- Oh boy...
Until I saw a bunch of you sh*t all over these, I totally dug them!
And then I decided, whatever, I'm into them.
I will admit, I don't take it much to weddings anymore, but I do love it for other events.
I think Chauvet stepped it up when they added a mover to the Gigbar.
Here's my review of the Gigbar Move, a really fun all-in-one light fixture that has lots of looks and options.
Comes with a tripod (and bag), power cable, IR remote, foot switch and padded carrying case.
Let me know in the comments what you think and if you got one or are thinking of getting one.

Those giving the Chavet a bunch of flack are the people looking to justify the obscene amount of money they chose to pay for the vast amount of other options. You said it best. Dude, it's lights!! If the music is bangin' and the drinks are flowing then the venue is a success. No one ever left a wedding saying "wow, the DJ lighting sucked". LOL!!
Yep, it’s like the last thing they notice
think outside the box, bro.
lighting as a service can definitely be sold for weddings, but it takes a lot more fixtures and effort than a chauvet gig bar. you're generally right to assume most people don't give a second thought to the DJ lighting, but it doesn't mean their mind can't be changed...
@@jdmsll Almost everything would be better and look better accompanied by a Pink Floyd level light show, except Joe Biden.
So so true
I’ve never enjoyed hear reviews. But this is entertaining. And now I want one.
Thank you very much, Sir. This is the absolute best review I've seen on this product. Quick, to the point and you covered everything.
Thanks!
I’ve had my gigbar move for about a year now and I love it. Just got the myDMXgo and I’m deeper in love now!
Awesome!
Thank you for the review. I am planning to buy it but wanted to see the ease of use. Your review is great. Will be picking up 2 of these. Thank you
You got it!
How are they? Did you purchase?
Thanks for the video! Will love to see one explaining your soundswitch setup.. I have the soundswitch & wireless dongles but have not used soundswitch
Thanks! That's something I can do. Just gotta figure out a way to make that entertaining lol.
We have a Gigbar Move, and control it using ADJ’s MyDMX Buddy and MyDMX 3. Everything works great! We have total control over the lights, and they provide an excellent lighting option for, as another commenter said, small to medium sized venues.
That's great. I think they're better with DMX as well
good review, useful product for lighting small bars or bedrooms
We're a duet that works with a backing track in small venues and then we do a DJ set after we're done playing & singing; we're looking for a good lighting set-up that's not going to take us an age to set up after we've gone the sound 🤪
This could work well for us - thanks for the details 👍
Bought a pair of these to replace a pair of Chauvet 4play with a sweeper & storm mounted to the top on each. With the GB move, everything is much cleaner. Quick setup and teardown. The custom case makes transport an ease without worry. Cable management is almost a dream. Using wireless DMX so the only cable is power. Used the foot switch for the 1st year with them in M/S mode. Worked well but the sound mode was a bit touchy. Attempted to program with ShowXpress, very rough & time consuming. Recently brought in Sound Switch and OMG! Perfectly synchronized light shows with our entire archive. We aim the Lazer & derbys up off the dancefloor, careful not to hit anyone in the eyes. Venues with light colored walls and ceilings really showcases these well. Haze makes them even better. Solid lights & reasonable price for what you get all in 1 neat/clean package. Highly recommend.
Soundswitch def makes these better
Dope review man. Entertaining, keep crushing!
Appreciate it!
Thanks for the review. I'm looking at getting one to replace my chauvet (original) 4bar LED, mini kinta, lasers, and cubix 2.0, and ADJ colorburst 8 DMX. Right now, i require 2 bars, one for the chauvet, and one for the other lights, and tons of wires, and cables for DMX. I want to simplify. I think this would be a great replacement, especially since it does UV, as well as white strobe, along with moving heads. I do more parties where they want moving lights/strobing/party mode, so I think this will fit perfectly. I will keep my older stuff for weddings still, as it's easier to use independent lights for weddings, but i don't do many of those (1-2 a year).
I think this would be perfect for your situation. It literally sets up in a minute. I'm all about that simple life! For weddings, check out the ADJ Dotz TPar system. This is my go to. I need to make a video on it, but it's a wash light that I use every event.
I have the gigbar 2 and I like it a lot currently I’m thinking about moving on from those and getting the gigbar move
This video was very helpful
Thanks for your review! I used to DJ weddings and events a lot back in the 90s! I'm a musician at heart and right now I do solo shows and two piece band and three piece band situations I'm thinking this light bar would be good for behind the drummer lighting up just the band area as we play listening rooms basically not much dancing.. I have a 4 bar flex still works and I use it every show I don't believe it's compatible.. anyhow that usually goes on the ground in front of me pointing up and set on an automatic slow fade type of setting I guess. But I do believe your review sold me and I appreciate it!
