I was a high school math teacher for 3 years and now I work for a biotech company. I am going to apologize for my grammar ahead of time. 😂 I am a fifth grade cub scout leader for the Arrow of Light group. In my group, I have a handful of kids that are from different backgrounds and are at a variety of academic levels. This becomes a challenge sometimes with comprehension and participation. This group is going to troop next year so I found all of these suggestions fantastic. Especially for the Arrow of Light group where they have to take ownership over their role with patrols and develop their own sense of identity. Thank you!!❤️

Make plenty of slides because they never want it to end! It's easy to differentiate, too. I will color my less complicated slides black or whatever color I'm in the mood for. Thanks for sharing!

It's a lot like that game, but this is more functional for a whole class.

As a mermaid and a supersonic shark don't exist this is a pointless question and therefore I would refuse to provide an answer. As I would with any other similar stupid questions. I've yet to see an ice breaker activity that wasn't pointless so I don't understand why teachers persist in using them. I simply refuse to divulge anything about myself and/or my likes and dislikes. I appreciate this frustrates teachers, but to be honest this sort of stuff is no one else's business.

It's okay if that is your personal choice. Icebreakers are not usually forced, and hopefully aren't introduced as "icebreakers." The cringe of that word, I get it. Many people do enjoy using their imaginations and getting figurative. Creating opportunities for various forms of open communication is important for the dynamic/comfortability of the room. Also, it beats academic discourse for a period of time. I will keep your feedback stored for my next icebreaker ideas video. I hope you reconsider disclosing a bit of your personality with others. You might enjoy the outcome. Thanks for your feedback.

@teachingwithalexa I don't share my personality with anyone and never will because there's absolutely no benefit to me doing so.

@@peterreed9566 Respectfully, you have shared some of your personality through your comments on this video. I recognize your tenacity and outlook and would posit that you can still learn and strengthen skills while not enjoying or appreciating that it is happening in real time. These particular activities don't require any true sharing of specific identity or personality traits, but they do foster open communication and critical thinking in some cases.

@@laurenbyrd3972 I don't want to communicate openly. I'm not interested in other people and hope on return they aren't interested in me.
