Disgusting isn't it Hereward, really annoys me. The subject of overfishing is never at the top of any agenda and I find that bizarre. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Sad isn't it mate, makes me wonder where it's all going to end! Thank you, shame about the Conger but it was a nice day out. Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
You're welcome Paul. A fairly quiet session but it was nice to spend a few hours at Black Rock, such a lovely place. Thank you for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Not good is it Ian, doesn't seem to be an end in site, very sad indeed. Thank you, I was gutted when it swam off, like proper gutted but I guess these things happen. Cheers as always, take it easy 👍👍
Gareth the Conger was on the bank so landed, just because you didn't have it for a picture it is on video in your hands and on the bank and we saw how big it was coming along on the surface.
Thank you Jimmy, I was glad that it could be seen on camera, it was a beast. Next time I'll be more prepared, my rag will be next to me! Hope all is good with you, cheers for watching 👍👍
Thanks bud, it was nice to be out fishing again. I had a good grip of that Conger but then it just used its strength and slipped out of my hands, proper chunk it was. Hope all is well, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
That Conger looked like a ripper so am happy to give you that one haha. It was bad luck though. Glad the fishing was the remedy for a hard week at work. From what you have said, a few times, I gather your workplace isn't a very pleasant place to be. Sounds a lot like mine. Once again, another great video. Look after yourself and have a great weekend.
It was a proper chunk David, I really wanted to show that one on camera, cannot believe I didn't have my rag with me! Yes Black Rock is a beautiful place, quiet and not many people about. Just looking at a laptop screen all day and working from home all of the time is not good for wellbeing and it does my nut in, hence why I often crave a bit of fishing you know. Thank you, hope you have a good one too. Cheers 👍👍
I was going over the old Severn bridge last week explaining to my misses that the guy off UA-cam that I watch fishes there. And here you are in the exact place 🤣 that’s mad 👀
Ah thank you Richard. I really wanted to show that one on camera, it was a beast. I'll hopefully land it next time ha! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thanks Ian. When I got it into the gulley I was confident that I'd be able to show it on camera and then it just slipped out of my hands! I guess these things happen ha! Cheers for watching 👍👍
The big Conger treat it like shark fishing. You only have to hold the trace for it to count. Around the Norfolk coast, we are having a good run of Bass & Smoothies this year.
Yes that's it Glyn, I've heard of that before...in that case, we'll count the Conger ha! Ah nice, glad you're getting a good run of fish, long may it continue. Be interesting to see what happens now that we're moving into Autumn. Cheers as always 👍👍
Hi Gareth what a stunning video in my eyes you landed that conger & yes it was a big one but don't beat yourself up about it that's fishing the trawling around our seas is a disgrace that's the reason there not as many fish left for us angler's it looked very tiring were you were fishing but you did a great job & I enjoyed it thanks Gareth.
Thank you Michael, always appreciated. Such a lovely place is Black Rock and it's another old favourite of mine. I was so gutted as I really wanted to show that Conger on camera, it was a right old chunk. I had a good grip of it at one stage but then it just slipped out of my hands, I guess these things happen! It certainly is a disgrace and I cannot believe that it's still allowed to go on, where's it all going to end! Cheers for watching, have a nice weekend 👍👍
Spot on about commercial fishing gareth rod and line anglers can only keep 2 bass but boats throw them back dead great video as usual by the way I don’t keep bass don’t like the taste
Backwards thinking isn't it Andy, it really annoys me and I do wonder how much more of a battering the seas can take. Same here, I find Bass a little bland and so I return them all. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
I'm pleased to hear that you're making a fishing comeback Dave, good stuff. No doubt you'll have many enjoyable sessions! Thank you for watching, tight lines! 👍👍
Thank you Malcolm, pleased you enjoyed the video. Ha yes, that would have been a good title. Gutted that it slipped out of my hands but may be I'll land it next time! Hope all is well, cheers for watching 👍👍
Thank you Dave, appreciated as always. Ah yes the chap I was talking to said the Newport club matches are held there, Lovely spot isn't it, always looks fishy. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Ha yes, let's hope I can be a pioneer of Conger mud wrestling, it could really take off with the backing of a good promotor! Thanks bud, hope all is well...enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Thank you Steve, I appreciate you becoming a channel member. Hopefully the weather will break at some point next week and we'll be able to get out fishing again. Cheers for watching 👍👍
Thank you Nathan, I appreciate it. Ah yes I was gutted, I thought I had a good grip and then it just slipped out of my hands, I'll hopefully have some better luck next time ha! Hope all is well, take it easy 👍👍
Thanks Ian, I'm pleased to hear that. Yes it was a proper one, I'll be more prepared next time, although I guess it can't be helped at times. Enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Cracking video as always Gareth. You definitely get to claim the Conger fella, you had it on the bank with hands on it so a definite catch in my book. Not a mark I’ve ever tried but might try it for cod/Whiting this winter. Thanks for sharing buddy and already looking forward to your next video.
