They've been doing audiophile decks for decades, the origianl SP10 (Mk1 circa 1969), then the legendary SP10- MKll (circa 1975 -81), comes with separate/off board power supply, was used by the BBC and many broadcast stations, a lovely genuine audiophile turntable. I have mine in a Panzerholt plinth, with Technics EPA A250 tonearm, and its matching EPA B500 tonearm base - on the fly vta adjust (more precise than that found on the SL1200/1210's). It is a gem of a deck, which i use with an Ortofon Cadenza Black moving coil cartridge, retipped with a Fritz Gyger S stylus profile (same as Ortofons Replicant profile). There's also the rare and expensive SP10-MKlll (circa1981-88). And currently the SL1000R which is effectively today's current SP10 - all these are genuine audiophile turntables, which you wont find used for club use, but owned by decerning audiophiles/ critical listening music /system lovers.
Great Video. This guy is Mr Technics and I'm sure you are impressed Michael. For the audiophile on a real world budget ...like me I enjoy some original SL1200mk2s and Sp10 mk2 and an SL120 with SME 30009 and a little SL7. The new models are great. Only I wish they kept the orange cue light. Reasonably priced considering the rising costs of everything today.
I love your videos Mr. Farmer! IMHO, Technics had to renew themselves after they left japan for Malaysia and the customers started to turn up their noses and claim that Malaysian products are not the same as Japanese products and that's exactly why they invented the Delta Sigma Drive. The technology is excellent - but not necessary... the old turntables made in Japan were just perfect and the latest models that was made in Japan were equally amazing... but still even if the factory in Malaysia is Panasonic are just amazing brand.
This is good news, although I would have preferred a sort of SL1200G, without variable pitch, strobe light, etc., in short, without DJ elements, with the technology developed recently. In other words, an improved 1200G, for audiophiles. We look forward to your review Mike!
As always good review Michael. However, what TT do you think is better going to the best sound experience (I know this is subjective) the 1200G or the new one 1300G? Are both upgradeable? I mean to better tone arm. Thanks for sharing your feelings.

@@stillaliveandwell5291 Thanks you. I saw it, and Fernando did a great job. He / SkyFi did a rather thorough job with the comparison then played it through those beautiful Jadis speakers. Thanks again!
You tested the 1200G. Is there a video on how you set up the cartridge alignment? I am using the Dr. Feickert protractor and the Loefgren but I would like to see a video of the procedure. If I am not mistaken, in your article of the 1200G, you mentioned that using this alignment the cartridge was not perfectly parallel to the headshell. But with the Dr. Feickert protractor I am getting a parallel result in all my cartridges.
I have the 1210GAE. I love that the strobe light shuts off after a few seconds and have yet to use the pitch adjustment. This table looks like a great compromise.
A very interesting video, but spoilt by the distractions caused by the poor sound quality . I would like to see Technics produce a turntable that it could be used with other tonearms though.
If my math is correct Michael, $10K buys all 3 turntables and the review can commence! 😊Seems natural for them to incorporate the motor developments into the 1200G next. I'll wait. The Dr. F Volare with The Wand Plus Tonearm you reviewed (upgraded Nordost wire) and Audio Technica ART-20 cartridge gives me patience.
Your thoughts on The New Beatles Analog Reissues?? You haven't been around much, I hope You were involved somehow with these upcoming releases. God Bless Mr. Fremer!!!
Great video as always! But when I see people place a turntable in-between speakers that are sitting on the same surface immediately next to it, I have to shake my head! At such a close proximity to the source of the sound that the turntable and speakers are both playing, even if the speakers don't transfer any cabinet vibration to the turntable to cause obvious feedback and tracking problems, there will most certainly be a smearing of coherence and fine details that's introduced by the airborne sound pressure as it hits the tonearm and platter. I have heard this smearing effect first hand which ultimately led to my placing my turntable outside of the listening room.
Hi, the SC-CX700 speakers look fantastic, but will they sound perfect and be a good choice to connect them to the SL-1300G (or the SL-1200GR2) turntable, or I'd be better off using an Amp say the SU-G700M2 and speakers with no built in preamp? Please advice. Thank you.
What no demo of sound, as much as I wasn’t expecting much I watched to the end thinking there was eventually a sound demo coming. I guess it was pretty bad. 🤔
It was very good actually but how was I supposed to direct-record it there? No way. When I get hopefully all three home I will make recordings for you to hear.

Hi Michael, I would be very interested in your opinion on interconnects for someone looking to spend under $300.00 per cable for phone rca, streaming rca, and pre-amp to tube amp connection. Lastly speaker cables. Is $1200.00 on cables a waste of money?
PS. I’m truly intrigued by the 1300G. I have an upgrade/restored AR/XA belt drive. But I think there is something about a turntable that does everything in its power to keep the speed consistent.
It would be nice if you could purchase this sans arm and add the arm of your choice.Looks great without all the unnecessary DJ stuff cluttering things up.Very nice.
Funny. Bill from Technics was at a loss when he was asked to describe the differences in sound between the 1200G and 1300G, even though he had heard both in comparison. He just said that each SL-Technics had its own sound. That's a bit embarrassing.
Given the 1300 and 1300mk2 were automatic, this should be a 1500 of some variation since it's manual. The 1300mk2 got the quartz direct direct before the 1200mk2.
