When my cousin was engaged, she bought old furniture to refinish. I helped her strip layers of old paint from a dresser that had a curved front similar to yours. When we got it stripped down, we found it was mahogany wood & had been stored in a warehouse in Savannah, GA in 1904.
I’m 75 and have painted lots of furniture when younger. When I saw that lavender shimmer with glass I was sure glad it wasn’t me redoing this piece of furniture. You did an awesome job. It is beautiful and classy. Soon as my new studio is completed I’m getting back to painting furniture after a long illness. I’m excited after watching you bring the dresser back to life. But I definitely won’t be tackling a piece like your ugly duckling. Thanks for your inspiration.!💕😃👍
Man I sympathized with ALL the prep, trial and error. You did an exemplary job. You really showed GREAT strength and honored your commitment so beautifully. You are a warrior. Thank you for your work ! Lots of Love, Amanda
When you are removing the old finish on the sides, wouldn't it be easier to tip the furniture over? Less stress on your back and arms. I figured out the blocks on the drawers. Maybe it was to prevent pinched fingers.
Amy you are such a pro! Your ugly duckling was definitely the ugliest of all the ducklings to begin with and i was so worried that glass wouldnt come off. You are so talented and highly skilled. Look at how amazing it turned out. I love everything about it. Thank you so much for joining in on the challenge. Its a stunner!
This is probably the most transformed transformation ever. I applaud your perseverance. I don't know how anyone could sell (maybe give away, but not sell) a dresser in such awful condition. Again, good for you to see the vision through to its beautiful conclusion.
Oh gosh! I was feeling stressed out just watching you clean this dresser up. I would have thrown it out to the curb. But you stuck with it. You truly are a furniture artist! Your awesome 😎 thanks for sharing - including the difficult ones. Shows us not to give up. 😅
The way this dresser started off to what it looks like now is a night and day difference! Really good job and for me, the transfers are the star! Nice color choices along with the transfers! 💜
Shows what patience can do! It’s beautiful! It’s also interesting how paint can turn out looking different after it’s dried. The flowers are such a beautiful addition to the painted piece. The top does look like butter, so smooth!
You are the first one to call out liars and I thank you! I can't tell you how many times i have got scammed by someone telling me , " just like new" and " just needs a tiny bit of love " ! Then you have lost your money and have a piece of crap disguised as a treasure ! Thanks for letting me know im NOT the only one out there that trust people when they shouldn't.
Thank you for the amazing rescue. A stunning piece of furniture given the class it deserves! Goes to show it isnt as easy as it first appears, you have talent!!
I feel your blood, sweat and tears in those weeks of work. Worth every bit. Came out strong and clear beauty. Thank you for not flossing over the hard work and decisions.
Never in my life- the glass. Omg, the glass. Girl, I don’t know how you didn’t Hulk out on this piece! Let me start off by saying, this piece is absolutely stunning now! But, your perseverance should win you this on it’s own. I kinda felt watching you do this, that it really got to the essence, imo, of what it often takes to really pull of these transformations. In my experience, there’s more times then not when a piece throws you a curve a ball (although this takes the cake😂) and trying different things without giving up is everything. How you brainstormed on getting that glass off was awesome. Great work!!
OMG....it was truely an ugly duckling. I cannot imagine anyone even trying to sell it. That transfer made a huge difference. The entire dresser came out wonderful.
Oh wooow... The title of this video should be "My own ODYSSEY" 🤯 And before has nothing to do with the after 😍 It took a lot of time but you made it look awesome! Well done! It's a winner to me 😊
The only reasons I can think that the drawers don't close is either they made a plant stand out of the dresser, drawers and all... or they used it as a cattery, a place for cats to climb on and sleep in. 😸
You nailed it! My neighbor does glass mosaics and used the broken glass in a lot of pieces she makes. She said that is is an Apoxy Resin Pour that is poured over top of the glass which is why it is so hard to get it off.
Apoxy wouldn't of came off like this I think they tried to do what ur friend says but didn't apoxy over it leaving it all sharp n not smooth like it should be.
I had a dresser similar to that and the finish was antiqued. It was yellowish, Off white, and gold trim on the drawers. I stripped it to say it's was a nightmare . Good job! Looks good.
The construction adaptions, the colors, and style of dresser make me think it was modified for a disabled child who wouks slam drawers, get thier fingers caught, or had trouble opening the drawers. You did a beautiful job and saved it from the landfill.
Never would I have thought that dark green and dark brown would work but WOW. It's beautiful. I hope you get compensated for that enormous amount of prep work. I've learned so much from your channel. Thx.
I know you had very hard time. Your patience has redone this dress very elegant. I ❤it. Wood design glued on excellent touch and the flowers 🌹. Good luck with the Dresser
You took something that most would’ve been like “NOPE” and made it so gorgeous. I reminds me of a very old oil painting of flowers 😍😍 in the best way possible . The pulls are perfect and the green you chose is such a nice deep rich green. This piece could go with a few styles , dark academia, Victorian, eclectic and a few others. Just a beautiful piece ❤👏🏻👏🏻
Can't imagine what is on those embellishments. Great idea to remove them and start over with Wood U Bend. The glitter looked like it was in glue. Turned out beautiful

You did a great job even I prefer this dresser with less flowers.. ❤
❤❤❤
👍Vicki best wishes to you as you get back to working on furniture.

Maybe the blocks to keep the drawers from closing all the way was to keep the little princess from smashing fingers?
I thought exactly the same thing!
..but decided crushed glass was ok was for the lil gal!😂
And the glass was put there to make little princess cut her fingers?
I thought the same thing. They wanted to prevent a little one from hurting him/herself.
The glass was covered with glue. Probably didn't cut.

Wow!!! Fantastic ❤
We're liveaboards and sometimes crack drawers to allow warm air in to prevent mold and mildew 🤷🏼♀️
Wonder choice of colors and application's! Looks very foresty!
Oh my!!!! How beautiful you made this ❤

Amy, you're such an amazingly gifted artist!! You are what I aspire to be!
in two words : Beautifully done. The dark green at first made me cringe, but it all worked out with the addition of the transfers.
I had a dresser similar to that and the finish was antiqued. It was yellowish, Off white, and gold trim on the drawers. I stripped it to say it's was a nightmare . Good job! Looks good.
It's definitely a piece that can win this challenge! Amazing transformation! Good luck! Thanks so much for sharing

Love the colors you chose for this. The florals were a perfect addition.

Another tasteful, elegant and labor intensive ugly duckling to a swan with sparkle and shine save. Informative and 😋 😊❤
Thank you ☺️
I wonder if Goo Gone would have helped with removing the glue. That's what I would have tried.
I love that shade of green. It's a statement piece!!
Beautiful job!

You did it wonderfully! From an ugly duckling to a ✨Royal Swan✨👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you!
The glitter was in glue🤦♀️ it was a mess
So gorgeous! I really want to try those transfers. Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford them. 😊
Holy cow, the final result looks like a million bucks!!! Can't believe the transformation!!