Thanks Jude! I think you’re right, this would be a great solution for you. See if a local music store has one and check it out!
Great review!!! Honest....I LIKE IT
First video and the “it’s a F*n light” got you a new sub lol 👍🏻 great video straight to the point
Thanks Bobby!
I love mine and never had a client, guest, or even a photographer complain about it!
Exactly. I think only DJs hate them
Lazers can damage Cameras. Photographers hate them.
I like you. 😊 good job🤘🏻
I have a gigbar 2.0. I actually do use the "fade" mostly. It does work for me. I just hit the "fade" button on the remote and then immediately turn the "strobes" off by hitting the "strobe" button a couple of times. It slowly goes through all the colors and looks great with a light Haze. I do try to always use haze unless they tell me not too. I have only set off one smoke detector and I've been Djing for 16 years. A friend of mine has two Gigbar 2.0's and I have borrowed his and daisy chained them all together using XLR cables and man they look awesome. I have been thinking about stepping up to the new Gigbar Move but I'm just not sure I want the mover lights going all over the place. At least with the derby's you can point them at the dance floor and they look incredible with haze. By the way "beware" the pole socket is just tack welded on and mine completely broke off the other night and I am very careful with my equipment. Not sure how I'm gonna fix it.. Thanks for the video.
Haze makes the derbys look way better, I agree there. Good to know about the pole socket..wow
I just bought a new Move today, looking forward to using it this weekend with my Gig Bar 2. Have you tried linking the light bars together? With 2, and a set of 4 wash lights, it really puts out enough light to do any dance!
I never had 2 of them, so I haven't done that. I know other DJs that have and it should be great for you!
I use a gigbaf 2.....for weddiings...and everything else...1 minute setup...i basically just use blackout to turn it off and on....love it! Case is not bad..., tripod and remotes included...djs are masochistic..and need to haul around tons of crap.
It’s a great option. I agree
Nice review! I would say to keep any dance light off until the dance floor opens.
Absolutely. Mine are usually always off unless the photographer asks for a white wash. But in general, I tell them that I don't put any lights on and they almost always say, "thank you!"
@@AaronStrawn Same here, don't make it harder on the photographer. We all need to work as a team.
Just ordered 2 of them, as you I am fed up with spending all the time for setting up a lightshow. The only thing I will add is my 2 Spectra 3D lasers (I wil discconect the lasers on the Gigbar Move). I tried out the Spectra 3D lasers with Soundswitch and they work just fine and do what I want them to do :-) Thx for the review, made me decide to buy 2 of them. A pitty I need to wait 2 tot 3 weeks cause here they are sold out! And I own 2 sets of 4 Freedomsticks also, very nice for setting up the room :-
These will work with Soundswitch too
Great review. I really like the design of the bar with the internal wiring (and that they offer it in white). Would it be possible to remove the movers and replace with additional pars (like the two in the middle) on the ends?
Not sure, I do know people have switched lights out before, not the movers though. If you don't want the movers, they sell one without them
I love these lights I have other lights as well and I have 2 gig at moves… these are so easy and fast if the client wants more lighting then I can use my washfx but I live these lights.
The gigbar is the best! Rocks the dance floor and have never had a bad review in 4 years! The gigbar move looks great!!!
It's a great piece of gear
Thanks for the review. I use the 2 gig bar moves (along with other wash lights for a live band situation). Does the gig bar move offer wireless option for the bar to communicate with an iPad (using My DMX Go App) to build scenes or does it require a DMX connector of some kind? I would like to build a few basic scenes for our show that I can control with the IR or foot pedal. Any help is appreciated!!
What I have done with it wirelessly was use Soundswitch and bought their adapter that is basically USB to XLR. Then I used wireless dmx dongles. Connected those to the Gigbar and to the adapter. That will help with the wireless aspect
Nice review! Can you do custom Gobos with the moving heads?
I was able to do that with SoundSwitch. So you'll need a DMX software
What a fun paced, entertaining, review! Other djs take note please!
Thanks Eddie!
Fade mode does work on the GigBar 2 at least, and it's the mode that I use more often. I bet it works on this one too. But for whatever dumb reason, it also turns on the strobe lights. So I press, in this order: FADE, STROBE and STROBE again to turn off the strobe. Oh, and I have removed the laser. I hate the laser. I am also this close to taping up the strobes. Awesome video, bro. I see the moving heads effect, and I am very unimpressed. Not going for the upgrade. Thank you!
