Swapping Paint for Stain with an artistic twist | Furniture Makeover

  • Todays furniture transformation is of one of the very first pieces I painted with bold colors. My original plan was an ombré technique but in reality it looks like color blocking. This furniture makeover did not go as planned. My plan for this dresser is to turn it into a classic beauty with an artistic twist.

    So should I feel bad that I thought the original dresser was cute?

      Haha, no not at all! I’m going to do a video on how to paint using an ombré technique, the right way. The difference is so big. It’s a cute dresser, just a flop on what I was actually trying to accomplish.

    Good work! Don’t beat yourself up over the first piece you did! We all want to hide from our first pieces! It’s all a process!

    I was subscribed to your channel for 3 years or more, but haven't seen any of your videos for so long. I took a look and it showed that I was removed as a subscriber, and in most cases it is by UA-cam, because many other youtubers have been saying the same. This upsets me because I subscribe because it a choice I make and UA-cam takes my choice away by unsubscribing me without any notification to me or channel owner. Glad i noticed it, because you are one of the channels that started me on the journey of Furniture love & DIY, so you are my first like this dresser was your first

    I love that transfer. I used it on my favorite piece to date. I loved the colors you had done that dresser in, and also the color you chose to stain it in. ❤

    ::: the blue was not bad for a beginner but if I was doing a redo, I would imagine it with same color balayage'd and a larger transfer. This redo was also very good, especially the midnight garden transfer 👍

    I so needed to see this video as i have just painted my beautiful vintage bedside cabinet and it looks bad not what i was hoping for.. i saw so meny tutorials before i started 😢 brought all paints from dixie belle wax the lot.

      Yep, I feel like that’s how it begins, but the more you do it and the more you get the feel of the paint, the better your results will be. Hang in there! Also, with chalk paint, you can always sand it down smooth and paint right over it again.

    I preferred the "tacky" version. The colour at the end made it look old and dated. Reminds me of the "Mission Brown" everyone used on houses back in the 80's

    I think it turned out beautiful. But I have one question: why didn't you fill in the flowers on the chest prior to you placing the decal... then the flowers in your design and the flowers on the chest wouldn't of been competing with each other.... just a thought

    • @FlipItFurniture
      @FlipItFurniture  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks😊
      I was thinking if I filled it in, it would still stick out since I stained it. I probably would have filled it in if I were painting it though