Thank you Richie, I appreciate it. Ah yes I was gutted when it slipped out of my hands, I thought I had it. Why I didn't have my rag with me is a mystery but I guess I'm only human ha! Yes give it a try this Winter, we used to get some lovely Cod during winter, not so many Whiting but the Cod were usually present. Lovely place to fish and lots of grass bank to choose from. Cheers as always, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
You caught it it was close enough. My last fish was a small smooth hound in the boat but my boy found the mark using navionics so it was a team effort. Oh and lovely relaxing music
Thank you John, pleased that you enjoyed the video and music. Nice place is Black Rock, not many people about. Well done on the Smooth-hound, I guess you can thank your boy for that one, good stuff. Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
Hi Gareth, I,ll gladly give you that conger. Hope you dont mind but I couldn’t help a giggle with you on your knees scrabbling to get it, I’m sure most of us been there. Spot on re trawlers 👍 Ps, hope you are over it now, let us all know on next video.
Haha no problem Graham, glad you found that bit entertaining! I was gutted when it slipped out of my hands, it was a proper one and I wanted to show it on camera, I guess there's always next time!I'm almost over it, almost ha! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Ha thank you Paul, very kind of you. I cannot believe it got away, just goes to show how slippery they are! I'll be more prepared next time... hopefully! You too, have a good one 👍👍
Gareth, yet another awesome video, gutted for you but I would count the big conger as a catch as you had it out of the water, we have all had days like that. That's the sport of angling, keepthem coming really appreciate the effort you go to enter nation us. 😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you Ray, pleased you enjoyed the video. I thought I had a good grip of the Conger and then it just slipped out of my hands but as you say, that's the sport of angling and I guess there's always next time. Cheers as always, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Yes very true that Matt! I'll hopefully land it next time ha! A lovely mark and I want to go back there shortly. Cheers for watching, much appreciated 👍👍
@@riversidewithme I enjoy your videos There not TOO much, some videos are hyper, no disrespect to them, but when you get to an age you just want to see someone relaxing and enjoying fishing, if I had the time I would do more, it’s a tonic Keep at it I enjoy it All the best Matt 👍👍👍👌
@@MattThomas-g3g Thank you Matt. Yes I try to focus on the simple things when I'm filming, such as the scenery, the water etc so that the video is as relaxing as possible. Yes me too, if I had the time I'd be out fishing a lot more, it's usually work that gets in the way. Cheers 👍👍
Morning Gareth.....another 'sweatbox' day in Hereford!!! Great video, as always buddy....you're bang on with your comments on these super trawlers, which are basically killing the oceans.....all about greasing the right palms mate....money equals power, unfortunately. Anyways onto more pleasant things....I'd definately give you the big conger, on some comps you only have to touch the leader, granted, it's on shark/tuna & sailfish....I know they don't show up much between the bridges, but Hey!!!!....Ha!!! Job well done in tough conditions & a real good watch....Have a great week ahead & look forward to the next instalment.....Jon.
Yes it's certainly another warm one Jon, hopefully you can get your work done before it's gets too hot. Thank you, it was a nice session in fairness, Black Rock is a lovely place, just nice being there. Ah yes, that Conger was a proper one, I thought I had it but it just slipped out of my hands, next time I will be more prepared ha! Yes it really winds me up, how on earth it's allowed to continue is beyond me and I truly believe that the seas will be empty within 40 years or so if nothing is done about it. Money and power as you say, it's sad. Hope all is well, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
That was the perfect catch and release on the Conga, I can’t stand the things😂, Money certainly does talk and you’re correct the super trawlers have a massive negative impact on our shores.
Haha thank you Dorian, I'm pleased you were impressed with my catch and release method 🤣. Yes indeed, they need to be banned, although I can't see that happening anytime soon, sad times. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thank you mate, appreciated as always. Yes it was a proper chunk that one, would have been great to have shown it on camera but I guess there's always next time. Hope all is well, cheers for watching 👍👍
I've just subscribed found your channel about a week ago. I like your style Gareth. & I did like the way you said "MONEY TALKS " Well said indeed. Corruption runs deep through the worlds governments! Don't stop voicing your opinion ever! Top man
Thanks bud, I appreciate that. Yes you're right there, we certainly do live in a corrupt world and it seems to be getting worse. Hopefully more videos to come soon with a bit of luck. Cheers 👍
Well Gareth just like All of the other comments regarding the big conger, you get my vote. A Good catch! As always I love your content. Great photography and music to go with it and what a nice way to clear the head after a busy week. Thanks once again for sharing Take Care 👍
Thank you Peter. Yes I almost had that Conger but its strength prevailed in the end and it slipped out of my hands, I'll have my rag attached to my trousers next time. Lovely place Black Rock and it never gets too busy either, which is just the way I like it. I'll be back in around 6 weeks or so, should be a few Cod about then. Cheers as always, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Another great video. Absolutely agree about the trawlers. As for the big conger if it is in your hands and slips out or slides off the grass you have caught it, it is just an early release. Seen videos where the battery on the camera has died but they still count the fish so you have much more evidence of catching that conger.