You’re right. I forgot about being able to do that on the 2. I used to push the strobe button till it was off
This looks prety cool. I'm not a DJ but I'm a student in college and we throw a few parties at my house and we've been using Philips hue to sync the lights to the music. And we have some cheap $30 laser lights from amazon for some effects. Do you think we should get this if we're just gonna be throwing parties and wanna add a nice vibe to our place? because this seems to just sync with the music automatically and just add a sick vibe to the whole party
I think this would be a super cool house party light. You can set it to sound mode and it will react to the music.
When in sound mode, can you turn off particular lights? For example sound mode enabled, with just the movers? Also can you adjust the “craziness” level on sound mode for more relaxed vibes?
Trying to figure out whether I can use this without dmx or whether I should just go all out..
You can set it to certain lights in sound mode. But you gotta toggle through all the different modes to get there. You can also adjust the sensitivity. That can be done from the remote, but unless you're looking, you have no idea what it is set to. I think if you want that kind of control, DMX is your best option.
I tried DMX on the gigbar 2 and at the end I decided to leave it in auto mode. Black mode for speeches. That works for me.
Just bought a gigbar move here in nz after watching the review. Its great but have an issue with the one i got, the cables for the derbys are not that long. I cant tilt them to 90degress down like in your video. The most they tilt is maybe 30-35degrees from the upright position out of the case. The cable is wierdly short. Wondering if a defect.
I think I flipped it, that's how I got them to tilt more. Try that. Take it off the way it is, and flip the light.
Can you setup scenes via DMX with these? Like putting the different type of lights on different channels to get get real specific about your scenes?
You can with Soundswitch
Hahahaha we have Dotson that cracked me up
I’m thinking when you’re in auto or sound mode, the other pedals (also on remotes) can control the crazy speed.. (I don’t have one in front of me or if clarify
That could work
So far I’m impressed with the latest model the Gigbar ILS…it’s pretty much what the first gigbar should of been. Also seen a few videos where the DJ just has a gigbar set up and no other lighting like it’s supposed to cover an entire gymnasium or something. With about 12 uplights I’m sure any model Gigbar would be a great filler.
Great comment. Bigger room, this will get swallowed up.
@@AaronStrawn two Chauvet wash fx clamped on speaker stands would take care of that real quick. Just saying Gigbar shouldn’t be the only light solution it’s not enough to cover a venue by itself the ILS is a lot brighter though.
Great entertaining review but I don't think the gig bar is my thing. I wanted so much to like it but not a fan. I prefer my lights to have a little more presence
thanks king. subscribed
Ho Aaron. I have a gigbar move. I just bought a adj dmx. Playing with it and all. But I unhooked it and went back to using my remote. And now my remote doesn't work. I switched it back to auto and it still doesn't work. Do you have an answer for me? Thanks
You may have to switch the mode on the Gigbar to remote. Try that.
Great video. Im sixk of dmx programs and thr b.s. so i got this. Subbed!😊
Awesome!
Got mine for $680 total
When it first came out last year for $880
Bought in January 2020
It's still in the shipping box strapped and unopened
Wonder when I'll open it up and use it
Bust it out!
sell it to me!
Just got mine! Just wondered if u knew How to turn on The strobes? And fast strobes aswell? 😄
To turn on specific lights you’ll need DMX. Otherwise, click through the programs to get them
@@AaronStrawn thank you very much!
I have a wedding this Friday . All comment under how these babys roll . so far I’m hyped to see results
Awesome, can't wait to hear!
How did it go?
@@AaronStrawn awesome , although the derby’s weren’t as bright as I wish they were to be , especially at a high height I wasn’t able to adjust it facing down to the dance floor
@@DJNIFFY Great to hear! Yeah the small cables on those make it a little difficult to adjust them facing down for sure
lol....my brother!
great video.
Thanks!
Can you turn the strobes off altogether? I NEVER use strobes because of potential health issues with guests
I believe if you cycle through the programs there are a few without the strobe. Also, if you use DMX you can control that
I have 2 of them and I can’t wait to SELL them. Movers need to be brighter. They need to make a better version of this. I definitely like it for small gigs but not for weddings. Ps side note screw what the photographers want. I’ve been doing this for 23 years and never had a issue with a photographer and my lights.
Great video by the way
Thanks!
Interesting I've been djings for 35 years. And many photographers have said. Don't use effect lighting on the special dances.
1st - father/daughter - mother/son.
But that's here In So. California.
