    I was wrong. The 90 degree angle brass fitting coming out of the fuel tank was partially obstructed causing engine bog under a load.

    Really cool to see a Tigershark! I still have a 98 that runs like a top.

      I just found another one sitting in a guys yard two days ago. I may go and make an offer on it. I know these got a bad rap but they are fairly unique and I noticed parts are actually less expensive.

      @@ShadetreeJetski You're right. Mine has cost me very little to maintain and is quite reliable. Not to mention easy to fix.

    Where does the cooling water /air flow go in to a jet ski? So confused. Isnt the jet below the water line ?

    • @ShadetreeJetski

      The jet pump pump impeller pulls water into the engine to cool it. This is why you dont want to ride in shallow water as it acts like a giant vacuum pulling mud, sand and weeds, sticks, shells into your engine and it can cause overheating.

    Hey - I can solve your issue. The port size water exhaust opening needs to be partially blocked so the coolant(water) can get around the engine. If it is not restricted, then the engine will go into limp mode and won't allow it to get to full power. Limp mode occurs when it senses an overtemp a limits the RPMs. It should only trickle out of the side port. BTW, I have a 1995 TS Monte Carlo 690

      So that can be accomplished by threading a smaller exit fitting into that hole?

    • @cannonjanes994
      @cannonjanes994 3 роки тому

      Yeah, I actually use a valve for a garden hose and adjust it manually when I'm running it. The water should only just trickle from that hole and it will be hot. If the hole is not almost completely blocked, then there will not be enough back pressure to force the cooling water through the exhaust and motor. Your TS will sense that it is over heating and go into limp mode.

      @@cannonjanes994 so you have a hose valve sticking out the side of the hull? That is funny. I figured I could chamber it down somehow. This ski idles fine revs fine, but when it is under load it cuts out like it isnt getting fuel. It will shut off and is usually hard to restart.

      @@ShadetreeJetski like I said, throttle the flow out the side so that it is barely a trickle. How you do it isn't relevant as long as there is enough resistance to push the water back up through the engine and exhaust manifold. You can run the ski in the water with the seat off and disconnect the hoses one at a time to see how the cooling water is flowing. Alternatively, you can just feel the water flow through the hoses or see it if your hoses are clean and clear. And you are 100% correct about running it when backflowing it.

    At the 3:18 mark where does that hose go to that you have on that fitting?

      I think it was basically a vent hose that ran to the airbox. I dont think water ran through it.

    I have a 95 Daytona, when I got it the engine was blown up so I rebuilt it. It didn’t have spark so I replaced the ignition coil yesterday and it ran great, but today I went to start it and there’s no spark again. I tested the resistance and voltage on all the wires I thought could be causing the problem and they all are what they’re supposed to be so I’m kind of stuck. Do you have any ideas for other things I could try?

      @krman8703 you probably need a cdi box also called an igniter box. The jet ski junkyard near me had a daytona last time I was there. Before you spend that much test your stator for continuity through the coil.

      @@ShadetreeJetski I tested the coil and it looked good, got a new cdi on eBay and still no spark

      Nevermind, turns out there was some water or something in the crankcase
