The brilliance of the gig bars and move is that. Even of you are a master of DMX, time is your enemy. As a DJ if your doing weddings and othe private events you don't always have or want to spend a lot of time setting up. Time is money and especially right now if your trying to maximize time to compensation the gig bars series give you that. It mY not be the best light show out there but then again it takes 5-15 minutes to set up multiple bars together with cables and or other communication hardware. If you have sound switch you can even make it more custom (for a fee of course. You should get paid for your time and work). Chauvet really made a winner here. Thus is misunderstood by many DJs as being to simple or armature but they forget the cost of time and set up for more advanced rigs. Now that covid is a thing people are tighter with money, making this even better return on investment.
Great review Mike. Looks like a great product but do feel Chauvet have missed a trick with not being to mount this onto a truss or an overhead kit as this is what I currently do with my Gigbar 2
Love the Gig bar Move, but for the extra money your only getting two moving heads. Which means me back to the gig bar 2.0 Sorry to sound negative, I am impressed.
I own two Gigbar ver 2 and always use it with Chauvet Hurricane 2D and never had problems (yet) with a venue as long as you use it on the lightest setting and trigger it's self ever 15min intervals for 9 sec (fast fan setting). If you are going to use a smoke machine you are definitely going to have a lot of problems with fire alarm at the venue. I'm interested in the Gigbar Move but the moving heads were not that great. i want to know if it is possible to get the moving heads to do a sweep from side to side slowly no other lights on...
I agree with the moving heads. I thought there were a big letdown for me. I own two Gigbar ver 2 as well and was really looking forward to purchasing the Move and running it between the two ver 2s. But seeing the moving heads, it really deflated my urge to buy one.
Gitiffan I have purchased the Move and I would not recommend it as the moving heads are lost in the light show. It would have been nice if they allowed the moving heads to stand out on its own & more light wattage for it. You can not control the sweep speed. A total let down I agree with you.
1best Partyman thanks for chiming in. Yeah the more I researched and looked at reviews of the move, they all say the same thing. The moving heads are useless and not nearly powerful enough in terms of brightness.
Mike can you post a follow up video showing the light system without fog from bot the audience view and possibly reflecting off of walls, ceilings or floors? Thank you.
I really don't understand why almost everbody who demos lights focuses the camera on the actual lights. Wouldn't it be better to see the lights projected onto a particular area, to simulate how it looks on a dance floor?
Did you ever figure out how to hang this on a truss? I want to put this in the middle of my goalpoast truss, but would really have to get creative to hang.
Hey, so if you want to make your own programming, the Dax address, let’s say 1 set to 35 channel mode, controls all of them. There’s no individual Dax addresses for each light, correct?
Can't believe the bag still has the foot controller on the OUTSIDE of the bag!! HORRIBLE. The pockets rip and TEAR. Why don't they make it that the foot controller and go INSIDE the bag???
@Leonard jeremy youre kidding, the BAG is a TON of money just for that. Not worth it to buy another bag. The point is, the bag should at least hold up to normal use..
Moving heads can be very bright at low power due to using smd leds mate even 3w leds are bright and effective but i can also see your point mate so i guess its due to preferences have a shop around you can still get other lights with sound active lights and presets if you have trussing look into lights if british gear4music is what i like to use very reliable for america i would go direct to the retailers unless you have a trusted supplier
Personally I am dissapointed with the review as he is usually bang on with products ....this thing is actually the worst light i ever had...nothing against gig bars or chauvet either ... the gig bar 2 is a decent effect for a decent price and its easy to pack away and set up in various ways so I get it and think it well worth it and it suits a market simple pack away n set up - stuff dmx. if you have these already just get seperate moving heads - these mh on this are weaker than stan laurals love handle - the strobe cannot be turned off on remote like you can on gig bar 2 . it needs d m x to control it properly but people buy it to avoid using dmx generally as Mike himself said. And the bag is not good like he says it wont last 2 min as it is under more strain than kim kardasians bra ,,,The idea was good but they rushed it to market got it wrong here and I totally disagree with the review and assesment here for these reasons. In my honest assesment it is a fashing blinging piece of over priced chinese crap.
@@tonylyall8176 can you point me to that survey? As said, it's never something that been a problem to me, I'd say out of 20 venues last year I played at only 1 said no to smoke.
@@fastra3621 Any venue that has a fire alarm system with smoke detectors is likely to have a cow because both water and oil based hazers set the system off. The detectors are optical based.
@@PaulJBurns OK, but as mentioned, I play regularly in 3 bigish clubs - 300/350 capacity, I'd imagine they have plumbed in fire systems, yet we use smoke and they also have they're own smoke machines. So perhaps it's a sensitivity thing?
There are ways round this.. I’m happy, and I recognise the accent, to come and spill some expertise. You need a proper control system to go with it, not sound to light, and not buttons in time to the music. Gobo. What’s a gobo, then?
Same little locking plastic triangle on the stand that gets easily popped and lost. Epic design failure. The bags are dreadful , I witnessed a brand new bag with zip failure on it's first outing and it wasn't abused. Not one of them out of 6 have lasted. Even the side pouch zips fail. @@DandyDoesIt we had them early on, they might have taken heed of feedback and upped their game on the cases, but I'm not convinced. The first units were not fit for purpose by way of the zips failing.
Why do Disk Jokeys think they are light jockeys? And know everything about lighting? Watching this, as a professional stage and rock and roll lighting designer is embarrassing! Like a day out at maplins electronics.

Great review! Looking at this for a few small bars that this will work great in..

I wish they could have used a bit higher wattage for the moving heads 10w is nothing really.
You can choose colours directly with the remote as opposed to scrolling through all the colours to get the one you want with the footswitch ;-)
you can choose the colors you want with the IRC remote
How much price the gig bar move ?

How and where can i buy that lightnings? Im here at the Philippines..
Do you need a dog machine to take advantage of the lazers and is it at all possible to have 4 moving heads instead?
Great review Mike...once again...I like that a lot
And I received it today Mike...Many Thanks
Hi Mike, can you change the LED bulbs on this one? I couldn't change the led for my derby on my gig bar 2 unless there is a way? Cheers
Mike is there a auto program setting for color wash or slow color fades?
What is the latest software version for this unit
Good review, nice vibe you have there.
Can the laser on this system be safely aimed at the dance floor? Thanks
More than likely they are not highly powered man
What dmx controller I get for the move
Helpful video...
Why does the laser need a key
Safety so it doesn't blind you by accident.

Testing with haze, dont you realize that most venues wont allow so whats the point just getting peoples hope up for a poor product.
Conversely, nearly all of the venues I play at do allow smoke/haze machines.
