This was so relaxing to watch, exactly what I needed after a long week and two cold & rainy days! Beautiful colours, I may have ordered a few DS colours on Jackson’s last night, one of them is the Hematite Violet Genuine! 😁 You introduced me to the other Hematite super long name, I figured I had to try this one too! 👌🏼
Thanks Irit, ....I love your videos. These colors are my favorite also. I bought a tube of Jadeite and closed my eyes at the cash register. Its a beautiful color
If your in the USA their is a seller on eBay that has wonderful prices. I get all my DS colors from him unless I can find a better sell. topher.607 is his name
Oh my, I'm late to your color party. I love so many of the same colors you do, but enjoy some more intense ones too and also what I call "the jewel tones" And lately, in a painting that needed to be soft and sort of earthy muted, I began to appreciate a diluted Schmincke Sepia that suited my needs very well. I love all the pinks/violets too and when I discovered Schmincke Perelyne Green, I was smitten🥰. Thanks so much!
Irit swatched within lines and in colour order! Thanks a lot for the video :) I discovered variety of DS greens and earthy colours this year and ended up using these quite often. DS Mayan yellow was a big surprise to me - non staining, somewhat granulating and not too bright. I also added DS Aussie Red Gold and Quin. Sienna onto my main palette.
Haha I know right ?? Something is wrong in the universe 😂 to ease your mind I did miscalculate it and had to adjust accordingly 😉 I'm very intrigued by Mayan yellow now! Although I do like my yellows very orangey 🤔
You introduced the dusk colors and I’m so glad you did. I purchased some and I really enjoy them and I also love the shell pink that you use. Thanks for sharing your favorites.
Beautiful, Irit! “Jaune” is French for “Yellow “, you had the right pronunciation...it’s like saying Joan..with a soft “J”... Great 👍🏼 video as always!
This was such a calming and peaceful video. I love the way that you describe the colors and I’ve learned that I need to play with my colors more. I’ve been scared to paint, but your videos helped me to do swatches and easy play paintings. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.💜
i bought so many watercolors this year .watching videos like this is kind of why i got more expensive ones i have cheaper like arteza and meeden like them but love daniel smith and m graham
We share the love for pinks and purples! Do you know bright violet from shinhan?? It is the violet version of opera, it is almost neon but has a lot of granulation too! You’d love it as much as I do!
Many of your favourites are also on my list of favourites! Another of my favourite discoveries of 2020 were the Derwent graphitint pans. They’re gorgeous
Oh i was looking to get Holbein's Bright Rose to possibly be my next "opera like" color, but i didnt know it was fugitive. Also that Lukas tube looks so cute, the way that the tube looks stubby ^^
It's so good! But yeah, fugitive. Although I have to say I see so many well known artists use fugitive colors for their artwork, maybe the rest of us can also do that ;)
That shell pink color is gorgeous. It's not too cool and not too warm. They're absolutely gorgeous! The only watercolors amI use are the ecoline pens which are not really watercolors. I've been using the arteza gouache but I find that gouache is kind of tricky and frustrating how the values change and I never seem to get a smooth and velvety type of finish. Maybe I need to try a different brand of gouache😓 I've been eyeing on the kuretake set but a little nervous to try it.
Christmas is coming up, you should be buying other people gifts.. probably. Also you have 10000 art supplies already, go use them. Now excuse me, I have to get back to my Amazon cart.
Beautiful color... My wishlist always grows after I watched one of your videos. Just ordered Lunar Black this week as we don't have access to Rembrandt. Will have to mix my own Dusk Pink 🤗 Liking that Juane Brilliant color too 😃
I could swatch colors all day long! Have you tried daniel smith’s amazonite genuine? I think it often gets overlooked by cascade green and is so much prettier, especially if you love teals and turquoise’s. And it granulates beautifully. It’s just gorgeous. It’s the prettiest green in my opinion! Cascade green has pretty much been pushed aside once I discovered amazonite genuine!
Also, something I keep thinking about is that your Schminke Naples Yellow always looks so much more yellow on screen than mine is! The difference is so big that I keep wondering if I really have the same colour. And yet, when I check my tube it certainly seems like it. I wonder if its just a screen-thing. 🤔
So beautiful! I love all these colors, too. Kremer watercolors are ah-mazing, too! Btw, what is the brush you're using?? I feel like I could get my desperately-needed details with a brush like that. Thank you!

