My mind is dark and desolate wasteland, devoid of any hope or inspiration.
I'm trapped in a never-ending storm, tossed and turned by the winds of despair.
The sun rises and sets, day after day, but i feel stuck in an endless cycle of monotony.
My heart is a shattered mirror, reflecting back only fragments of a broken and fragmented reality, and the rain is a symbol of the tears that i cannot cry.
My soul is a garden of wilted flowers, and the rain is a symbol of the sorrow that drowns them.
The shattered pieces of our heats may seem irreparable, but like a mosaic, they can be pieced together into something beautiful and whole again.
Through our wings may be broken, we can learn to fly again, soaring higher than we ever thought possible.

She wandered in and out of her den wondering why she was so incompetent with this one patient. She stood at her bookcase, raising her hand as if to thumb through one or two texts but thought better of it and just sighed, dropping her hand to her side and slumping into a nearby chair. The patient in question was a male, in his 20’s, smart, capable, and determined. But his psychosis haunted her. Medication had been tried by prior practitioners many times but he only stabilized once he had been off of all of it for 6 months. What if she tried entering his world, just for a few sessions. That was her original thinking. Her life had never been dreary, never dark. But now, as if she were an understudy for a theatrical play, she had entered another’s world and was only able to see bleakness and hopelessness. “Is this psychosis?” she mused. “It can’t be this, this is depression and angst.” She could stand back and observe her thoughts and know she wasn’t this frame of mind but she didn’t want to leave it. She had to understand it, tread through it, and come out the other side. It was the only way she could help him, the only way anyone might be able to reach him. On this rainy night she had set the mood, haunting, lilting music, dim lighting, a little chill in the room, and of course a day that would not stop raining, in fact rain was predicted for a week. “Ah”, she thought, “I will just settle into this chair and let these hopeless thoughts overcome me. I will not move or wander away, I will simply see what I can see here and become it, not fear it but be it.” She felt a twinge of regret as she began to blank out, drifting away from the room, the rain, and even the feelings of dread. But bravely she entered in as if she could hang onto both worlds, as if there was no getting lost, as if in a moment she could snap her fingers and return. She heard the notes and the thunder one last time and then she was gone.