Thank you mate, appreciated as always. When I pulled the Conger into the gulley I thought I'd done it but then it got the better of me and swam through my hands, I was gutted but I guess these things happen. A nice day out though at an old favourite mark of mine, couldn't fault it. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
great video as always listening to how you have spoken about your dad i bet he would have had a right chuckle and a few funny words unlucky bud but its on camera so its a caught one
Thank you mate, I appreciate it. Ha yes, Dad would have been having a good chuckle, no doubt about it! I thought I had it but then it just slipped out of my hands, next time I'll do it differently! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thanks Mark. Yes I was gutted as I really wanted to show that one on camera but I guess these things happen. I'll try and land it next time ha! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Another fantastic video. That's fishing for you. We all noticed all the splashing so we'll definitely give that fish. Again some stunning views. Looking forward to seeing more videos. Best regards to you and the family
Thank you Bob. Lovely place isn't it, such a peaceful part of the world. I was gutted I lost that Conger, hopefully I won't make the same mistake next time! Hope all is good with you, have a nice weekend. Cheers 👍👍
Totally agree Gareth . I think this is the reason we are not seeing the big whiting anymore amongst other species. It's a terrible shame . Yes money talks
Shame isn't it Steve. Yes I really miss the Whiting fishing locally during Autumn and Winter, great times they were. Doesn't seem like anything is going to be done anytime soon and that's a shame. Cheers for watching 👍👍
I came here for the eel wrangling & wasn’t disappointed 😂 great vid mate, dont fancy anyone’s chances of landing a cheesed off double figure eel with their bare hands out of a muddy gully , it was yours feller 💪🏻😎
Thank you mate, always appreciated. Ha yes, there was certainly a good bit of mud wrestling going on there, I had a good grip of it at one stage but it's strength shone through in the end and it just slipped out of my heads. I really wanted to show that one on camera as it was a proper chunk but I guess these things happen! Hope all is good with you, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
When I seen where you was I thought to myself, how many times have a fallen over there ..lol .. either on the wet sea weed on the rocks or in one of those gulley's in the grass. I did have a little chuckle when you went over, its a nightmare there. I class that conger as a caught fish, just a bit premature to let it go :)
Haha yes you're right Ralph, bit tricky underfoot isn't it. I actually fell over many times that day, it was a little difficult to film this one! I was gutted when the Conger got away, it was a proper chunk and I really wanted to show it on camera! Oh well, I guess there's always next time. Cheers as always, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Well done mate we saw it nice fish you touched it so it counts I'm looking at a session on ogmore deeps next week you up for coming plenty of fish there normally
Thank you David. Yes I was annoyed at myself when the Conger slipped out of my hands but I guess these things happen. I'll probably be heading down to the Gower next week but will let you know if that changes. Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Hi Gareth mate another cracking video once again..Brilliant scenery lovely music and i thoroughly enjoyed watching you landing that conger..I think it counts mate I look forward to watching your next video have a lovely weekend mate
Thank you Nathan, appreciated as always. Couldn't believe the Conger got away, I'll be better prepared next time...the rag will be next to me ha! It was an enjoyable day though, Black Rock never gets too busy and there's a huge area to choose from, lovely place. Cheers mate, you too, have a good one 👍👍
Thanks for another great video Gareth! You are so right about the so called ‘super’ trawlers. There’s nothing super about them and it’s a travesty that they are allowed to operate like they do. Pure destruction and makes us all angry 😡 We all saw the size of the conger, so yes we are giving it to you! 😁 I have to say that the footage of you playing that fish, with the scenery and both bridges in shot is pretty special 👏 take care
You're welcome Andy, pleased you enjoyed it. A nice place is Black Rock, another old favourite of mine. Shocking isn't it, as you say it's pure destruction and I cannot believe that it's allowed to continue, when will they learn. Yes I was gutted when the Conger slipped out of my hands, I thought I had it but off it went, one of those things I guess. Hope all is well, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Thank you mate, that's nice of you to say. I'm still learning when it comes to filming but hopefully I'll get there. Cheers for watching, much appreciated 👍👍
Hi Gareth started watching your videos a few days ago. I live in South Devon and searched Fishing the South Devon Coast and your channel popped up you were fishing at Sidmouth for the first time. Since then I've watched several of your videos in and around the Severn, great stuff love the scenery shots. The nearest beaches to me are Bee Sands, Torcross and Slapton Sands. I've just started Radiotherapy for Prostrate Cancer so I have plenty of time to watch your channel so keep them coming. Regards Chris
Hi Chris, thank you for the message. Ah yes, you have some great fishing down your way, I wish I lived closer ha! I fished Bee Sands a few years ago whilst there on holiday and I had some lovely Mackerel on the spinner and some Black Bream on Ragworm, I'm looking forward to giving it another go. Sorry to hear that you have Prostate Cancer, it must be a challenge both mentally and physically. Keep going and no doubt you'll get there. A chap I used to work with had it but he's fine now and is living a normal life. Cheers for watching, much appreciated 👍👍
Brilliant video once again Gareth a joy to watch. Those congers are definitely following you around. Absolutely spot on about these super trawlers and the destruction to the fish stocks and there habitat. Keep the videos coming yours are the ones I look forward to seeing most because you a normal fisherman and so humble.