watching this made me realise that my palette has been subconsciously influenced by your videos. and you know what... i'm happy about it! such bright and beautiful colours~! kinda wish more brands made dupes of daniel smith's beautiful special granulating colours. anyway, i can't remember but have you tried Rembrandt's Quin Rose as an alternative to DS's quin rose? I find that Rembrandt's quin rose is cooler than quin roses from other brands. oh! when you mentioned that cobalt violet is your signature colour, it made me think of another vid idea for you: which 12 or 24 colours would you choose for your signature palette if you were able to work with a watercolour company. although now that i've said it out loud, it seems like something you should keep a secret until that opportunity arises. i'm so silly haha~ thank you for another great video!
Glad you like your palette 😀 yes I bought the Rembrandt quin Rose hoping it would replace the DS one as it is cheaper where I am, but I don't like the tone, it reminds me of quin fuschia, just not as bright as I would like... Lol no secrets what my favorite colors are, not sure I could narrow it down to 12 or even 24 😉
@@iritlandgraf ah i see. i guess the search continues :) i myself have been trying to find a PV19 (lightfast) that looks the same as White Night's carmine. i have bought so many cool reds.... i have way too many now lol.

Gorgeous! I agree that watercolor is calming and also exciting. I fell in love with Van Gogh dusk colors this year. Dusk pink and yellow. The Daniel Smith quin rose and bright rose are Perfect. I’m using Sennelier brown pink as a green gold this year. I’m loving greens this year too. Dusk yellow, brown pink, and cascade green. I love them so much. I’m pretty sure that I will always be in love with moon glow. A lot of my colors are your suggestions and they never disappoint. Thank you.✊🏾💕
It is interesting the Lukas cobalt turquoise on Jacksons says it is PB 28 but on Jerrys artarama it lists the pigment as PG50 i wish I could see a tube from each place to see if the tube color is actually different or if one of the sites has a typo or if it is actually made different for different markets. Does your tube list the pigment?? Love your selection of colors some of my favorite colors were on your list.
My tube says PB28, just like my pan did... Maybe you are right, or maybe they changed it and it used ot be PG50 like most other versions of this color... I checked now Jane Blundell's site for her swatch, it says PG50 too (she's in Australia). Interesting. It is curious, but doesn't matter much (to me at least) as I was surprised to see it was from PB28 because it looks and behaves like PG50 (only more affordable here in EU).
I have an old Lukas brochure that shows Cobalt Turquoise as PG50, but their current website says PB28 so I assume they've recently changed the pigment.
Hi Irit. Thanks for sharing your colour choices. I especially liked the blues, turquoises and greens as I mostly do seascapes and skies these days. Ah! The DS greens! I have been resisting them so far because they are so costly, but for how long? Your use of them makes them a very desirable product. My main palette is made of Sennelier, Isaro, Van Gogh and Rembrandt (on your recommandation for these last 2 and very happy with them) Finally, may I suggest this link for the pronunciation of your much dreaded word "jaune" 😊 UTF-8#sbfbu=0&pi=prononciation%20 jaune. Have a nice weekend!
Glad you enjoyed Francis! Of course your budget is what decides, but for me one tube of paint, even though I paint every day still lasts a very long time, so it is worth the expense. And also, I think with the exception of Zoisite the others greens I mentioned are from the more affordable series of DS... I think :)
I actually didn't realise I marked it with a star, but thinking about it, I think the color is similar or identical in most brands but the DS pushes most other colors, which helps the yellow shine and not mix with other colors. Hope that helps!
WN cobalt violet is my favorite watercolour too!! i was hoping you'd have another brand because its so expensive ahaha i wish it wasnt so i wouldnt be so precious about using it
Yes it is expensive but a tube or full pan should last a long time. Sennelier is more affordable here in the EU and they have a hue (cobalt light) that is cheaper. It's a pretty color, more opaque than cobalt violet usually but still pretty and more budget friendly. If you're in the US I've heard great things about Da Vinci and they have large tubes too (more economical).
