Both sides having nukes is a very interesting dynamic. No more strategic depth. No more well thought out battle plans. Just a mad scramble to blow up the enemy's air capability before they do the same to you.
i am pretty sure there was a counter strategy developed that you can kinda see employed by the axis where they made an airport in every state and had only 100-200 planes in it to avoid losing everything with one nuke, but someone still fucked up and had like 3 to 4 thousand planes in that one airport.
@@Michaelonyoutubmy best guess is that they were re organising their air and just for few seconds they were stacked and by pure inconvenience bo was checking on their airports that moment
When the game lasts beyond 1945, nukes become the deciding factor in who will win. Nothing wins wars like dumping dozens of nukes onto your enemies until there's nothing left to nuke... Then you keep nuking just in case. Or to prove a point. Or both.
Gotta give the Axis bois credit where it's due, not often you see an Axis survive so long under constant nuclear bombardment. The fact they lasted close to 47 is insane. Definitely one of the best Hoi episodes this year!
To be honest, this was one of the most entertaining games in a while, not just the nukes, but because it really went back and forth between Axis and Allies. Yeah, it is torture that these games last this long (I believe the stream was like 7+ hours long) but I ended up watching every second of it. Also Dankus being sealion'd is a certified BOBG classic.
The funniest part was jumping over to Golden's stream to watch the moment when the 3-4k planes were nuked. Golden complains about his coop's micro of the airforce and says he's taking over to sort it out, and within about 8 seconds he's moved every single plane to one airfield and gotten them all destroyed. Truely a Golden moment.
The British military wargamed Sealion after the war, and I'm pretty sure they came to the conclusion that even in the best circumstances German forces in Britain would have been starved for supplies as the Royal Navy patrolled the Channel. I think they even concluded that Sealion might have shortened the war.
The point was the air: Germany never Sea Lioned not because of the Royal Navy, but because of the RAF. With complete air dominance, the Royal Navy wouldn't be able to do anything to German convoys, but they never got to the point of actually neutralizing the RAF. That has always been clear, Churchill said it himself.
@@12gark It's a combination. The wargames concluded that even if the Germans kept attacking the RAF, they would be unable to achieve air superiority over the channel. It was really a treat to experience the brief moment of madness when they counter nuked you as their last gambit, only to see that airport get restocked immediately.
Golden told his coop “you suck at air I’m taking over” and got half his planes nuked literally ten seconds later by moving them all to Stettin to reorganize.
After watching this game live on Bo's channel, I've taken a look at Golden's (Germany) VOD to see his reaction to some critical moments. Losing Britain was very surreal. Golden could not accept the fact that the island was doomed. He saw that he had no convoys, that all of the units were out of supply, but he fixated on the fact that his coop defended a river in Scotland instead of mountains on the England-Scotland border. He kept repeating that his coop lost the game, because 'with good micro, it was an EASY year or two delay for the allies'. Completely delusional.
