed to be prepared?
They can find a local contractor who can handle this for you.

You will need land to install a Boxabl tiny home. If you mean you need a License to Install Something on your Property? Yes, you probably will.

As of right now there is no standard spec for the water heater. It could be gas or electric according to the company.

Have the building materials been tested for formaldehyde? Being an unusual composite I wonder. Also how it would stand up to high winds, heavy rainfall, forest fires, and earthquakes.

Hi Russell, thanks. currently you would need to connect to well or city water and electric can also be connected or adding solar would be another option.

if it was mine, instead of a big bed i would use a daybed, (optional trundle), a night table and floor to ceiling closet for long things. even on that 1/2 closet you feature, i would use some of that space starting at the wall,for a floor ro ceiling coat closet extending a couple of feet into the room, which would cut off some of the straightaway countertop which divides the living from the bedr. in the bed area, a computer stand for my all-in one on the adjacent wall from my daybed instead of a big bed.. OR i would use that outside wall 4 a small built in closet with drop down desk or even be able to incorporate my all in one into that desk, or according to dimensions switch it around for the best fit. where your sofa is, i would arrange my wicker loveseat and wicker chairs and wicker bench.,. above the w/d there would be a half width shelved and closeable cabinet-altho i would put the w/d in the bathroom-like an l shaped bathroom, configure the wall change with linen closet above,. probably would sound clearer to you if i drew it on paper

How does the flat roof handle water? I've seen tiny houses for about the same price, without the added cost of unboxing.
those tiny houses are indeed tiny, no more than 9 feet wide; otherwise you need pilot trucks to accompany the house on its journey; and that is expensive.
The Casita has a watertight, insulated, and snow load-rated flat roof. In regions that require a pitched roof, you and your roofing contractor will add a roof solution on-site. In the future, we intend to offer blueprints and even a roofing solution that will be sold separately.

I love the idea. It looks pretty comfy. But the only thing I would definitely!! change is the glass shower door, specially the barn door style. In general I love barn doors but only anywhere else in the house. NOT as a glass door in the shower. I'm pretty picky about smudges and stuff and since I've been taking care of these things for my clients for some time now, I see how messed up it can get. And with time it doesn't look pretty anymore. So that would be the only thing I wouldn't go for but other than that it's pretty cool:)

Not really such a bargain when add things up. You still need to buy the land to put your house on, pay for permits, hook up gas & electric utilities and run a water & sewer line from the street. By the time you’re done, the total will be well over $100k all together depending on how much your lot costs.
I already have a lot and hook up with city water and sewer would be a breeze.. A home stood on this lot but burned down so no added expense water line already there. foundation cost and permits of course. I would not have it shipped i would use this plan to build my own by a local contractor The problem is the pesky zoning laws..this city may not accept this dwelling.
You will need land to install a Boxabl tiny home.
What about Florida, Virginia, Carolina 's

Watching your kids play? Where do they live?
Hi Johan, at the time of filming this we were living in a travel trailer with our children. 5 of us in total. There’s a big difference between living in a Casita vs a tent, a car, travel trailer etc….having a nice sized bathroom alone is a huge difference. Is it ideal for 5 people -- of course not but it is a solid roof over one’s head with a solid door and we could have easily stayed in one of these for almost 2 years vs the travel trailer. During our travels and seeing the homeless crisis in all the city’s and states and all the families on the street…. This would truly be an amazing option for them….
