I recently fractured my finger and im 1 week out from starting to rehab it. Will use these tips, is there anything I need to be careful with trying these tips? As far as pain to expect or stuff I might struggle with? Its been a long time since I dealt with this.
@@pengu4932 it is always good to check with your therapist because some of these stretches are more advanced. It can be counter productive to be too aggressive when first starting out.
@Volrath sorry I’m just now seeing this! But yes swelling is very typical in the finger and hand. I do have several videos that address swelling here- Why is My Finger Still Swollen? BEST 5 TIPS for SWOLLEN FINGERS-ua-cam.com/video/-l9_0N2IfjU/v-deo.html
@@VirtualHandCare ah, well, I couldn't afford an xray or docs visits, can't really afford a dedicated therapist or doctor. How come my finger my finger is broken,my little finger is also broken, something is also broken,it was just sewn up because the orthopedic looked at it all, will it still heal?I don't have any money,it was only a month when I had the accident.😥 Plz help..🤧
I love how I have to learn everything from UA-cam because my doctors do not explain anything I really think that I'm hurting myself more than I am helping
Thank you I went to an orthopedic and you gave me more ideas to help healing a dislocated finger than she did. I will now have more exercises for my finger.
Dear Michelle. This is an awesome video. I had proper hand trauma (coupled with two broken wrists) and wires in my little finger. I am 10 weeks since the accident and 4 weeks from the casts coming off. The little finger was 30 mm off the palm and I have been following the advice here. I got it to touch the palm today for the first time (for only a second). But that's 30mm over 3 weeks. It's still 5mm off the palm if I'm not aggressive but that's the difference between the little finger sticking out so that it gets caught again (and broken again) or not. At this pace it will take 2 to 3 more weeks before I can make a fist again. I would add that after aggressive stretching my finger and hand swells up and there is some water retention in the hand. I find that a combination of massage and taking every second day off helps. A very good (perfume free) moisturiser before any exercise and before you go to bed is very useful (especially since I have alot of scar tissue). With any type of exercise I find that exercising every second day (hard) is better than doing average every day. Also sleeping with the hand under me (to stretch out) or hand tucked into my armpit (to compress in) while asleep helps. I am also moving to using a small compression ball to power up the muscles of the small finger only. I would also like to point out that this is a very slow process so dont be disappointed. If you get 1mm extra over 2 days that's ok. Just see this as 10mm over 20 days. 10mm extra movement in a hand is a huge difference. I would like to say that this is the best video I found, so thank you very much for all the help. It works.
Idk if my experience is going to be like everyone else's. I broke my pinky when I fell on a Lyme scooter about a year ago. The doctors said my knuckle twisted a bit on impact so it was hard to set back into place. I had 2 pins in it for about a month and I watched this video after the pins were removed. To be honest I was hoping for a bit more mobility in my finger by now. I can bend it open and closed just fine, it doesn't feel very weird, but I'd say it's back to being maybe 90% of what it used to be. I think because of the twisting of my knuckle, the bones weren't back into the perfect spots they used to be, so when they eventually healed everything was shifted slightly out of place. It almost feels like there's a force field stopping my finger from opening and closing all the way. If I push it with the opposite hand I can move it wherever and it doesn't hurt at all, but trying to make it move in certain directions just by willing it to move doesn't really work. It almost feels like there's a force field pushing so it doesn't fully extend or close. The video has a lot of good advice, though ! But my finger broke weird so I could only do so much when I was healing. The stiffness is gone for sure, but my mobility took a hit. Hope this helps someone out there ☺️
Hi Michelle I dislocated my little finger 10 days ago. My Dr said I need to buddy strap it for 6 week inclusive of the 10 days past. I am sure at that stage my finger will be even more stiff although currently there is still swelling and lot of pain and sensitivity. I will definitely do these exercises in 4 weeks time.