Thank you Steve, appreciated as always, nice of you to say. It was a nice day out in fairness, I love fishing at Black Rock, there's something magical about the place. Yes disgusting isn't it and the fact that it's still going on is mind boggling, the seas will be empty if nothing is done soon. Cheers for watching, have a good weekend 👍👍
AHHHHH...... looked a lovely conger that one mate. Unlucky. At least you caught though. Yeah trawlers are decimating stocks Gareth. Totally agree 👍 great video and look forward to the next one Gareth. 😊
Thank you Neil. Yes my rag should have been next to me, no idea why it wasn't ha! They certainly are decimating fish stocks and I cannot believe it's still going on, I do wonder where it's all going to end. Hope all is good with you, cheers for watching 👍👍
Top video mate, we wont talk about that conger lol but you defo got that. I had the same kind of session down porthkerry as your last video a couple days after you released it, 3 or 4 baby congers. Unfortunately didn’t get a bass like you though. All the best Gar, look forward to the next one 🎣🎣
Thank you Scott. Ah yes I was so annoyed with myself, sometimes when I'm filming my brain goes to mush and I forget to do things, such as having my rag next to me at all times ha! Glad you managed to get a session in over at Porthkerry, hopefully a few Cod will start to show up off there in a month or so, will be worth a crack. Take it easy mate, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Thank you Christopher, I appreciate it. I almost had the Conger on the bank, just slipped out of my hands, I'll be better prepared next time. A nice day out though, I couldn't really grumble. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Ah nightmare Gary, I bet you were gutted when you drive over it! I reversed into my fishing box once but amazingly nothing was damaged! Cheers for watching 👍👍
Hi Gareth ... enjoyed the video mate. You are absolutely spot on about the devastating damage commercial fishing boats or doing to our fish stocks and their habitats and it’s a absolute disgrace to see the amount of fish dumped back into the sea dead, so called by catch, it really is sickening and definitely not sustainable but the powers that be don’t want to know, shame on them I don’t think they represent anyone other than themselves. Putting that wee rant aside, great video as always Gareth, interesting mark, thanks mate take care 👍🎣🎣
Yes that's right Stephen, absolutely disgusting isn't it. Governments are not interested, they just care about the taxes that commercial fishing generate, what a sick world we live in. The seas are being destroyed on a daily basis and there's no let up, I do wonder where it will all end. Yes Black Rock is a stunning mark and it can be really productive during late Autumn/Winter, I shall look forward to giving it another bash. Cheers mate, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Thanks you Simon, always appreciated. Yes I definitely could have done with some help there, especially as there were little gullies and holes everywhere, I'll be better prepared next time! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Enjoyed your video im one of the blackrock lave net fishermen i grew up fishing that mark you were on locally called the (short rock ) had some good cod and conger there over the years brought back some good memories 👍 you were right in what you were saying natural resource wales have put further restrictions on the fishery and we are no longer aloud to take salmon. That has put a massive strain on the fishing effort and we feel the the restrictions are un just as we only ever take a small amount. It has destroyed a local past time and welsh heritage very sad times. Keep posting your videos and i will be subscribing 👍👍
Thank you Matthew, I appreciate it. Lovely spot isn't it, I'll hopefully give it another crack soon. Yes what a shame that NRW have imposed such draconian restrictions, makes no sense at all as it's a sustainable form of fishing that causes no damage at all. Another piece of local heritage that has suffered as a result of unjust decision-making by the powers that be, unbelievable really. I dread to think how many thousands of Salmon are caught up in industrial sized nets each year out at sea...the real cause of the problem! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Another great video, Gar. You're right with the super trawlers. It seems governments have no appetite to stop that kind of destruction as long as they tick some 'sustainability' box. Incredible really. I'm giving you the big conger by the way. Textbook catch and release in my book! Keep up the good work.
Thank you Matthew, much appreciated. Sickening isn't it, seeing thousands of tons of fish being taken each week, makes me angry. As you say, Governments are not interested, the sustainability box gets ticked and the problem goes away. Ha thank you, I'm pleased that you were impressed with my catch and release skills! Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Thank you Gareth another excellent video ìm hooked on your videos and I agree with you about the trawlers it's surprising what money can do especially if offered to the politicians keep up the good work
Thank you Gareth, nice day out that was, shame about the lost Conger but I guess these things happen. Indeed, greed is the reason the seas are becoming depleted, I hope to see a change in attitude one day. Cheers for watching 👍👍
Likewise Ed, was good to have a chat on the bank. Thank you, it was a chunk of a Conger and I was gutted when it slipped out of my hands, although I'm surprised it didn't snap me off earlier as it was on the flapper rig. Cheers as always, will no doubt see you down there again 👍👍
Great video as usual Gareth. Its so difficult to land a good conger on your own. Ive lost two doubles under the same circumstances. Being fair, we all saw it and it looked like you had actually beached it before losing it. So in my books you beached it and it counts. You are spot on re the super trawlers. They have decimated our fishing around the Kent and Sussex coasts. I think its already too late even if they were to ban it tomorrow. Too late at least for our generation of fisherman. Till the next one.👍👍
Thank you Andy, appreciated as always. Yes that was a chunk of a conger and I really wanted to show it on camera, although as you say it's not easy landing those doubles on your own. I think you're right, the damage has already been done and the worrying thing is that there's no sign of it stopping...money and greed. None of it is sustainable, it's just causing more and more damage. Hope all is well, cheers as always 👍👍
Hi Gareth. I've visited black rock. What a great history. Gutted for the Salmon guys and the crazy rules. Watched your conger in slow mo, that was a decent fish and it's yours mate... Fish on the bank goes in the book. Great filming super enjoyable.
Thank you Ed. Yes it's an interesting place is Black Rock and of course it's just a nice place to be, never gets too busy. Yes I thought I had the Conger when I pulled it into the gulley but then it got the better of me, I'll have my rag close to me next time...I guess we live and learn ha! Hope all is well, cheers for watching 👍👍
Bless you G! You do an amazing job with your videos and I always look forward to watching them. Landing big conger eels on your own is no joke and I was thinking exactly as you said, "an extra pair of hands". Keep on doing what you do as it's appreciated.
