Fun Fact : although Indonesia has "only" 3% Catholic out of 280millions population, the percentage is actually 8 millions Catholics ... compared to 99% Catholics in East Timor (1 million), 94% in PNG (2 millions) and 300.000 in Singapore ... So ... "only" 3% yes, but still the largest compared to the three countries the Pope is visiting now Plus, Indonesia isn't Islamic or muslim country specifically - it's not secular either because the government recognises 6 religions as the state's official religions, including Catholic ... and Indonesian ppl are religious in their own respective faiths so basically, Indonesia is a country of these 6 religions (Islam, Christian - Catholic and Protestant - Hindu, Buddha, Confusionist, and several folk faiths) - it's a religious country, but not based on one religion, it's based on 6 religions Indonesia also has 21 millions Protestants which is the largest in Southeast Asia - and the 3rd largest in Asia
Your comment says it correctly. Although Indonesia has an overwhelming Muslim majority, it is not an Islamic country. It constitutionally and officially recognizes six formal religions in total.
Actually, Catholic in Indonesia in 2023 around 10,5 millions based on Indonesia Bishops Conference (KWI) data. But according Official goverment (BPS) record around 8,4 millions Catholic.
in Indonesia, the Istiqal mosque stands across the road from the cathedral church, under the road a crossing tunnel was built tunnel in Jakarta connecting the cathedral and the istiqal mosque, a symbol of dialogue, tolerance, solidarity and love. Meanwhile....other tunnels in Gaza are being built to kill each other, destroy dialogue, hatred, revenge and anger. we are faced with a choice, which tunnel we choose. From Adam and Eve until 2024, we must use our free will wisely.

The real Truth does not need to prove and protect itself. The real Truth does not pretend to be "right". The real Truth is incompatible with arrogance, intolerance, hostilities and violence. There is no need to 'defend' your truth and faith, but essential to be faithful yourself and live accordingly. I am very happy that current Pope Francis' pilgrimage started from spreading such an important message. Faithfully your, bishop Vincent Berg.
What is the true objective of Pope visiting the largest Muslim population country, Indonesia? Why not China where majority of the population have no religion?
The pope only can visit countries which have invited him. China has not invited the pope. Religions face strict rules and controls in China. This will not change for the foreseeable future.
Not region in Indonesia province with Islamist majority because in Eastern Indonesia are Catholic Majority like East Nusa Tenggara, Papua and South Maluku.
@@Nathanielnath16 It may be true in East Nusa Tenggara (Portuguese colonial influence). But Papua and South Maluku are Protestant majority (Dutch colonial influence).
Because there are 8 millions Catholics in Indonesia. We are truly blessed to have Pope Francis visited us and led the Holy Mass here in Indonesia (3% Catholics out of the 220 total population of the country).

Yes Indonesia is a republic country with its own law and constitution. The 3rd largest democracy. No islamic law.