Thank you Michelle, this video is a big help, also your video on Boutonniere deformity in which I especially like the illustrations and your explaining how displacement of the tendons account for the distal joint aspect of the deformity. All the other online videos and treatments and the in-person explanations by professionals of the mechanics of my finger issues were relatively confusing to me. In one week marks exactly 6 months since the quad skating accident/fall/sprain (check your skates, you skaters, those king pins, axle nuts and bearings can let you down, very rudely!!!) that resulted in a Boutonniere deformity of pinky on my dominant hand, initially mis-diagnosed as pseudo-boutonniere by more than one orthopedist M.D. Almost 3 months later, because I was not responding to conservative therapy, I asked my hand surgeon if an MRI might be beneficial. He approved my getting that MRI, a 2nd X-ray as well, and the doctor decided actual Boutonniere it was and envisioned surgery, explaining his ideas of how he would conduct it. I was all for it, but I got a 2nd opinion (from one of his colleague hand surgeons) which to my surprise was to avoid surgery and straight splint 24/7 for 6 weeks (possibly 8, said a 3rd hand surgeon, and I did continue an extra 2 weeks). The straight splinting I had been prescribed by my therapist had been only at night. Indeed, constant straight splinting did alleviate the pain and swelling I had been suffering for months. When I had only been straight splinting at night, increased pain, additional swelling and decreased ability to straighten the PIP joint would develop every day not long after removing the night splint. To counter the pain I was doing contrast baths several times a day. Now the finger is practically pain free and the swelling pretty much gone (and the hyperextension of the distal joint is gone, which had been very pronounced) and I'm now working on range of motion of joints of the finger. I sent my hand therapist the link to this video, saw her 3 days ago, and she likes this video. She gave me additional exercises, really very much like some shown by in this video. Instead of a Velcro buddy tape I'm using rubber bands, a some of which I made myself using a sharp scissors and an old bicycle inner tube. My therapist now expects me to make "a full recovery." Michelle, I wish I had seen your Boutonniere deformity video soon after my injury because your explaining that 24/7 straight splinting the PIP joint was the protocol would have saved me so much grief! Subscribed!
Wow! What a whirlwind journey. I applaud you for being persistent and getting multiple opinions. Your finger needed to heal. I’m grateful for your story and beyond happy to hear you’ll make a full recovery. 🙏
Great tips... Thank goodness for you and UA-cam. 1/ I have fight with aeroplane propeller and it won. 2/ Cut deep into 3 fingers and thumb (slightly more than halfway) including bone knuckles, but no break... amazing. 3/ Local GP spend hours stitching up because I refuse to travel the 300 km return trip to hospital. Big mistake. 4/ The GP told me to go see my own GP for further treatment. 5/ After 6 weeks my GP sends me to a Specialist Hand surgeon who did not want to operate and gave me exercise to do. 6/ After 3 months, and fingers still swollen and still not a lot of movement improvement, they send me to hand therapist. 7/ After 7 months, fingers still swollen a bit and only marginal improvement. I believe my medical team let me down by not telling me to exercise until after 6 weeks. By this time all my fingers, including my pinky that never got touched, were like concrete. I needed a wrench at the time to bend them ... no joke. As I speak I am able to make half fist which is better than it was after 6 weeks. The main problem stopping me get better is of course pain in the exercise, and every morning when I wake up, my fingers are at full lock again, instead of where they were the night before. The surgeon said if therapist not help he will operate... I dont want that as it could come out worse than it was before. Doctor cannot tell me why hand is still swollen afetr 4 months. Any extra tips or advice is greatly appreciated. Oh, forgot to mention... probably nerve damage, but thankfully no tendon damage as they go down the inside of hand and I was cut on the outside.
This is a great video, thanks!! I just recently completed 6 weeks in a splint for a mallet finger, and when I went to my ortho for the splint removal he just said "move and use it during the day, and splint at night". I asked if there were certain exercises or methods, and he said just use it. Ignorantly I went straight to making a fist and it seemed more painful than it should. Then I found your video, and it helped a lot. I think I would have re injured it if I kept going the way I was. Thanks so much for the video!!
Be careful with mallet fingers especially at only 6 weeks! They can start drooping again quickly. Here's a video I have on mallet fingers- ua-cam.com/video/cpQwVQIzODk/v-deo.html
I was told the same thing. Its crazy they bearly tell you anything! You just kinda have to figure it out on your own. I can afford any physical therapy...its just a scary thought to have that your finger wont ever work the same way...
