I honestly don't know why I teared up. I feel bad for Ainz. He's the most powerful being in the new world and surrounded by multitudes of people from Nazarick, his kingdom, and his vassals. But truly he's alone with no equal. Even though he's an evil looking overlord, deep down he's just a lonely man who misses his friends.
At least there will always be a part of them with us. But in a way that makes the separation feel even worse. Overlord nails that feeling and is why I connect with Aniz so much.

It really gives off the vibe that everyone is their own main character, with deep lore (mind you, they do have lore), supporting and helping their guild with their power and abilities. As a veteran of online (Flash) games, this anime hit me in places I thought I couldn’t be hurt anymore. Too many games that shut down, too many people I played with who I haven’t written with in years…

remember when the king of the slain theocracy visited the tomb on nazarick, he he said that ainz had everything. Ainz doesn't he's all alone, his comrades are gone, with no chance of ever seeing them again.
He does feel sadness and all kinds of emotions, it’s just that the calming spell helps reign them in once they get excessive/overwhelming. It’s stated time and time again how much he misses his friends and dwells on it.

If he ignores the feeling- which he probably naturally can, by various ways- the passive effect won't activate because he didn't embrace the human feelings that an undead would never feel. As well as making sure the legacy they built together, The Legacy of Ainz Ooal Gown, will live on. Even if it costs him his life he will never let the guild they forged together be forgotten, nor will he ever let the proof of their friendship (Nazarick) go to ruin. It’s the least he can do after all…

As an MMOrpg player, this hit close to home, and one can really sympathies with Ainz. The friendship, the comradery in the guild and challenges that is acomplished together is glorious. But the sad and unfortunate thing such things eventually comes to an end, but never forgotten.
There was a side manga story where aainz meet all his friend again when the system has fix and the emotion of the npc is still genuine and finally meet their REAL creator and joyed their final moment until aainz successfully log out, but most pure emotion i felt, after aainz log off, when he wake up, all of his friends in the game was also in front of him cheering him being back alive for 10 years of the imprisonment in the game and his body remain normal because of life suppport that Rich friends provide it to continue battling it until he finished the game I cried a bucket of tears after i read that.
Touch Me was Ainz’s Hero. His Savior, however Ainz was always Touch Me’s ideal leader and best friend. It’s sad that Momonga won’t ever get to see his friends again, the creator even confirmed that if Ainz ever found his friends in the New World the story of Overlord would be a much more heartwarming one.
This is why I love overlord. The author writes and create some how a bond between reader and non main character with deep backstory and character building and just to kill them right away or erase it’s presence
I wanna see Ainz happy with his friends since ever since he was isekaid all he did was stress out and try his hardest to preserve and improve nazarik. I would love to see his friends return if that is possible, plus we havent even gotten to know half of them yet.

The whole time I was watching this anime I was thinking of clash of clans and my clan (Naobouch or something like that). Reminiscing all the good times and all the wars we won. I wish I could come back and see them all the again. Just seeing Ainz's clan go away reminds me of my clan and how I was the one who started tearing it up. I am sorry my clan and I hope I will see you again some other time.
I have a friend on mmo, probably my first online game friend named "Abdobody9", so much memories of doing raids and other things, we started a guild called "Killers" (i was the first member), our guild grows rapidly that we managed to put our guild name into top leaderboards.. But as we know.. we have to face the real life eventually.. one day i was waiting for abdobody9 as usual to go on raids and collect rare items but he didn't went online, until 1 week, 1 month.. still no visit, he took his leave without saying goodbye so i don't know if something happened irl or what.. untill 2 years later.. my notification said "Abdobody9 is online", i was so happy and emotional at the same time.. his words are he doesn't have time to play as he had to face the real life now, we spent our last game doing raiding and pvp before abdobody9 permanently leave the game.. Abdobody9 said that i am his first friend he made since he started playing.. Now my mind can rest in peace.. Goodbye abdobody9 (last online 6 years)
I remember me an my friend formed a clan in rust many years ago, the nine of us all had different strengths an weaknesses but together we where monsters. Then one by one life caught up and now its just me carrying on the clan name.
What I like about Overlord over other Isekai animes, is that the players actually have a legitimate or at least understandable reason to prefer the game over reality, as their world is a horrible dystopia. Once you catch that feeling you can also empathize with people who may also see the world that way, since there's as much realities as persons. It makes perfect sense why Satoru cherishes so much his friends and what they did together.
For real. You’d think you’d WANT to spend more time in a virtual-simulation game with all of your friends rather than live working daily wages in a box office job when the world around you is literally a toxic hell, that is plagued by diseases and corruption. Where you have to wear a gas mask 24/7 just to breath when you leave your house. Most of the streets are littered with dead bodies of children or orphans and everybody just walks past them cause this is normal and their used to this, due to society being this way for so long to the point that most citizens grow up with common knowledge of what dead bodies look like… Heck. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the population found it hard NOT to see a dead body at all around the time when their childhood starts…… It’s literally so f#cked, and for Satoru it gets even worse when you realize his mother died at a very early age in his childhood and he felt almost indifferent… Makes you wonder if he saw worse things before her death…
It's even more depressing when you realised that ainz is the 19th member of the guild that got stuck in the that world and the others that arrived before him is dead
that's not true. the other 18 people that have arrived before ainz are other players, not ainz guildmates. for example, the eight greed kings werent memebrs of AOG, they had their own guild base and guild weapon.
This really does show that when you think being taken to another world sounds cool, it actually isn't as cool as all things seem to be... I totally would want to go and explore another world but I would feel like I need to come back eventually. I would even be scared of something bad happening to my world while Im gone and not being able to say goodbye.