@@iritlandgraf thanks for the reply! haha the hue is pretty but i also love the granulation! i have a tube of WN one but only squeezed out a small amount to my palette. its low tinting strength makes me feel like it goes faster than some colours but i just have to accept the fate of loving this colour now haha
@@MelitaBintoro yes you're right, I also go through mine fast. You may want to try the full pan of W&N, it is a different formula and I suspect it may last longer.
I loved this video so much! Your palette is just beautiful. I was wondering, have you found any similar colors to the two shinhan that you mentioned? I am in the states and can’t find those two and was wondering if there are any similar colors you know of off the top of your head?
Wow, this was absolutely lovely to watch! Thank you, Irit! 🥰 Have you tried Rembrandts PG36? It's much lighter than other PG36s out there, which makes it very similar to Sennelier's Emerald Green! It's slightly cooler, but with a whisper of white and/or yellow I'd say it's dead on! How would you say Shinhans Jaune Brilliant and Shell pink compare to the Holbein versions? I'm really curious about them! I'll also add a tip for people looking for a white they like: I can't stand the Rembrandt version, it's so shiny when it dries that it makes me angry, but someone recommended M. Graham's white gouache, and it's amazing! It doesn't crack in the pan, it's super opaque and dries absolutely matt! (It doesn't stay gooey like their watercolors.) In other words, hooray! 😄 I'm very thankful someone told me about it so here I am trying to return the favour. 🎨
Glad you enjoyed! What is name of that paint? Doesn't sound like something I tried... I think with colors like shell pink or Jaune it's totally worth saving money as they are mostly white with a bit of color so no need to pay for the premium brands... I haven't noticed the shiny white, maybe because I mostly mix it with other colors 🤷♀️ works well for me and very easy to find in Austria 😀
@@iritlandgraf It's their Emerald Green! 😊 It's not as dark as other phthalos. I actually got it because I wanted to experiment with it and see if I could make you a mix similar to the Sennelier one, but using I realised I'm not even sure that is necessary. It is a bit more potent than the Sennelier, but well, try it and see how you like it! ☺️ I'm looking forward to hearing what you think! Okay, thank you for saying that! I might try them eventually 😊 I totally get that. I've mostly been using mine to get really crisp, white details with a high concentration of paint, and that effect is somewhat lost when it's very shiny in masstone. (Should have mentioned that! 😬) Used for mixing I don't think one is better than the other. ☺️
thanks a lot for the video! just ordered some van gogh carmine and cant wait to try it ^^ (as well as some dusk tubes cause they were on sale and look gorgeous) Is there a big difference between the van gogh and the rembrandt dusk paints?
I haven't checked all, I know the dusk pink has different pigments but performs similarly. I also didn't check the lightfast ratings, maybe there's a difference there too. I only have van gogh versions of the other dusk colors, but I will purchase Rembrandt's Dusk yellow once I run out of the van gogh tube.
Received my order! That van gogh carmine truly is a spectacular color! 😍😍😍 how it shifts from a cool red/magenta into a warmer red when layered is incredible... It's a shame about the light fastness but it might just be worth it
DM Zoisite is a puzzle color. Ruby Zoisite is a common stone but the best known in the Zoisite family is Tanzanite....which is lovely blue to violet. I will have to look at the website as coming from the world of gemstones this should be deep transparent blue and not this muddy looking green.

I might try them eventually 😊
I totally get that.
Not sure... I think they source theirs from Austria (where I live) but I haven't seen one IRL...
Omg Irit this was like watching color porn heaven!!! I know that's crude but sooooo true and funny and I hope it made you laugh and not block me hahaha! , I loved this video so much girl, speaks to my color obsessed soul! Merry Christmas, love, positivity to you and your family this holiday season. Cheers from North Bay Ontario Canada xoxo
Lol Angie! I don't know how you got past the UA-cam detectors but you did ;) Take care and happy holidays to you too!
@@iritlandgraf hahaha I love it, I'm never foul with language written or spoken in public but it was too funny not to try, love ya girl xoxo
what brush are you using
❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Jaune Brilliant is pronounced Jone Brilliant. The AU becomes O. While pronouncing the O you have to stretch it as if there were 2 OO's.
Thanks! For some reason that word does not want to live in my brain...
@@iritlandgraf You're welcome