This has been very helpful. Presently healing from a mallet finger due to a tendon injury. The use of heat, hot water and a small towel has worked out for me.
Thank you!, I tore the ligaments on both sides of my second finger at the second joint, and while it has healed I did not have the normal range of motion, even after holding it in a curled position for a couple of minutes regularly. Was afraid the stretching was injuring it because it hurt afterwards. But after seeing your video I started holding it in the curled position for 10 to 20 and then 30 minutes and then gently massaging the sides of the sore finger joint, the soreness went away quickly and the range of motion has returned!
Thank you so much. I injured my little LHF finger (bent backguards) so have a volar plate injury. The specialist trauma doctor was available to x-ray and diagnosed on week 3 of the injury but now the hand therapist he referred me to for rehab has a 6-week waiting list (!). So this video has been a finger safer! So thankful
Two mornings so far of doing all of these and my injured pinky is already curling all the way into a fist 🎉🎉🎉 I'll be doing these exercises for the next month or so, thank you
super helpful info! also as Michelle mentioned: the length of time of using the buddy strap to keep the finger flexed is very important, quite uncomfortable but there doesnt seem to be much improvement unless its held down for a long time.
Thanks so much I had stitches in my index finger after about 1 month I couldn’t bend my finger doing all of your techniques my finger is starting to be more flexible once again will continue to do them Thanks again!
Thanks for this video. My situation with my right index finger is EXACTLY as your example was, so this was very helpful! I have been consulting with the ortho folks at my hospital and they have been helpful, but the way you explained it felt much more engaging and understandable. I have modified my routine to incorporate leanings from your video. Looking forward to reducing the stiffness and getting the finger closer to 100% (or let us say, 98%).
@@dnangel4277 Thanks for asking. It has been an year. I would say I stopped monitoring closely and stopped any exercises about 2 months after this comment. At the time, there still was some residual stiffness. Functionally, the most important action which gave me trouble was squeezing lemons/limes. Otherwise general stiffness was all I felt. I'd say I was at 85%. Since then, it has improved, over time, so that squeezing limes is just fine. I would say my finger is at 95% and doesn't look like it is gonna get better.
I still have a middle left hand trigger finger I'm not yet ready for surgery hopefully this exercise will.help me to release the pain.and hopefully no more surgery .
I had surgery in early june on a pinky fracture and i appreciate these exercises so much because my ring finger got stiff along with my pinky in the process so I will be doing this 5 times a day!! Thank you Michelle :)
Did you have pins put in your finger? I had surgery on my pinky finger September 27 and the pins just came out last week. I paid for the surgery out of pocket and the doctor wants me to go to physical therapy right away to start moving the finger. It does not move at all right now. It is buddy taped to the ring finger. I may only be able to afford to go to physical therapy once or twice. I hoping I can ring game motion by doing the UA-cam videos.
@@HH-gv8mx ill tell you from experience all these excercises are a waste of time for people who had surgery and wernt able to move it straight away. Because you had the pin in, immobilising the finger, the damage has been done already. Scar tissue has glued everything together. The only way to fix is through another surgery.
Hey i also had a fractured ring and pinky finger and had to get pins in those and they were in for like 7 weeks. After that my fingers were completely bent and not moving at all.I did physical therapy for about 20 days and have gotten about 40% movement back. They stopped the therapy and suggested for me to try these excires at home and keep moving the fingers otherwise they'll get stuck again.I'll update if I see any progress.😊
Thank you SO MUCH! I Had a stroke in January 2021. I have varying degrees of movement & stiffness in the joints of my right hand. This is HELPING! THX!!!
Ring finger on right hand; been watching lots of videos today and doing massages and some exercises (hand flat, raise each finger one at a time) etc. but the doing one joint at a time really isolated the problem joint and the claw grip really gave me best relief. Great job!
Thank you so much! I've been in a splint for 2.5 months. No tears but my tendon was hyper extended at work by a student coming down the slide! I'm starting the exercises you recommend today. I have stiffness in the second joint and a slight downward bend at the tip that I cannot fully extend up. You've given me hope!