Thank you Nick, I appreciate it. Yes that was a chunk of a Conger and it just slipped out of my hands, not easy is it. I'll be going back there in a month or so and it will be interesting to see what turns up then. Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Feel for you with that conger. Talking about these factory ships emptying the beds made me mad, again. Fishing down Port Eynon looking at these ships dragging chains across the bed and the net behind scooping anything that was disturbed. I'm short sighted but without glasses I could read everything on the side of the boat and the vibration was coming through the rocks. Come the morning with the new tide, spider crap which were crushed and many other species dead were washed up on the sand. I phoned the number I found in the directory to report incidents and was told they would have a licence and wasn't interested with the details I took. Between that and hoards of Chinese people removing just about anything that crawled or swam from the low water mark, what chance do we have for fishing in the future.
Sorry to hear that Jeff, although in fairness to yourself, you tried to do your bit by ringing the number. Absolutely disgusting isn't it, makes me really angry and if it carries on at this rate, I think the seas will be close to empty in 50 years time, very sad indeed. We'll continue to fight the fight and hopefully one day we'll see a bit of progress. I think your comment will prove to be popular as a lot of people feel the same. Thank you for watching, have a good weekend 👍👍
Tried the old boat trick up morfa on Sunday, although mines a more of cheap old medium spinning rod had 2 bass 3-4lb each 20 yards out on whole joeys something iv used before but not with much luck.
Well done on the two Bass, can't fault it! Joeys do seem to be a popular Bass bait but like yourself, I've never had much luck on them, I've had more Bass on Mackerel heads. Cheers as always, take it easy 👍👍
Thanks for the video, Gareth. I am wary of the strong tidal flow adj. to the bridge and lots of weed and rubbish gets down river esp. on the stronger tides.
You're welcome Frederick. Yes the tidal flow can be very strong there and so I only fish it on the smaller tides, much more manageable then. Thank you for watching.
nice vid gareth yep thank god for those congers they always save a blank esp in the brstl channel and yes they can be a handilful when they get a bigger size we have all lost a fish and thought we should have done something different . The river up by transporter which i know you have a soft spot for is treaming with good size mullet on the flood but getting em on the hook is another thing maybe a vid on that in the future but you know how much a challenge mullet are esp river/harbour mullet can be . Tight lines m8
Thanks mate, appreciated as always. Yes that Conger was a proper chunk and I thought I had it but as you say, we've all done it! Good to hear there's some Mullet up at the transporter bridge, September does seem to be a good month for them around Newport way. I definitely want to do a Mullet video, I've caught a few at that spot over the years although the strike rate is always very low, crafty things ha! I like to use either bread or small harbour ragworm. Hope all is well, cheers for watching 👍👍
Loved the video Gareth they all just bring back memories fished there and Redwick , Goldcliff, etc .Used to stroll out at low water at Magor and dig the bait and wait till the tide came in (not recommended if you don`t know the river ) I spent many hours sat on the bank watching them build the 2nd Severn bridge, and i seen some fantastic sights in the early morning and late evening light. Thanks.....
Thank you mate, I appreciate it and I'm pleased to hear that the video brought back some good memories for you. Lovely part of the world isn't it, the mud has always appealed to me, it's in the blood I guess, I'd be lost without it. Talking of digging bait, Dad and I used to dig our lugworm down at St Brides next to the B & B, used to be some cracking lug beds but sadly they're not so common now. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thank you mate, always appreciated. At the time I was gutted as I really wanted to show that Conger on camera but I guess these things can't be helped. Take care 👍👍
Top video Gareth, think this was one of my favourite of yours. Brilliant! To catch that conger and lose it close in and to see the frustration was so genuine to see it on your face. We have all been there and can share that same feeling 👍🏻🎣
Thank you Richard, I'm pleased to hear that you enjoyed the video. Lovely place is Black Rock, never gets too busy either. Ha yes I was gutted when it swam through my hands, it was a proper chunk, I'll be better prepared next time, he says! Hope all is well, take care 👍👍
Well done Gareth, I can honestly say that your videos are very entertaining. Whilst watching the conger incident, I couldn’t help but think of the times I had done similar things. It is so hard to stop castigating yourself for hours after. I would count it as landed. Thanks again Gareth 👍
Thank you Paul. Ha yes, we've all been there at some point. Was so frustrating as it was in my hands, I'll be better prepared next time. I only seem to be catching Congers at the moment but I guess we can only catch what's in front of us and I don't mind them. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
I'll agree with that David, thank you 🤣. I really wanted to show that one on camera as it was a proper one but it clearly wasn't meant to be ha! Nice day out though, it was all good. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Great video Gareth I went to black rock today after watching this but was in wrong spot was right in front of the picnic site car park later 2 guys went to the left on the bit that sticks out which I think is where you were will try next time had one bite but sadly no fish but will definitely go back thanks to watching this video😊👍
Thank you Adrian, lovely place isn't it. Yes the area right in front of the carpark seems to be more snaggy, whereas the ground where I was in the video is much cleaner. Definitely worth another visit, it can be great for the Cod from mid October onwards, some nice Base can also turn up. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thank you David. Ah yes, a bit less mud is always appealing ha! Always nice to try a new spot, hopefully you'll catch a fish or two there. I like Black Rock, will give it another go before the year is out. Cheers as always 👍👍
Honestly mate you really do make stunning videos, they are beautifully thought out, the scenic stuff, the actual fishing and of course your though provoking, heart felt commentaries. Honestly do keep up the fantastic work! We are down in Wales for 10 days as of the end of next week, we are in the camper doing the pembrokeshire coast, I'll be taking the rods obviously! 👍👌❤️
Ah thank you mate, I appreciate that, nice of you to say. Lovely spot is Black Rock, just a nice place to be. Shame I couldn't show the Conger, I was gutted about that but I guess there's always next time! I'm sure you'll have a great time down in Pembrokeshire and no doubt you'll catch a few fish! Cheers as always, take it easy 👍👍
@@riversidewithme I absolutely agree with @maraudingmetalheadstv. Your video and photography skills are on another level, the editing is spot on! Gareth, maybe one day you might think of putting up a 20-minute compilation video of all your scenic/nature shots, accompanied by music? In this modern-day life, full of stress, watching such a video would be an excellent way to wind down.
