Nice touch by including the historical origin of the soap.
Hi i got right off the computer and made the soap it came out Beautiful lighter a little light but smells the same the lather is wonderful thanks for the video ready to make another batch love it
I dried the plantain skins in my dehydrator and ground them with a coffee grinder. hth :)
I learned so much from this. Thanks so much for doing all the research, all the prep, then making the video. That's a lot of work! And the soap looks awesome.
I'm not going to lie, that soap sounds delicious.
Can't wait to hear how yours turns out!
You have to be FAST around here! I missed out on the soap, but vow to try it myself because I remember how much I loved a bar of black african soap I purchased a few years ago.
Thanks for this tutorial, CB !! xx MMM
Oh yes, I have always wanted to explore making African Black soap, nice recipe.
Yes
Your videos are so helpful. Please don't stop. I will be making this soap very soon.
woowww this is awesomeee thank you soo much to upload!!!😍
You are amazing! Sorry to have watched this too late for the soap opp... but I will be trying this recipe soon. My family is from the Caribbean and we practically live off plantains. :o)
Oh my thanks for reminding me about the soap....its on my shelf...going to use it today I totally forgot about it...hehehe...thanks for sharing the black soap.
The butters do raise the cost of the soap. I found the cacao beans at Whole Foods... they are not cheap either :) Oh wow, $15 is crazy high!
what a great tutorial thank you!
Smells way better than it probably tastes :)
I love black soap and swear by it. I even wash my hair and sometimes my clothes. Someone is always asking about my face and what I do to keep it clear and smooth.
Loved it. Thx for making this video
Here Teach, my you are early this week! Loved this video, Thanks for sharing this recipe, one of my Grandson's uses Black African Soap, it helps to keep his skin nice and clear from Acne that appeared when he became a teenager. I will try this one. Luv, Rene x
Maybe check out ebay for cacao beans for your next batch. Funny how something can be as common & simple as can be in one place & super expensive out of its element. Anyway, thanks for another super tut !
Thanks for watching.
Great vid Catherine
Well, this was a great vid, I have been researching black soap for a while. I know a lot of people who use it. But I like your version of how its made much better. Hope you don't mind if I try and make a batch inspired by you :)
Wow another great soap on my to do list, teach. I have plantain leaves dried but don't know where I'm going to get plantains here, never seen them, x Linda
i'd like a video about taking care of our soap after saponification: where to put it after cut, timing, where to store it...
it should be interesting :)
waiting for your next great tutorial!
Another keeper! I missed out on the soap also :(
Let us know how it turns out for you :)
The plantain looks like a banana but tastes very different. Hope you can find your ingredients :)
That may be best
I love the sound of all the wonderful ingredients. Is plantain a relative of the bananas? I would love to try this recipe if I could ever find all the ingredients. Thanks for wonderful tuitorial,
Very nice soap class Teach. I will try this one on my to do list. I also tried Plantain before and I did not like it. Won't eat it again, but hey the skins are worth it LOL!! Who would have thought?
Excellent tutorial. Like others on this thread, I'd like to know if there is an alternative to using a dehydrator which I don't have. If so, please specify temperature requirements and drying time. Thanks so much.
me too!
I love your videos- I have learned so much by watching them. I had heard about this soap and it sounds intriguing. Plus, it will give me an excuse to buy some plantains- yum! Also, if I can find laurel oil I am definitely going to try the Aleppo soap. I have searched online and so far haven't been able to find it- just the laurel essential oil, which I know isn't the same thing. Keep making videos, please! You rock!
Teach, love this lesson but I have a question to dehydrate the plantain in the oven would I heat it at 200 for... How long what am I expecting to see? Hope this ? Makes sense I want to make this soap so bad. Your a great teacher I'm so happy I found your link.
Normally Black soap is not so dark. My question is did it turn out that way because of using the bean and not the pod? Is there any property differences between the two? Oh love your channel!
how much oil do we infuse the additives in?
Your videos are so helpful thanks what was the recipe please thanks
Where I live rain has a pH around 5, would it be better to use distilled?
It is monday somewhere in the world :)
Dangit ! I missed the soaps. Super interesting. I have never seen Black African soap. It must be very expensive to buy considering the expensive ingreds. Where on earth did you get the cacao pods ? P.S. I saw a bottle of Dr. B's castille soap at the place where I buy the raw food for my dogs. It was $15 for the smallest bottle ...maybe 10-12 ozs. Crazy eh !
what was the process you used to dry and ground the skins?
where do u buy the oils?
sounds funny but,,how about an Egyption pyramid soap ;]
I can... pm me
Can you send me some of this and the apello soap please?!
Hi 😂 from 2023 after 10y
Hi!
lol the very quiet music in the background.. .wouldent of noticed it without headfones
Sorry MMM :(
This sounds like a wonderful soap!
Can you share your technique for drying and powdering the plantain? You seem to get a nice fine powder, something I can't seem to be able to do.
She said "inspired".