Great to hear! Just make sure your therapist gave you the go ahead for these type of exercises as they are not right for everyone. I've linked a part of a video here explaining what you are describing- ua-cam.com/video/4J5-fj-YcE0/v-deo.html
I got cut in my index finger. And the motion is EXACTLY like what you doing in this video, it stiffed after 15 days of the accident. I practice while watching your steps, Thank you.
Same happened to me its been 7 months. I go to PT 3 x week and work my fingers on my own but im starting to feel as though I'll be stuck like this forever!
Hi Michelle, after carpal tunnel surgery on my hand my middle finger, ring and pinky started giving me issues. After viewing your video they are better. I continued doing then exercises for stiffening and other 3 times a day for an hour. It didn't matter whether they hurt or not I'm determined to get them right. Now there's very little stiffening and the two trigger finger have not been sticking. I continued doing deep tissue message's to break them up. I'm stoked. Thank you for breaking everything down to us the right way.
Thank you so much. Like most people, I had no experience with trying to move a repaired broken finger. I thought I had lost the full use of my recently broken finger but this has helped me get things moving.
@@dnangel4277 Thanks for asking. It was a nasty break with bones splintered. I have enough movement to hold things but I cannot straighten it. It doesn't affect my day to day life and could have been much worse
@@dnangel4277 Yes, I had surgery with 3 temporary pins to hold the fractures together and, yes, I did exercise it as soon as I could. I'm used to it now and it really doesn't affect my everyday life.
Great suggestions - I'm two months post op on plant thorn synovitis in my index finger and still limited range of motion...osteo arthritis also a factor...I'm going to add these exercises to my home PT...thanks!
Dziękuję za ten film. Po wykonywaniu ćwiczeń, V palec po kilku dniach uelastycznił się i przestał być sztywny. Powiększył się jego zakres zginania. Thank you so much for this! I broke my hand a few months ago and my index and middle fingers are SO stiff. 2 weeks out of my cast post surgery I’m super concerned about my mobility. Excited to try these out!
How are you doing now? I had surgery on my pinky finger September 27 and the pins just came out last week. @@HH-gv8mx My hand is doing well! My hand is done healing and I’ve got about 90% of my mobility back. Occasional achiness, but other than that my hand is fully functional. The pins I had put in are permanent, I’m not sure if that makes a difference in my mobility. I did a lot of physical therapy though. If you can only go to a few appointments I would just make sure you really stick to the regimen they provide you and not get lax about it. Best of luck with your healing!
Thank you so much! This was very helpful! I broke my pinky, and while I have an excellent hand specialist, I can’t get into Physical Therapy for a couple of months. These exercises are really helping!
Thanks Mitchelle. Your excerise regimen for figer stiffness is amazing and helped a lot. Especially with the ongoing risk of Covid19 pandemic, a visit to physio is ruled out and your videos were a big help. You are the best💐
Thanks for the tips, had 3 metacarpals fractured a month ago and doing recovery but wanted some more exercises beyond wrist and hand open/close tabletop. Definitely working out individual fingers will speed up movement recovery.
Hey, how did you heal? I broke my middle Metacarpal base nearly six weeks ago. My biggest concern is the limited wrist movement and how swollen my Knuckles still are. I miss playing the guitar and am getting impatient lol.
thank you so much for amazing videos. i just had scapholunate ligament reconstruction couple of weeks ago. my fingers were soo stiff and found your videos to be so helpful with my stiffness
I'm can hardly bend my left-hand index finger, after an injury more than 6 months ago. Your video has at least given me some hope that I'll, one day soon, be able to play guitar again. I'll now be doing these exercises daily. Thanks!
@@EliasKowalski-p1o Very nice of you to ask, Elias! I've been making good progress. Though very slow, far better than I expected. I can now bend it 90 degrees immediately on waking up and 50% more by bedtime. I'm still doing the exercises, and even some of my own variations. I can also now form easy guitar chords, but far to slowly and with much stiffness and pain. 3 months ago, I'd accepted I'd never play guitar or violin again. Now I'm eagerly looking forward to proving myself wrong. I probably need just one more year. Do you have any such like injury? And are you also making progress?