@niuniu778 Thank you my friend, that's nice of you to say. I need to get a new camera soon as the one I have struggles a little in low light. I'm still learning when it comes to filming but hopefully I'll get there. Thank you for the suggestion, it's a great idea and is something I've been thinking about doing, stress buster videos. Hope all is well, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Thank you Christopher, always appreciated. Yes definitely, the fish are not in the numbers that they once were. Hopefully a few Cod will turn up shortly, and some Whiting too, that would be nice. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Ohhh maaaate... devastating! Yup we saw it, aw man I feel for you! Yup, the last 3 congers I've pulled from the channel for on 2/0 and the barbs just aren't big enough. Finally I landed my first since the other weekend but I know that feeling. I think we all do. Still, hey, awesome video!! Thank you
Thank you mate, nice to hear from you again. Yes I was gutted, I really wanted to show that one on camera as it was a right old chunk, I'll hopefully be more successful next time ha! As you say, the barbs on the smaller hooks are just not adequate for the bigger fish. Well done on landing one last week, hopefully more to come this Autumn. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Yet again great video , I do agree with your statement regarding the trawlers it’s a disgrace, had to have a little chuckle to myself I have lost a couple of good size bass doing the same as you did 😂😢.keep up the great work mate 👍🎣Garry
Thank you Garry, much appreciated. Ha yes, we've all been there haven't we. I couldn't believe my rag wasn't next to me, just one of those things I guess. I'd like to think that commercial overfishing will eventually be severely restricted but I can't see anything happening for the time being, very sad. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Great video again mate you always seem to have trouble with they eels haha still counts as a catch even if we didn’t see it looking forward to the next one
Thanks mate, much appreciated. Ha yes I have lost a few of late, need to sort it out! It was a nice day out at a lovely mark, couldn't really grumble. Hope all is good with you, cheers for watching 👍👍
Excellent video, both gutted for you losing that conger, think we've all been there though, maybe a landing net might help? We got one for that reason. Keep up the fab fishing 🎣
Thank you Tracey, appreciated as always. Yes I was gutted when it swam off, I really wanted to show that one on camera, couldn't believe I didn't take my rag down the bank with me. Yes a landing net is a good idea, it's something I've been thinking about, a large one. Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
The gentleman who runs the Black Rock Lathe Net site posted a number of videos last year showing large numbers of dead salmon on the Wye and Usk due to low water and pollution. It is a crime but apparently with no criminals.
Ah yes I remember seeing some of the videos, very sad to say the least and of course the same happened this year. A crime without criminals...funny old world isn't it, where will it all end. Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Ha yes, the water at Black Rock on the Isle of Wight is a little less muddy! Thank you Jason, it was a nice day out in fairness, shame I couldn't show the Conger but I guess it couldn't be helped. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Haha, I also found it quite funny when I watched the footage back, a proper battle that was! Next time I will make sure I have my towel next to me, will get a better grip then. A nice day out though, couldn't fault it. Thank you as always Patricia, take care 👍👍
absolutely bang on with super trawlers dude bang bloody on
Disgusting isn't it Hereward, really annoys me. The subject of overfishing is never at the top of any agenda and I find that bizarre. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Totally agree money talks but no respect for traditional fishing methods. Another great video keep up the good work
Sad isn't it mate, makes me wonder where it's all going to end! Thank you, shame about the Conger but it was a nice day out. Cheers for watching, take it easy 👍👍
Thank you Gar, I always look forward to seeing your films pop up.
You're welcome Paul. A fairly quiet session but it was nice to spend a few hours at Black Rock, such a lovely place. Thank you for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Well said mate about the trawlers 👍 that cogner is
yours tight lines 🎣🐟
Not good is it Ian, doesn't seem to be an end in site, very sad indeed. Thank you, I was gutted when it swam off, like proper gutted but I guess these things happen. Cheers as always, take it easy 👍👍
Gareth the Conger was on the bank so landed, just because you didn't have it for a picture it is on video in your hands and on the bank and we saw how big it was coming along on the surface.
Thank you Jimmy, I was glad that it could be seen on camera, it was a beast. Next time I'll be more prepared, my rag will be next to me! Hope all is good with you, cheers for watching 👍👍
too right well said - we saw that conger
Thanks bud. Yes the commercial overfishing is totally unacceptable, something needs to be done and quick. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
It's on camera, cracking eel.
