Not only did he have those two gear viewable from the back on the vintage, but the red heart was also a nice touch back then.

absolutely. and when you work the gears his heart slides up and down. it was an important story point for him too. (I don't remember exactly who) stole the heart out of him and he became a bad guy, until he got it back. very sad that this isn't included.
I'm considering cracking my Son's open (whenever we eventually get it) to mod that feature in there. 🤔 shouldn't be too hard unless the arm sockets really get in the way, which I doubt.
sucks that I'm considering having to mod a fig straight out of the box 😒

It is really sad they got lazy in this figure since they worked so good to make more joints in those figures as a renewed feature in all the series.Maybe i believe they cost would be a little higher in general who knows! :(
Origins has made some huge mistakes like not including a less than 1 dollar mini heart... or figures not rotate/punching they used to do in the vintage line... not paying a human translator it's also such a huge fkn bad sense of saving bucks, cmon, it's not that expensive even to use google translator Mattel!

He's also missing his "heart." If you look between the back gears and front gears on the vintage Roboto, he has a heart attached to his neck peg. Sad that he doesn't have it on the new one.
That is the most shameful thing on this figure. The heart was an incredible detail on the original for kids to understand that, besides being a robot, he had a soul and kindnes.
@@IuriFiedoruk Yup. Man-at-arms gave it to him so he could have emotions and understand/relate to living things.
He really needed that heart. Without it, he's just a robot that Skeletor can control.

Awesome review, great to have you back and in top form. Agree the back needed the colored gears or the Heart the Classics had. Other than that great figure, now if we can just get Wave 2&3 distribution going in the US.
The missing heart makes me sad. Such an oversight.

After having this figure in hand for a month and never being a Roboto fan in any form or toyline, I think this version might be in my Top5 so far. He’s a well made and very retro figure and is so much fun. I love the flapping visor every time his gears move😂
As soon as you twisted his waist and he did the chomp chomp, instant smiles!

He is not just missing the gears on the back, more importantly, he is missing the heart from the vintage figure that Man-at-arms gave him.

very cool , I'm looking forward to all the ones from this wave. interestingly when I saw how detailed the arms are I can totally see them reusing them to make a new adventures style skeletor in classic vintage look !
Great review! Thank you! I miss the "circuit boards" from the Vintage version, too. But I'd love to see someone take a Molotow Liquid Chrome pen to the "silver" parts on this guy, though.
Would it be weird of me to notice that his "heart gear", is missing as well?!? I used to enjoy looking at that little detail. Oh well, still a nice interpretation of the classic!
Nice review. One of my favorites as a child. Another thing missing from Roboto is the heart in between the upper gears. That was to show Roboto had a human side (or that's what I thought when I was younger).
Just opened a vintage on the card Roboto today and got a powdered red dye from the legs, paint, staining my finger tips!

I still remember getting Roboto when I was 3 or 4. It was Fourth of July, and the best place to view the fireworks back then was at the mall. So we got there a little early and I got to go to Kay Bee Toys. I'm pretty sure I lost the alternate weapons that night.

Im in Austin, TX. I'm only missing the Sky Sled from wave 1 but still no sign of wave 2 at all here, at three different Wal-Marts🙁
@@RoyceLovesHisShotgun I’m here in The Dallas area with pretty much the same results. In fact when the line dropped all I could find for the first month was He-Man, Skelator, and Man at Arms. Everyone one else was snagged up or in some stores just one to a case. The only sky sled I found was missing the Prince Adam. Hopefully after the exclusivity runs out these figures become easier to find.

the head sculpts on some of these are a little weird but it's a great line and it's so nice that they have the original action features

good to see you back dan iam glad you are better. love the card back roboto tri clops art work. i prefer the vintage one over all. with origins roboto figure you could use chrome pen do a first coat then leave it to dry say 24 hours then second coat. great review dan.

These are already hitting near me (in Canada) but the entire line has just been so very hard to find. I've been lucky enough to score a few at retail, and a few more at a not-unreasonable markup, but some prove more elusive than others, and scalpers are killing the joy. Here's hoping I find this wave
Definitely getting him ASAP
You can fix the vintage color with a magic eraser and water its just the red lacquer paint that leaked onto the silver. I was hesitant at first but it works and you can scrub it hard to take the red off.

I had a slight issue with mine. I think because of the clear plastic box pieces on the chest, the inner workings aren't as secure as they could be, so removing one of his arms made the connecting peg in the body to become misaligned and I couldn't get the arm back in. I had to use tweezers to squeeze the chest pieces together through the arm hole so I could re-insert/connect the arm. Now I'm afraid to remove/swap it because I may not be able to get a arm back in.
I love your reviews but really miss that subtle background music you would use in the past Classics reviews. Please bring that back! 😋

9:36 That silver boot on the vintage one will clean off and become silver again. I don't remember the exact details about the issue, but I've tested it out on my figure and it works.
Got my Roboto yesterday, was going to skip him seeing as we only got the Club Grayskull one in January but I couldn’t pass once I saw him on the pegs. The bright colours and crisp plastic see through torso was very nostalgic!

I would advise not to pop the arms off because the disks in the shoulder can come loose and it can become very difficult to put back in.
You can clean the vintage legs with water and a cloth it will make the boots silver again. Pretty much like they where back then
I'm really digging the Origins line. I can't wait to see a Stinkor and Spikor out on the pegs. So far i've scooped up all of wave 1

That’s exactly how my vintage Roboto’s legs look. It’s so sad He was always one of my favorites.
The red and blue circuitry inside the vintage was also a subtle detail missing from this new one.

Roboto was one of my favorite figures growing up. Just got this version in the mail the other day. Was so disappointed to see his heart and the back gears weren't included. So bummed.
The Origins figure is missing his heart and you right the two gears in the back but cool other wise.
Will Mattel be releasing more action figures in US, because I can’t find any in Walmart.

If anyone wants to try and fix the back gear and heart problem, I think I have an idea. So, first you cut the torso in half along the seam. Split the torso open as carefully as possible and take it apart. Attach the heart and gears to the metal rods, (you’re probably gonna want to use a broken vintage Roboto for those parts, or you can sculpt and paint them)
I don’t know if that’s actually possible, but I have a feeling someone’s gonna manage to make it.

They got millions of wave 1 they have to get rid of first before putting wave 2
It’s the opposite here, we got flooded with Wave 1 but have yet to get anyone outside of that for months now. It’ll probably be like that till those sell

The waist does separate from the body. I have merman’s undies and legs on roboto chest. Gears still work

Roboto was one of the figures i'd wanted to get as a kid and never could find now i went into Walmart today to grab the last trap jaw in stock couldn't find it and ended up with the last Roboto in stock childhood goal complete lol

I'd be inclined to say that this figure is quite reminescent of its vintage version, but those missing gears on the back as well as the heart piece- that's a bit of a bummer, but still a fairly good figure though.
