2:25 I think this is the second video of yours that I watch. And it is like meditation; relaxing, easy to "absorb" and lets your mind rest whilst watching you do your magic. Thank you.
Don't doubt yourself, I stated paint miniatures at the age of 57 during lockdown.... looking back they were terrible and whilst my painting is still not going to impress judges I'm so impressed with my own progress. Keep going and keep striving.
Brilliant, I’m not as good as you but people are blown away by the detail and the fact once I’m done, I toss them in the trash bin, Yep, can’t store them, can’t show them…on to the next one 🙂 it’s all about the process and creativity.
Detail, detail and more detail! thats what makes the difference. They asked Gary Player, "As golfer have you been lucky?" He replied "Well the more I practice the luckier I seem to get!" The answer is its hard work and dedication. Thats what's on display here, the mark of an expert is making something difficult look easy, well you've done that! Well done, another master class, you keep lifting the bar higher. regards Pat
A beautiful job CWM, as usual! I enjoyed the build immensely. Your diorama skills are incredible, and complimented by your excellent modelling skills. Looking forward to the next one! Cheers from Australia!
Love the Zepplin Background music in the beginning of video. Great detail down to showing wear on the thresh hold to the roof. Spent a lot of time in Italy reminds me of a farm not far from NAS Sigonella
Splendid work once again. I have that Marder III M in the late version awaiting paint and I know I'll be revisiting this for tips, as I so often do with your videos.
It looks so easy watching you doing it ... I especially liked the part when you made the roof tiles; you must be crazy ! :-) But the result speaks for itself; I've never seen a better looking roof. Honest. A lot of "story" without making the scene overcrowded; a realistic setting in perfect dimensions. Brilliant work, perfect eye for detail, astonishing craftsmanship.
As usual a great diorama along with tips, info.. Someone recently showed how to make tiles, but forget whom.. used either the das or another clay to form valleys for tile then construct..
I know this is completely random but when I saw your first video I thought "Young men don't usually wear pinky rings like that, wonder if his Grandfather passed it down" and the following day I read your "About Me" section to find out you took a 35 year hiatus from diorama building. It broke my mind... your hands look like they belong to a 30 y.o.. lol I've thoroughly enjoyed going through your videos, thank you for sharing!
Great working video with your approach and the used materials. The result is a grandiose diorama together with great vehicles and figures. More than well executed, Ian. Best wishes, Joachim
This is a truly amazing build, perfect details and I’m sure this was VERY time consuming! I do WWII model builds but not like this lol I’m working on getting there once I have more supplies. But again, amazing work and I am very, very impressed! 😎 Keep up the Smaug work Cw Modeling 👍🏻🤘🏻😁
I have now watched 4 or 5 of your builds and loved them all, Your eye for detail is remarkable. I don't know what country you are in but I wished I could find that foam and basswood here in America. So far no luck... Looking forward to your next one... I'm planning a diorama in the Ardennes complete. with snow.... always nice to look at... if you're not in it...
Thanks for watching👍........I'm in the UK and I know that other US viewers have not been able to find the same XPS foam. The product I use is designed for use in Underfloor heating and I buy it from Ebay if it helps.
@@CWModelling eBay? thanks for the tip. I'll check it out although I'm afraid having it shipped from the UK is going to cost me a fortune. We have insulation foam from Dow chemicals here in the US, the blue kind Verlinden used when I still worked there in the 1980s. But it's 15 mm (0.6") thick while a wall in 1/35 scale is merely 5 mm (0.2") thick I had my brother in Belgium measure the bricks of my fmr house in Belgium which was built in 1929 so the bricks are representatives of the era on and before WWII. So I will need to buy a foam cutting machine to split it in half to get a realistic looking wall thickness.. But again, I love your eye for detail and realism. What bothers me most with some dioramas is that they show walls with broken off bricks but never debris below it... same for roofs with roof tiles and wooden beams which you pay attention to... I cut my bricks from plastic strip with the correct thickness, coat them in red powder from street chalk to simulate the brick structure... Looking forward to your next video...
Fantastic news! Since I figured shipping ton the US from the UK would be impossible or too expensive I Googled PS foam and found similar sheets as the blue Dow Chemicals I have on the website of Hobby Lobby, an arts& Crafts chain here in the US. Small sheets but most important 3/16" (4.756mm) thick which is very close to the 5mm a wall is wide in 1/35 scale. For other viewers here in America go look for it at a Hobby Lobby store or order it online like me... I can now start on my two projects....
Really is one of my favourites. The brickwork and vegetation is so real. Excellent observation and execution. Nothing to add re the diorama other than respect and drool. Re the video. Really appreciate you sharing the paint colours etc. but can you leave them visible a little longer or maybe position them higher (youtube stuff and control bars obscure it at the bottom when you pause it to read). Either that or maybe repeat them in the text with the video. I feel bad for asking after you have worked so hard on this but it's a shame to waste the info. Awesome work and looking forward to the next one!
Thanks......and yup I realised after I'd uploaded that the text time was a bit short and a low position......my video editing is a work in progress at the moment but hopefully that'll be sorted for next time 👍 .......its moving to the top of screen😜
CW Modelling it’s very impressive TBH. Keep up the good work! Inspired me to practice my brick and wood finishes in foam/paint yesterday using your techniques. Worked well, so thanks yet again!

I think, "well he can't get better than the last one ,surely" and then you take landscape and detail to another level..!!! Outrageously brilliant. !!!
Impressive , seeing all the layers of color and texture work that nobody will see in the base structure is quite remarkable
Nice result
Again you use the human touch - the soldier washing his hair. Brilliant. Thank you for all your hard work well worth it.
Feels like a giant seeing this diorama. And those figures become alive. Awesome work !
Thanks👍
Very harmonious design with lots of wonderful details, excellent work!
The nature components are outstanding!
Such an art form.. I live in hope that one day I may be a quarter as good as this!! Hats off..amazing

Simply amazing. Seeing somebody following real builders techniques but in a way smaller scale. That roof is something else. Congratulations!!!
Awesome, thank you 👍
WOW! Great job on the roof.
Excellent diorama, job well done! I really like that soldier washing himself, the water is believable. Nice touch.