Thanks William. Yes it was a right old chunk, hopefully I won't make the same mistake next time! Cheers for watching 👍👍
Great to see you back m8 missed my dose of riverside 👌you made physical contact with that eel so I'm gona give it a thumbs up 👍 🤣
Thanks bud, it was nice to be out fishing again.
Cheers 👍👍
Nice video again mate
Thank you Gary. Hope all is well mate, cheers for the continued support 👍👍
I was going over the old Severn bridge last week explaining to my misses that the guy off UA-cam that I watch fishes there. And here you are in the exact place 🤣 that’s mad 👀
Haha that is mad Lynden, talk about good timing 🤣. Hope all is well, cheers for watching 👍👍
Ill😢give the conger to you all the best Gareth keep them coming
Haha thanks Paul. I was gutted I couldn't show it on camera, may be I'll get it next time! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Well done Gareth, I’ll give you the conger you deserve it.
Ah thank you Richard. I really wanted to show that one on camera, it was a beast. I'll hopefully land it next time ha! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
You held the leader. You caught the fish, Gareth!
Thanks Ian. When I got it into the gulley I was confident that I'd be able to show it on camera and then it just slipped out of my hands! I guess these things happen ha! Cheers for watching 👍👍
Absolutely bang on about the Super Trawlers, Gareth. Well said. It's a disgrace.
Thank you mate. Yes it's disgusting and I can't see anything changing anytime soon, that's the worrying thing. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Great watch Gareth. Always a pleasure thank you
You're welcome Norman, glad you enjoyed the video. It was a nice day out, couldn't fault it. Thank you for watching, take care 👍👍
Another great video thanks Gareth
Thank you Neil, pleased you enjoyed it. Bit dark early on but thankfully it brightened up. Enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Keep em coming Gareth 👍
Thanks Kev, hopefully more to come soon. Cheers as always, take care 👍👍
Just found your vlog and subscribed have not fished for years but watching your vlog first stop today is tackle shop thanks
I'm pleased to hear that you're making a fishing comeback Dave, good stuff. No doubt you'll have many enjoyable sessions! Thank you for watching, tight lines! 👍👍
Should have called the video.... the lost conger! But it hit the shore so I reckon you can claim that one! Great video as usual 👍
Thank you Malcolm, pleased you enjoyed the video. Ha yes, that would have been a good title. Gutted that it slipped out of my hands but may be I'll land it next time! Hope all is well, cheers for watching 👍👍
Brilliant video our newprt club have matches there and yes we get the odd thornie there and bass
Thank you Dave, appreciated as always. Ah yes the chap I was talking to said the Newport club matches are held there, Lovely spot isn't it, always looks fishy. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Love the Passion gar another cracking video once again buddy
Thank you Kevin, I appreciate it. Lovely place is Black Rock, just nice spending a few hours there. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
A new sport there Gareth! Conger mud wrestling! 😂
Gutted for you mate! I will give you it.👍
Ha yes, let's hope I can be a pioneer of Conger mud wrestling, it could really take off with the backing of a good promotor! Thanks bud, hope all is well...enjoy the weekend 👍👍
Guys try to support this guy it doesn't cost a fortune. It's very enjoyable to watch so consider thinking about it
Thank you Steve, I appreciate you becoming a channel member. Hopefully the weather will break at some point next week and we'll be able to get out fishing again. Cheers for watching 👍👍
Great video Gareth, the way you dived on the gonga I watched it back about 5 time fair play mate 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you Nathan, I appreciate it. Ah yes I was gutted, I thought I had a good grip and then it just slipped out of my hands, I'll hopefully have some better luck next time ha! Hope all is well, take it easy 👍👍
You definitely caught that chunky Conger Gareth. 🎣
Always a pleasure Gareth another great video mate 👍 👏 👌
Thank you Leighton. It was a nice day out in fairness, shame about the big Conger but there's always next time! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Brilliant vid as always,
Thank you John. It was a nice day out in fairness, lovely place is Black Rock. Hope all is well, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
@riversidewithme thanks Gareth, shame about that conger, I'll give it to you , was landed 😆
@johnmorris2346 Thanks mate. I was gutted when it swam away, I'll be better prepared next time 👍👍
Hi Gareth, I,ll gladly give you that conger. Hope you dont mind but I couldn’t help a giggle with you on your knees scrabbling to get it, I’m sure most of us been there. Spot on re trawlers 👍
Ps, hope you are over it now, let us all know on next video.
Haha no problem Graham, glad you found that bit entertaining! I was gutted when it slipped out of my hands, it was a proper one and I wanted to show it on camera, I guess there's always next time!I'm almost over it, almost ha! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thank you for the fishing 🎣 video 🎣 I will let you have that one because in was on the bank mate 😂have a good weekend mate 👍
Easy 14lb well done my son !!!