@@choomanfoo thats really great to hear that youve manage to do some improvements!.. yes, ive actually also suffered a finger PİP joint injury.. although, mine was around 7 years ago.. actually there are some rezidual complications, that came from the injury.. the complications are that, my finger PİP joint is now permanently thickened and swollen and the swelling dosnt went down completely.. but lukely, i do not have any movement restrictions and pain.. i can fully use my hand daily.. May i ask you, do you also have some permanent swelling around your joint, that dosnt went away?
@@EliasKowalski-p1o How long did it take until you got 'full movement' back in your finger? And what caused the injury, if I may ask. Mine was caused through having to punch someone repeatedly who was in a psychotic state. The guy had just terrified my wife, and was then actually trying to kill me, after I protested his behaviour. I still have some slight swelling along the whole finger, but it's hardly noticeable. All three of my index finger joints still have restricted movement, but the difference between now and a year ago is tremendous.
@@choomanfoo Hey chooman, well thanks for your reply.. im sorry, that you had such an occurance going on.. you know, my finger PIP joint injury was around 7 years ago (cant remeber it exaclty).. the cause of the trauma was, when i hit my finger into a basketball (but cant quit remeber how i hit it, like in a hyperextended or bent way).. after the trauma, i actually never did treat my finger properly in means that i never immobilized the finger and i always tried to move it immidiately after the trauma (although i had movement restrictions back then), thus never went to the doctor initially.. but despite the lack of treatment back then, it actually didnt take long until i could move my finger fully.. i think (as far as i can remember it) it only took maybe 3-5 week only to having come into a state, where i could move my finger fully and without any problems.. and i think this is because, i have always tried to move my finger every day initially after the trauma, although i had movement restricitons.. and day by day it improved the movement of my finger.. altghough i do not have any movement restrictions and pain now, nfortunately, my finger PIP joint became permanently thickened and swollen and the swelling actually didnt disappear completely.. this is my consequence i think of improper treatment.. there also some slight instability at my joint, but its not sever.. i can still use the finger in daily acitvities.. sometimes, especially initially, i couldnt actually accept the state of my finger, as it looks, back then.. since it just looks thicker and more swollen as in the other healthy fingers.. i had a lack of acceptance, but now im better with it.. my doctors also told my, that there is actually no way to remove the thickening and the swelling after this time, it needs to stay like this.
Hi Michelle. I'm recovering from a mallet finger injury in my pinky, there was no bone damage. I wore a stack splint full time for almost nine weeks and am now trying to regain mobility in that finger. It seems healed, it is perfectly straight and I can straighten it after bending it but I can only bend it a tiny bit due to the extreme stiffness. I was wondering how much pain is acceptable, when you say to bend all the way down? I'm not going quite all the way down but I'm doing the best I can and I am in a moderate amount of pain. I also feel some creaking in the joint if that makes sense. Though I'm fairly certain it's healed since it snaps back to a straight resting position with no trouble. I guess my question is, should I stretch through the pain for a fuller bend in the joint or just do smaller stretches daily until I'm gradually able to work my way up to a deeper bend? I'll keep working on the exercises, appreciate the video. Thank you. edit: Just an update for anyone who's curious, I've been stretching through the pain and it's getting better, it's still a bit stiff and sore but I'm seeing a huge improvement. I could not bend it as far as she was saying to in the video so I just did the best I could at first (WITHOUT forcing it past the point where it felt like it would snap in half) and now I can bend it all the way with only a small amount of pain and stiffness whereas before it would only barely wiggle. I imagine if I keep going it will be doing just fine in a couple more weeks. Thanks for the video! Very very helpful.
Thank you for your update! My apologies for not seeing this comment earlier. If anyone needs additional assistance I have a very detailed, progressive self treatment program here- malletfingertreatment.com/courses/after-mallet-finger-surgery-the-progressive-exercise-program/
I had nerve repair done on my index finger and I never got therapy to help with movement. I will try this for aslong as I need to get my finger to straighten. This has been very helpful, thank you!
This is very helpful! I have been working on my entire hand from a broken wrist and the index finger has been the last to get back to normal. I did these exercises and I can tell a huge difference! Thank you!