Yes the video & photos people will have the bride, groom, wedding coordinator turn off your lights for a while ( especially the blue ones for video) I just redirect all the lights overhead towards the ceiling... mom's never "audience scan your lasers".

Check out the gigbar move +ils movers are 32 watts now instead of 10. I prefer 100w minimum but the ease of this product is amazing for what I do. Mostly bars
I add these as standard lighting for weddings. But, they can always upgrade at an additional cost.
Have you figured out Totem mode?
@@AaronStrawn have you I order this they arrive Thursday
@@LB-lx8iq Nope. It's supposed to do it automatically but I never figured this out
@@AaronStrawn I get my set tomorrow God's will I'll try to figure it out and let u know
Have you done any deep dmx programming with serato or rekordbox? Wondering if this might be a good system to help learn how to automate something.
I ran SoundSwitch with it, and it was much better. DMX def has an advantage over AutoPlay
I see ur still replying to comments over a year later. Awesome. I have the Gigbar 2 and can never the the foot switch to do anything I want. I have just learned of the ADJ MyDMX Go. I saw another commenter saying they have it with their gigbar and it works great. I'm not sure if what I'm looking for exists but would be nice if the MyDMX would be able to listen to the sound and on my cue if i wanted to go into different lighting modes like soft to rave type or even better if there was a library of user uploaded lighting patterns for it. just need an easy way for it to more or less to intelligent lighting effects with minimal human interaction.
Maybe look into SoundSwitch. I'm not sure if any of the DMX softwares can do what you want it to, but you can set up shows and effects that can easily be cued up.
Nice review how high does the stand go? I’m like 6’2 would like this to go at least 7-8 feet high above me?
You should be able to get it up to 7, and with the right stand up to 8. It does rock a little cause of the movers, but should be fine
@@AaronStrawn i forgot this does not come with stand? Only mount correct?
@@DjTecniq it comes with a tripod and bag
@@AaronStrawn gotcha so the tripod extends to full 7 ft?
So much hate on these... no idea why.. While I will agree the zipper on the case broke really fast.. I have used these on so many weddings now and I get tons of compliments. As a wedding DJ my job is music... the lights get turned on once open dancing happens. Before that... there is too much going on and lights havent been necessary at all. Once the lights turn on I set the lights to auto. Dont even need to have it on sound unless you really want it to go crazy. For those saying its not bright enough.. once its open dance... best to turn all other lights down anyway.. few people want to go out and dance with full bright lights.. so it doesnt need to be any brighter. Also, no one is looking at the design on the movers saying... wow.. thats tacky... they are looking at the lights and going hey.. look at that.. its got a design and moves...
To sum it up.. this works great.. I have 4 of these and have had zero issue... I wouldnt even say they are loud since they are only ever going when music is playing.. all in all.. definitely recommend whether its for parties or weddings.
I’m with ya bro! I know lots of wedding DJs that these are perfect for. It seems that DJs are the ones that dislike them the most 🤷🏻♂️
Hey! How do you think this would go in a hall?
Size of the room def matters, I would say the wattage output on these you could only really depend on it lighting up the dance floor
Are these bright enough to use with smoke machine?
absolutely
Thats when They look The best brother! Cause The laser beams come out.. try it
I Love the gig bar idea but hate the derby and laser, I would trade the Derby for two similar Wash fx hex the laser I can live with
I've seen some people mod these out and replace those derby's with other wash lights
quite interesting... let's keep the DMX on
I can't seem to find info. on the max height this rig will go without being a top heavy mess?
I use a hydraulic tripod with it. Probably max it out around 7 feet. The movers do rock it, so I don't think you want it any higher than that
@@AaronStrawn 7 feet doesn't seem to get it over heads much. Have you had any issues with that?
@@garywboisseau nope
@@AaronStrawn Thanks much!
just picked mine up, and i see how its a disappointment without the dmx controller.. its like having the wacky inflatable arm man but with lights.
Lol. Yeah, dmx is needed
@@AaronStrawn Well i bought the My DMXgo, and wow does it not work whatsoever... Spent 10 hrs trying to figure out why it wont hold a stable connection to wifi, the device itself just doesnt work. (Not the light) ADJ is not responding, and when i look online there is a cascade of people who are in the same boat as me. Some even bought ipads to run this app, and they wasted more than i have. You never had connectivity issues? It will pop up for 5 seconds for wifi, but dissapears instantly.
What is the best setting to have it on automix
I prefered Sound Mode over AutoMix, but sometimes it would get to dark in that mode. So any of the first AutoMixes are good
Good tube, thanks, I have the move and Gigbar 2 with plans on getting a second Move for master/slave. The move is supposed to have Totem Mode according to the advertisement. Totem mode would be great as the lights should be on the dancefloor. Have you figured out how to get it on totem mode? Instructions are not clear and I haven't seen any tubes yet on how to do this.