Because you never know exactly where the portal is in the new land, it could be over the water so I can do a dive, or over land where doing a dive would kill me... I really feel for ainz, i used to play lots of mmorpg games and it is sad to see your gaming friends quit the game or decide to just stop playing because of their personal life.
The saddest part is that somewhere between the mid to late volumes he gave up finding them. He knew then that the players before him couldn’t’ve been his friends and that, now that there was no more YGGDRASIL from which to isekai Player, he truly was alone.
LN SPOILER And then Albedo went on to kill them all. But seriously, I think Ainz' messing around with Albedo's flavour text will ultimately lead to the downfall of Ainz Ooal Gown
This made me tear up thinking of all the characters we have formed bonds with in real and video games. Maybe in our ideal afterlife we can see all them again and thank them for all the memories in which they have blessed us with.

i once played clash of clan some 6 years ago and had a clan members. we were so active that time but after games like mlbb or pubg came no one was left in clan. i was looking at my lonely clan with so many people but no one online. just our conversation from atleast 1 year remain.
It hits so hard because all my friends have grown up and have other priorities. We can't even hang out for more than an hour every month or so. I tried to replace them but, it doesn't feel the same I'm not happy anymore. And I'm slowly losing interest in the games we played together. It's....inevitable. I completely understand how Ainz feel atm.

It's surprising how well made the other clan member's designs are yet they're shown only for a few seconds.

@@hyperfracture I have read the light novel and the players you were talking about are not from his guild. So far, there is no information that any of his teammates have been transferred to this world. Be it the present or the past.

The whole time I was watching this anime I was thinking of clash of clans and my clan (Naobouch or something like that). Reminiscing all the good times and all the wars we won. I wish I could come back and see them all the again. Just seeing Ainz's clan go away reminds me of my clan and how I was the one who started tearing it up. I have a friend on mmo, probably my first online game friend named "Abdobody9", so much memories of doing raids and other things, we started a guild called "Killers" (i was the first member), our guild grows rapidly that we managed to put our guild name into top leaderboards..
But as we know.. we have to face the real life eventually.. one day i was waiting for abdobody9 as usual to go on raids and collect rare items but he didn't went online, until 1 week, 1 month.. still no visit, he took his leave without saying goodbye so i don't know if something happened irl or what.. untill 2 years later.. my notification said "Abdobody9 is online", i was so happy and emotional at the same time.. his words are he doesn't have time to play as he had to face the real life now, we spent our last game doing raiding and pvp before abdobody9 permanently leave the game..
Abdobody9 said that i am his first friend he made since he started playing..
Now my mind can rest in peace.. Goodbye abdobody9 (last online 6 years)
I remember me an my friend formed a clan in rust many years ago, the nine of us all had different strengths an weaknesses but together we where monsters. Then one by one life caught up and now its just me carrying on the clan name.
What I like about Overlord over other Isekai animes, is that the players actually have a legitimate or at least understandable reason to prefer the game over reality, as their world is a horrible dystopia. Once you catch that feeling you can also empathize with people who may also see the world that way, since there's as much realities as persons. It makes perfect sense why Satoru cherishes so much his friends and what they did together.
For real. You’d think you’d WANT to spend more time in a virtual-simulation game with all of your friends rather than live working daily wages in a box office job when the world around you is literally a toxic hell, that is plagued by diseases and corruption. Where you have to wear a gas mask 24/7 just to breath when you leave your house. Most of the streets are littered with dead bodies of children or orphans and everybody just walks past them cause this is normal and their used to this, due to society being this way for so long to the point that most citizens grow up with common knowledge of what dead bodies look like…
Heck. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the population found it hard NOT to see a dead body at all around the time when their childhood starts…… It’s literally so f#cked, and for Satoru it gets even worse when you realize his mother died at a very early age in his childhood and he felt almost indifferent… Makes you wonder if he saw worse things before her death…
It's even more depressing when you realised that ainz is the 19th member of the guild that got stuck in the that world and the others that arrived before him is dead

that's not true. the other 18 people that have arrived before ainz are other players, not ainz guildmates. for example, the eight greed kings werent memebrs of AOG, they had their own guild base and guild weapon.

This really does show that when you think being taken to another world sounds cool, it actually isn't as cool as all things seem to be... I totally would want to go and explore another world but I would feel like I need to come back eventually.
I would even be scared of something bad happening to my world while Im gone and not being able to say goodbye.

It hits so hard because all my friends have grown up and have other priorities. We can't even hang out for more than an hour every month or so. I tried to replace them but, it doesn't feel the same I'm not happy anymore. And I'm slowly losing interest in the games we played together. It's....inevitable. I completely understand how Ainz feel atm.