Yes I think it was Mark, it was long and chunky, very strong. Next time I will be more prepared! Thank you 👍👍
A man who never made a mistake is either a liar or he never did anything
Great video
Thanks Matt
Yes very true that Matt! I'll hopefully land it next time ha! A lovely mark and I want to go back there shortly. Cheers for watching, much appreciated 👍👍
@@riversidewithme I enjoy your videos
There not TOO much, some videos are hyper, no disrespect to them, but when you get to an age you just want to see someone relaxing and enjoying fishing, if I had the time I would do more, it’s a tonic
Keep at it
I enjoy it
All the best Matt 👍👍👍👌
Another great video,I would of claimed that conga, nice fish you landed it in my opinion
Thank you Andrew. That was a proper one and I thought I had it. I'll try and do better next time ha! Cheers as always, take it easy 👍👍
Nice one Gareth mate, I’d say you banked that congar bud, it counted for sure , looked a beast , glad your alright appreciate your efforts 🎣👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks once again for sharing
Take Care 👍
Decent conger👍🏼we all know that feeling when you have it on the bank and it gets away, you had it in your hands so it counts🎣👍🏼
Crackin video Gareth ,unlucky on the big conga I'd give you that one 😂😂
Thank you Martin, appreciated as always. Pleased that you've given me that one, feel a little better now 😂. Enjoy the weekend 👍👍
@@riversidewithmehi Gareth fished pendine flounder open today had joint second good days fishing had 4 flounder 😂
@martinwilson3707 Nice one Martin, good result! I love catching Flounder, one of my favourite species. Well done 👍
@@riversidewithme my first fishing with dad on the flounder grate laughs
Gutted for you on losing that conger.
Thanks Lee, I was annoyed with myself, my rag should have been next to me. Hopefully I'll land it next time ha! Cheers for watching 👍👍
What a brilliant video ! Your filmmaking skills are top notch Gareth . Really enjoyed . Tight lines
Regards
Chris
I have watched a few of your videos and it is nice to see a normal angler enjoying going fishing keep it up and i will keep watching tight lines
Thank you John, I appreciate that. Hopefully more to come soon with a bit of luck! Cheers for watching 👍
Hey Gareth cracking video as usual I will give you that conger. Keep up the good work and on to the next video, can't wait
Thank you Christopher, I appreciate it. I almost had the Conger on the bank, just slipped out of my hands, I'll be better prepared next time. A nice day out though, I couldn't really grumble. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Don't beat yourself up mate. At least you didn't drive over your rod holdal, like i did last weekend.
Mate I fish the river Dee and the pot bait fisherman have destroyed the flounder fishing
HI Gareth m8 yes i would give that Conger as you said a spare pair of hands would of done nicely again great vid to watch all the best m8 Simon
Thanks you Simon, always appreciated. Yes I definitely could have done with some help there, especially as there were little gullies and holes everywhere, I'll be better prepared next time! Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Thanks for a great video. On the bank in the bag. Either way a brilliant fish. Well done.
Thank you Matt, I appreciate it. Lovely place isn't it, I'm looking forward to giving it another go soon.
Cheers for watching, enjoy the weekend 👍👍
what a fantatic vid mate loved it very well done
Thank you Laurance, appreciated as always. Lovely place isn't it, just nice being there. Hope all is well, take care 👍👍
Was good to meet you down there, great video as always. Conger definitely counts, was out the water and in youre hands.
The big conger was yours mate. Another great watch pall .😃
Thank you Wayne, that's good to hear! I'm just about over it now although it took me a couple of days ha! Hope all is good with you, take it easy 👍👍
nice vid gareth yep thank god for those congers they always save a blank esp in the brstl channel and yes they can be a handilful when they get a bigger size we have all lost a fish and thought we should have done something different .
Nice vid gareth dount beat ur self up over the conger great vid as always
Thank you mate, always appreciated. At the time I was gutted as I really wanted to show that Conger on camera but I guess these things can't be helped. Take care 👍👍
And yeah I’ll give you the conga I saw it 🤣
Ha thanks Lynden, very kind of you 😂👍
😁"I've ripped my trousers!"🤣
Yes, no saving those unfortunately, well and truly ripped 🤣. Cheers as always Jason, take it easy 👍👍
If your hand touches the leader it counts😂😅👌🏻
Another great but honest video, please keep them coming!
Best wishes for next time 👍🏴
I'll agree with that David, thank you 🤣.
Great video haven't fished the channel for a few years but found your film encouraging
Thank you Colin, I appreciate it. Hopefully a few Cod will start to show up during the next month or so. Cheers for watching 👍👍
Great video Gareth. I found a nice spot out that way while dog walking a few week ago that I must try soon. A bit less mud was well!
Oh and you definitely caught that conger, it was in your hands 👌👍
Great video as usual Gareth. Just seems to be less fish out there. Look forward for the next video.
Good place but local knowledge is key to staying safe
Yes that's it, you can't beat local knowledge, the Severn Estuary can be challenging at times.
I thought you were fishing Black Rock (Isle of Wight ) at first. Looks a little different though. Another great vid Gareth keep em coming mate👍
Ha yes, the water at Black Rock on the Isle of Wight is a little less muddy! Thank you Jason, it was a nice day out in fairness, shame I couldn't show the Conger but I guess it couldn't be helped. Cheers for watching, take care 👍👍
Sorry Gareth, but had to laugh at that wrestling match with conger😂 I seen it😉reckon it was 12 pound 😜great video again Gareth, loved it! 🤗
Haha, I also found it quite funny when I watched the footage back, a proper battle that was! Next time I will make sure I have my towel next to me, will get a better grip then. A nice day out though, couldn't fault it. Thank you as always Patricia, take care 👍👍