It seemed to take a long time! My doc told me it would take 18 mos to 2 years and he was right! It will be 2 years in Nov. i am able to do all the normal with my hand now and I started golf in May. It was well over a year to get rid of stiffness. I also had carpal tunnel surgery after my cast was off. So I had a double whammy. I can get inflammation at times if I eat processed foods like crackers and chips or too much beef. (Limit it to 1-2x a week)
Thank you so much i've been having trouble with my pip finger joint after a fall 3 years ago where i'd damged my volar plate. Strapping my finger as at 6:20 has really helped the joint both with range of motion and no more pain. So glad i found this video.
Great video! I’m recovering from a dislocated finger, an injury I suffered over 5 months ago. The finger was buddy taped, perhaps too tightly and I have two injured fingers. I’ve been doing most of the exercises you’ve shown here, but will start to incorporate those longer, lighter stretches with the band. I have been giving the fingers a rest for a couple of days after exercises. Would you suggest perhaps lowering the intensity and doing this every day instead? Also, the fingers are quite bent. While flexion has improved, extension has worsened. Recently, I’ve been splinting every couple of days for about 20 minutes. They straightens out a bit, but overnight go right back where they were, and flexion is more compromised for a day or so after splinting. Please, let me know if you have anything more specific for extension. I imagine that if the swelling finally goes down, this will improve, but concerned as it’s the middle and ring fingers on my dominant hand.
Hi Patrick! A finger dislocation can be very complicated. What type of dislocation was it, meaning which direction, and were you given a type or grade of dislocation? This will all determine how your treatment was decided by the doctor. Email me at info@virtualhandcare.com
Hello my name is penny and i recently had a stroke my left hand index finger keep cutly under i recently just learn a little bit about the buddy wrap what do you suggest please respond back inneed of help
Thanks Michelle, excellent tips, loved your video. I busted my index finger 4 weeks ago. I have it in a splint (piece of dowell strapped to my finger) to keep it straight. Very painful if I bend it.
Hi Michelle, It’s been 9 weeks that I broke my wrist and 3 weeks that my cast is off. I am watching your wrist exercises videos and doing my exercises with you. Your videos and instructions are excellent. I am an older person (71) so my process might be a little bit slower. How long approximately takes to fully recover fractured wrist? Thank you for your videos💜💜
You are welcome! Wrist fracture recovery can take several months to a full year depending on age, severity, length of immobilization, etc. Lots of factors but hang in there! Sending lots of strength your way! 💜
Thank you, I started the process of 2 stage flexor reconstruction on my middle finger. The surgeon said to keep working passive motion, and I’ve been trying to find ways to get my finger to fully close in. I’m uncertain if it’s the silicon rod or just the surgery in general that is making it so stiff. These tips are very helpful, I’m totally ordering that buddy tape!
A 2 stage reconstruction is a big undertaking and a long process! Sounds like you are on the right track with keeping your finger as supple as possible at this point. Definitely continue following your surgeon and hand therapist's recommendations. Good luck to you!
Thanks for the exercises! Really helping :) Quick question: I dislocated my ring finger at jiu jitsu quite badly about five weeks ago. I can feel these exercises helping me get closer to being able to make a fist again (thank you!) but I'm not seeing any improvement in terms of being able to straighten the finger fully. Which exercise might one focus on for straightening?
Try this video! ua-cam.com/video/IH6WJX5FGMs/v-deo.html. Sometimes 'dislocated' fingers have more going on such as a ligament tear. If has been 5 weeks and it has not improved I highly recommend to see a Hand surgeon.
i had a fracture on my ring finger and had applied a cast for 16 weeks and now my fingers are very painful and swollen and very stiff what can i do. i cant try to move them because they are very painful
A hot-water dunk in the morning is very helpful. In conjunction with the "claw" technique, I am getting my arthritic left pinky stretched out. As a pianist, this has been a traumatic development but the exercise helped, and with a little Ibuprofen yesterday, I played my first gig since the pinky acted up and it went fine, without noticeable pain. Thank you.
Excellent info. Thank you so much for taking the time to do it. I am sure lots of people, including me, appreciate it and will greatly benefit from it. Muchas gracias!

