Thanks for the reply bro! We just got ours fixed today, the oil pressure switch was old and leaking, good thing we towed our car to the shop otherwise the engine would have seized due to low oil!
my oil pan was cracked a4 2003 v6.. Did not notice the crack untill driving couple minute my car was making a diesel noise ... went to change the oil pan and put some oil in it.... my problem now is I often get the low oil pressure light coming in .. time to time .. I could have it for 2minutes then nothing for 2 days and then coming back for couple minutes... Did I just lost my engine or do you think maybe piece of metal got into the pickup tube when It got cracked? my mechanic did change the pan but didnt not say anything about the pickup tube was wondering if maybe the pickup is the problem

In my case, the problem was leaking oil filter foot.. Before that oil pan was removed and garage change a sump..