I kept reading about that too and cannot figure out how to do it. I can’t see a setting for it, and it’s not automatic because the movers do swing all directions. I would love it if someone figured this out
Once I figure out totem mode, that's when I'll purchase the second "Move". This light is great for small to medium-sized venues.
@@ebnyflyer Another fellow ("Real Life DJ" from the UK) on UA-cam said Totem Mode was automatic (default) on the Gigbar Move. I just bought one for my band. Should be great for small shows! Fun!
Man. I should have just bought a couple of these instead of the truss and all the lights I have now. It would have been so much simpler.
They def simply things and get the job done
Simpler but suckier..... LOL
are all lights rgbw and not rgb?
According to their site, they are RGB
R these bright enough to use with smoke machine?
the Gigbar 2.0 absolutely is so I imagine the Gigbar move would be too.
Hazers will make these look better
He said "going down the pole" 🤭
You shoulda seen the unedited version haha
is it possible to get rid of the goofy ass flowers ?
Yeah, with DMX
I Dj many weddings and I had looked into this option. Unfortunately, it’s honestly not a great fit for Wedding events. A backyard party, sure.
It’s easier sure, but having lasers and moon flowers at a wedding is a waste of money. It’s tacky and ugly in photos that family would like to take.
Personally, I’d recommend a wash fx light. Way better and brighter.
Want moving heads, there are less expensive options out there and, with totems, it looks nicer and elegant.
Good honest review btw.
I think it all comes down to what you like. During the dance, anything goes, but for sure don’t turn these on during formal dances. I’m actually using the ADJ Dotz TPar for weddings
@@AaronStrawn definitely a thing of what you like. If you haven’t done so yet, invest in just 1 wash fx 2. It’s something I feel is worth having for every Wedding DJ.
When I was shopping I saw these and thought the same thing - I'd rather just buy lights I can move around, control each channel with DMX.
🦖 Yes! Jurassic Park! Ps... I’m just here for the funny comments and the movie references.
That was for you :)
If this has nothing but dope ass lasers on it, it would be called the legend bar

Can you spotlight the entrance with those moving heads.
You’ll need DMX to do that

Yo pienso que esta sobre precio, jmaz tienen una mucho más brillante.
Haven't seen the JMAZ ones, but interested in seeing what they do!
Gig bar is cool but the Jmaz Versa Flex is better but not for every wedding
Thanks for the review Aaron. In my humble opinion I think it looks tacky #af. It's so 80s looking all it needs is a mullet and a Casio calculator watch. Tripods are an accident waiting to happen with drunk guests. But just the look of it makes me cringe.
They’re def not for everyone, a party light for sure.
tripods are an industry standard. I've been gigging for 35 years and I've never had one go over, despite drunks, fights and people trying to dance with them. Set them properly and they're trustworthy... or "trussworthy".. heh heh. Try to "make them more narrow" and you compromise the design intent. That being said, I NEVER get the cheapest.. Manfrotto being my fave.

Good: Its kind of compact Bad: If you drop it, its $879 worth of junk
Not a good light for wedding can’t make pars stationary
They can be tightened to not move. I know a bunch of wedding DJs that love them, so I think, if you like them, go for it!
Anybody else getting nauseous !!!!
I'll put a "should take a few Dramamine before watching" disclaimer haha
BTW, the Chauvet cases are awful and will eventually fall apart.
I’ve had the zippers come off as well. That SUCKS
The pole socket is just tack welded on in a few spots and mine fell off the other night...
absolutely not. Parties yes all day, set it and forget it.
Sure, but I still think it's subjective. Lot's of wedding DJs like these
This is a party type light. I would not be using this for wedding gigs
those are awful
I don't agree with that, I know they are not for everyone, but for a light that sets up quick, gives you lots of options, I think it holds
Gig bar move the single worst piece of equipment I ever had - dotz better gig bar 2 is better - this was pap - flawed movers weak ass rubbish effect and the plus point of the gig bar 2 or the dotz that you could add fixtures to was that ease of set up n pull down and the fact you did not need to DMX which you actually do need to do with the gig bar move.
But...did you like it? haha
@@AaronStrawn well you could say that its ok if you only do gigs in a small room ....you cant turn off the strobe thing on remote it does not dim its a badly manufactured overpriced blinging chinese piece of crap thing in a case weaker and under more strain than kim kardasians bra