It works.
how is your finger nowdays doing?
Thank you so much. I was a little worried my finger would be stiff for forever, but your video gave me some reassurance :)
Same here
Divonn Thornton Jr same dude I broke my hand and my fingers have been stiff for a month
How’s your finger now?
Now your fingers are okay? Please reply
Hope this helps someone out there ☺️
Hi Michelle
I dislocated my little finger 10 days ago. My Dr said I need to buddy strap it for 6 week inclusive of the 10 days past. I am sure at that stage my finger will be even more stiff although currently there is still swelling and lot of pain and sensitivity. I will definitely do these exercises in 4 weeks time.
I am stiff from a broken finger and stiff pinky, six weeks in. Great advice! Super video. Very helpful. Thanks! Saving this !!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
I did those techniques while you instructed. My fingers are pleased with the results in just
one session. Thank you!
How are your fingers now?
Thank you so much. I just had wrist surgery and need to get my fingers in a closed fist in two weeks. This helped me get my fingers moving. 🙏🙏
Glad it helped!
So good thank you!!!
Had a finger stuck for 10 years and helping so much!
10 years...WOW! So glad it's helping!

TYSM THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH CAUSE I HAD IT FOR YEARS AND IT HELPED ME I FINALLY CAN MOVE IT THANX YOU SO MUCH
I'm so glad!
I can afford any physical therapy...its just a scary thought to have that your finger wont ever work the same way...
how is your finger nowdays doing?
Did it actually work because i cant bend my pinky all the way and its not curling to make a fist
how is your finger nowdays doing?
Thank you so much. So thankful
Two mornings so far of doing all of these and my injured pinky is already curling all the way into a fist 🎉🎉🎉 I'll be doing these exercises for the next month or so, thank you
how is your finger nowdays doing?
super helpful info! also as Michelle mentioned: the length of time of using the buddy strap to keep the finger flexed is very important, quite uncomfortable but there doesnt seem to be much improvement unless its held down for a long time.
This is the best video i found for my fractured pinky recovery
So glad you found it! Thank you 🙏
Wow! Liked the last tip. I'll try it on my forefinger and let you know my results. Thanks.
Great! Let me know how it goes!
This is very instructive. Thank you

How is your index finger now?
@@dnangel4277 Thanks for asking. It has been an year. I would say I stopped monitoring closely and stopped any exercises about 2 months after this comment. At the time, there still was some residual stiffness. Functionally, the most important action which gave me trouble was squeezing lemons/limes. Otherwise general stiffness was all I felt. I'd say I was at 85%. Since then, it has improved, over time, so that squeezing limes is just fine. I would say my finger is at 95% and doesn't look like it is gonna get better.

@@dnangel4277 Same my pinky fractured and I am watching this video did it help you?
THX!!!
Wonderful! I am thrilled to hear that!😊
Ring finger on right hand; been watching lots of videos today and doing massages and some exercises (hand flat, raise each finger one at a time) etc. but the doing one joint at a time really isolated the problem joint and the claw grip really gave me best relief. Great job!
So glad it helped!!
Very helpful! Recovering from wrist fracture with stiff fingers. Thanks!

I'm stoked. Thank you for breaking everything down to us the right way.
you're a gem! just got my cast of after ORIF surgery and this is really helpful. all my fingers are stiff. thanks so much! I hope they get better.

I thought I had lost the full use of my recently broken finger but this has helped me get things moving.

Dislocated my index playing basketball. I’m doing all your exercises and it’s helping a lot. Thank you

Thank you.
edit:
Just an update for anyone who's curious, I've been stretching through the pain and it's getting better, it's still a bit stiff and sore but I'm seeing a huge improvement.

Update

A 2 stage reconstruction is a big undertaking and a long process! Sounds like you are on the right track with keeping your finger as supple as possible at this point. Definitely continue following your surgeon and hand therapist's recommendations. Good luck to you!

Thank you for this video!!!
Thank you. Finally a video that is exactly what I needed. I was not aware of how to fix this. Now I have hope.

Thank you.
You're welcme! Love using warm water as a quick way to loosen up achy joints!
