Due to the rain we have gotten in the past couple weeks, the maternity pen was mucky...and with a hay shortage in the area, straw for bedding has been hard to find! So we opted to move Sugar and Ladybug over to a clean and dry area.
Farm projects are still on the go, I finally set up the milk stand outside of the pen to be used for hoof trimming, hair clipping, and all the more messy type of stuff. Water troughs needed some soapy scrubbing to make sure they were providing the goats and horses with clean water.
Sugar is still very sore, but we continue to hope and pray that she will recover!!! I've been doing a bunch of research, and will be putting together a specific video on laminitis, as well as hopefully bringing in a guest to speak with!
    Thank you for watching,
    may God bless you.

Lady will enjoy the children around her and I think she’s got a new friend sitting watching her too ..I hope this helps her legs ..I think Sugar will be ok. Give her time to see her baby weaned before you decide. Teach Lady the same as Jitter Bug then, she should be fine. It’s good you care about each animal as if it’s the only one you have Love to you and your family 🥰

❤️❤️ Thank you so much! Our kiddos (and the pup) sure do adore little Lady! We have some new ideas for Sugar and have been doing lots of research and talking to experienced horse people...in hopes that we can make her comfortable...and then maybe, just maybe she will start to heal! Crossing our fingers and praying lots! Each animal is special and unique in their own way, holding special places in our hearts. ❤️

Watching you move those fence panels i just wished i could jump in the video and help you lol but you done a great job 😊 poor Sugar. I really hope and pray she gets better. Its heartbreaking thinking of the pain she is in. Ladybug is such a gorgeous foal. Her colouring is stunning. I know she will change as she gets older. So looking forward to seeing her grow up with you and your kids. Im so glad you rescued Sugar and gave Ladybug a chance to be here ❤

Haha that is the best!!! I love your helpful attitude! We appreciate the prayers for Sugar, we are busy formulating a better plan for her to give her the best shot at recovery. It's a tricky thing.
Ladybug will have a very bright future, and we can't wait to see how she sheds out....she could be sorrel or even a bay or a red roan!!! It'll be a surprise!

Might check the small Canadian channel called Candice & Jordan Camille. They take on abandoned and injured wild foals. They start tiny foals right on bucket instead of bottle for milk. They have also dealt with crooked legs. And they show teaching baby foals to lead etc using kind gentle ways. I am thinking their bucket method would help Lady get extra milk and if she does well might make it possible for the hard decision on Sugar. Bless you for helping this poor mare as best you can. I think they would be receptive to you reaching out as they have an email in their descriptions.

Thank you for recommending them! I'm going to see what I can find for tips and tricks! We tried Lady on a bucket tonight, and while she took a few swallows, she was very confused about not suckling a teat. Hopefully she catches on so she can get some extra milk into her belly!

@@LiltroyerfarmI just looked again at their channel - they don’t use playlists. Their mare Silver’s filly had the leg issues and the title of video is “the fillies” from a month ago. This year feral foal #2, now named Piper, I know they explained milk bucket in one of her first videos.

@@Liltroyerfarm just for your info, since your in BC (if I remember right) their feral foal #1 this year was tested and had not had colostrum and they gave her the plasma treatment. Their clinic had it on hand. Expensive but Candice was impressed with the treatment although filly was to ill and passed. Hopefully you will never need it in the future.🤞

Yep I knew it was the sauna 😂🤣😆I like your portable pens, those seem to be very useful. I’m using chain link dog kennels for my ducks and chickens until we can get something more suitable but the price of lumber has gotten so high it’s crazy. Love your video ❤

They are VERY handy panels...unfortunately just borrowed from a neighbor, but I will enjoy them while we have them! 😊 And YIKES....yes, the price of lumber is insane!!!! Really gotta think twice before starting a project!

There's another channel I watch called The Clever Cowgirl. She takes on horses in similar situations as Sugar. You might watch her channel and see if there is anything you could learn from here or reach out to her. She uses special kind of shoes for several of her horses and it has seemed to help them. She also uses different kinds of feed and vitamins depending on the horse d needs. I hope this will help your horses.

@@Liltroyerfarmthe Clever Cowgirl is also a Vet technician. I didnt know that until tonight, but I did tjink she must have been something like that because she knows so much about horses, and she is always buying the ones that need some medical help of some sort. She seems to be able to do what other say cant be done. She does take a lot of time and patience with them. I love that about her and the care she gives. She also reads all her comments so I bet she'd be willing to help you figure out what to do for Sugar and Lady 's legs. Thats if the need be. I personally do not have farm animals but I love the fact that you and she, and others like you are willing to take care of them. I live in Indiana and the winters do get cold and sometimes sub-zero. I enclosed my back porch with semi tarps for our cats. My porch is up in the air not on the ground. Those tarps keep out the weather and raise the temp at least 20 degrees. They're a great inexpensive way to protect the animals and the building. They're very durable. It's easy to see you have a lot on your plate, I do hope the suggestions help make your life easier and help your animals get and stay healthy. May the Lord Bless you and your whole family.

@@Liltroyerfarm you are doing super well with all that you are putting forth doing. i seen clever cow girl's channel and hers is a dime a dozen , tons of equestrian channels abroad that has quality info. im just super glad that sugar and lady bug are in your care and not in a butcher shop. it is obvious you are giving them all quality care and really what you share to us is a treat, you are not obligated nor do you have to answer to anyone! you go girl, ,keep up the good work :D

That's very cool! I'm excited to see what I can learn from her channel. 👏 Yes, tarps are very very handy to have! We plan to get some more for tarping our hay bales, as well as wind proofing the goat shed (and horse shelter if needed). Winters can hit -50°C at their coldest. 🥶 Yes, always seem to have lots on my plate...but it is genuinely a joy to be able to share my passion for these animals (and hopefully share my faith at the right time as well!) God bless!

Thank you for the encouragement!!! That perspective really helps to keep things in place. I don't owe anyone anything...really.... other than I owe it to the animals to take care of them the best that we can, and to raise my family in a healthy way too. ❤️ But, if I am able to keep putting videos together that may help/educate (or even entertain) others, then I am excited to share my passion for our little farm!

Re Sugar, has the pedal bone rotated through the sole at all?
Man, I wish I could contact you privately, I’ve just rehabbed an insulin resistant gelding with subclinical laminitis and two years later we are paddock sound and able to be ridden lightly. I’d love to be able to share how I approached his rehab with you but I don’t want to clog up your messages board or share too much on a public platform. I’m sure you’re doing everything right and have the best advice from all the right people but sometimes it’s nice to be able to discuss stuff with people who have gone through it all.
    Much love from me ❤

🤣 life is too serious, so I tried to add some humor!
I've just spent the last 5 minutes trying to figure out a way to connect. The only thing I can think of is to comment an email address. You could email me for different instructions for contact. And then I would 'burn' the email address to prevent a bunch of people trying to email me 🤣🤣 that's the beat idea I have! Any other options would be through platforms like Patreon, where people could pay for 'member only perks'. Something I've thought about doing, but I'm not sure anyone wants to pay 3.99 a month for extra videos, stories, and member perks 😬🤣
