- Slapped together from staying up too late watching EVO Japan. Not gonna lie, looks real cool, but its gonna be a long road for me to get back into Strive for sure.
Opinions and speculation based on my Xrd and Plus R Slayer experience. Hope my combined 2500 hours serve me well in predicting what direction they're taking him in.

I'd honestly be suprised if Pilebunker just instantly wallsticks from any range. Pilebunker loops are so iconic I can't really see them limiting you to one, maybe two bunkers.
Though then again, RRC probably gives you more anyways so who knows. We'll see.

The scenario there was wall slump on grounded counter hit.
Wall slump being the state where you can't escape via holding a direction but are instead forced into oki if the oponent doesn't hit you whilst you're stuck to the wall.
Hopefully normal hit has wall bounce, that'd be fun.

He kinda walks before the bdc like thing which makes it look like a backdash. Could be they just gave his backdash a follow up to kinda mimic bdc tho.

It's pretty much the same "gatlings" for everyone in Strive as always.
I'd like more unique stuff like he was different by using links before. Also, no BDCs as well. Even though he looks stunning visually, I'm kinda bummed out tbf.
But that's like Strive in a nutshell at this point.

Just weird the one person who didn't have gatlings wouldn't keep some of that uniqueness to him. The rest of strive changes makes sense
They already gave Slayer gatlings in Xrd. His air combos are cursed in Xrd compared to +R.
Air combos sure but grounded kept it link based on xrd
The slayer community is the funniest and dandiest of all guilty gear communities

Slayers been one of the 2 characters I've been waiting on so I'm actually gonna commit to learning him instead of staying glued to the bed. (Although nothing can get me forever off bed)

Kind of hilarious that SF6 Akuma just got his gameplay trailer in the same day.
Kinda want the cinematic super to be an alternate version of BBU, that would be the sickest thing. Or they could lean into the young Slayer more and make that Goku Moroha mode of this game. Man, so much new stuff, which is surprising for Strive.

@@LucidButtonMasher yeah A.B.A does not have an even more powerful variant of Moroha in Strive, hell, Moroha does not have much of a downside, aside from a much shorter duration. So she just goes in and out of install many times a round. While uh, doing the same thing in +R is death.

There's no crosswise heels in his moveset I hope they'll add that move in the future

I wouldn't make any assumptions on what isn't in his moveset juuuust yet. We haven't had the character breakdown yet, and the trailer was only about a minute and a half.
I'm sad, that he doesn't have the Arial super. Hopefully it will showcase it in the breakdown video, but I keep it low for now.

I was worried about the lack of AA options after seeing it as well. Straight down Dandy or eternal wings would be nice to have instead of a grab super imo.
I'm kinda worried that move during the Asuka scene might be a new 6p...

As someone that doesn't even play Slayer, I hope he's fun for the people like mister Lucid "Unga" Button Masher over here. I don't even plat Strive, but I hope more people can enjoy it
As for the gatlings, I feel like it makes sense? Like, if he had to link his normals in the games where everyone had a lot of gatlings, now he gets gatlings in the game where others have to link more of their normals? Because I feel Slayer's thing is that he plays different, very different compared to every other character given that he's, you know, he is HIM
But again, I don't even play this character or this specific game, I'm just sayin shit

As someone who missed the time xrd was popular and played struve as my first fighting game, I always wanted to learn slayer. I always found xrd/accel core kinda hard to enter, and because it's easier to find people for quick games in strive, I always preferred to play it over the old games.
Now that slayer is finally here, I will start maining him immediately! I only play jhonny, and it seems slayers dash is the same as his, so that's a bit of a plus. Can't wait for him to be released!
You'll hopefully get some more distance with the dash and be invisible too
@LucidButtonMasher I mean slayer with dash macro is kinda nuts lmao. Imagine if he has 2 dashes, one normal small dash, like jhonny's and gio's one and its smaller distance and slow as a whole and one which needs to be inputted like in xrd. It would be pretty bonkers

This is among things I did NOT want to happen, guess we'll see how much of Slayer he will retain, also regarding gatlings - there were no exceptions to them so far so Slayer isn't gonna be one either.

@@LucidButtonMasher Yeah, the screen zoom in after the hit seems to be the counter hit zoom in with the text edited out, so I'm thinking that they made it like Xrd where counterhit pilebunker just makes your opponent explode.

That aside yeah as expected simplified to Gatling , the upper cut pretty sure is CS (jump cancel) double hitting punch maybe FS (zato has) 2S 2H 2D is a little ambiguous but pretty does the job anyway .
Being honest previous 4466 has to go can't fit in strive , they did gave a parry thing seems like to compensate .
Also looks like simplified dandy step has forward short (p?) Backward long (k?) Already does side swap feed back to last point .
Following (p) bunker (k) low (s) overhead plus🙏 (h) for side swap with momentum from k step maybe ?
The super look like (A)time stop invincible counter (B) hit grab? Or command throw ?

Haikus are still present, but now as a victory screen with his beloved Sharon. And as in Xrd, the characters we defeat answer "Dandy" at the end of the sentence.
Wow, Slayer pretty much the same while any other returning characters become something different than their previous iterations. Slayer fans eating W and definitely play Strive.

As someone who has felt that the designs for Strive have been mostly hits with a few misses i can confidently say.
Slayers Strive design is an absolute homerun might be the best redesign in the whole game.
