I keep having to remind people I am not on a diet, I am diabetic. I monitor my carbs because my pancreas is broken if yours works then enjoy the damn carbs! x

@@KssN27 it’s not always that simple. other medical conditions, like PCOS, can make someone more prone to developing T2D- even if they wouldn’t have developed it if everything in their life was the same except for the other risk factors/medical conditions they have. let’s not blame people for things that are sometimes completely out of their control

@@KssN27 Weirdly aggressive comment towards T2 diabetics. T2 is very different from T1 including the fact that food and activity level changes can lead to remission with no medication or insulin.

I don’t have diabetes but I do have insulin resistance and am at risk of becoming pre diabetic. So I do find that eating carbs first, especially carbs that aren’t paired with fat and protein, makes my blood sugar levels wonky and I end up crashing later.
If you’re not sure this will work for you, listen to your body. If eating “naked” carbs make you feel extra fatigued or nauseous afterwards, eat them later with the meal and “dressed up” with fiber, fat and protein.
If it doesn’t matter, don’t worry about it!

My doctor told me that is exactly what pre-diabetes is and you should be having a glucose monitor every day. My doctor said there are diabetics and pre-diabetics and everyone else. So insulin resistance is most likely are you checking your sugar three time of the day as somebody with insulin resistance?

I love how you adress the research but also the practical take away from it. I have heard this advice years ago in a different context: it helps you edge out some of the calories from carbs if you are allready full from the veggies and protein on your plate. missing out on fiber, micronutrients and protein would be worse than missing out on carbs. I try to do that and if I am full with carbs leftover I save them for the next meal. Now I am not going to deconstruct my lasagna, but if I have the parts of my meal on my plate next to eachother it is something easy end effortless to do.

This is taken Glucose Revolution, please check her stuff she’s writing actual books and helped women balance out their hormones by having better control over their glucose level. She’s not selling protein powders or supplements that we don’t actually need.

More importantly Jessi specifically talks about the impracticality of taking apart your meals. Instead she’s just suggesting adding a veggie starter. I have personally felt so much better following just a handful of the hacks and I’m grateful because the sugar crashes and the constant fatigue was ruining my life.

Sounds like a slippery slope to a weird eating disorder or some OCD type condition to continually deconstruct and obsess over consuption order of your foods.

Diabetic here. Just focus on eating your carbs with a protein and a vegetable. Not necessarily separate and in a sequence. The order doesn't matter. Just have them together. The fiber and protein will help control your blood sugar regardless.
