Hola. Enjoyed watching the video on a Sunday night. This is actually a holiday weekend in the USA, as tomorrow is Columbus Day. (in 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue 😉) This is peak foliage season here and the trees look beautiful, but the summer is now long gone. 😐 So, it's nice to see the warm, sunny beaches of Carboneras to remind me that there's summer weather somewhere! This is such a nice beach town, and it's interesting how it evolved from coal to fishing to tourism over the many years. I actually didn't know that carbon meant coal in Spanish, although it makes perfect sense. There's a Carbon Canyon in the coastal area north of Los Angeles, so now I think I know how that was named. Must be coal up in those Malibu hills! 😁 I also didn't know that Andres was Spanish for Andrew! Go figure. 😆 You think I would have learned that over the years. I knew right away before I even saw the sign which building was the ayuntamiento, and then I saw the sign.😊 The Parque Andaluz is beautiful, and the open-air auditorium with the colorful decor above (lights too?) was great. Must be a real treat to listen to music there. I really LOVED the palm grove! Palm trees are very symbolic of southern California and totally foreign to this part of the USA, so they really make an impression. I know I say it often, 😁 but there is a small palm grove in a park in SB right along the promenade by the beach there, so it has a familiar look to it. The beaches are so big and wide! I think most beaches around here tend to be narrower, and frequently have sand dunes in back rather than being flat and spacious. The promenade is beautiful, and you definitely won't have a problem finding a cafe to eat there. 😄 At 20:00, I thought the soccer ball might bounce all the way over to you, and maybe we'd get to see if you can kick! 😆At 21:10, it was nice to see the old folks out enjoying the view. Enjoyed the video as always. Hope you have a great week.
Hola! Nice to read you again! It's curious because here we celebrate our national holiday (also called Dia de la Hispanidad) on October 12, in commemoration of the discovery of America... So we have something else in common. I hope you had a nice Columbus Day. We are starting to feel a bit of the arrival of autumn here (it's about time! 😄), in fact as I write this message it is raining at times. Although generally weather is still pleasant and many people are still enjoying the beach. I was really surprised by the industrial past of this town, visiting it you wouldn't suspect that in the past it was an important center of the coal industry. I regret that nothing of it remains, although I also regret that due to this industry the forests in the area were destroyed, the surroundings are an authentic desert landscape, I'm not surprised that part of the film Lawrence of Arabia was filmed there. Curious thing about the name San Andrés in the United States is that you use a variant of that name in Spanish to call the San Andreas fault (the pronunciation is almost the same), instead of using the name in Spanish or in English. 😄 You are becoming a real expert in Spanish urbanism. You are right, this town hall is easy to find, it is where it is supposed to be, in the main square. The strange thing is that the main church of Carboneras was not in that square either... In fact, in the short time I was in the town, I did not see any church!! What a strange town! 😆 I understand you perfectly about the palm trees, in the interior of Spain it is also very rare to find them, so I also like to see these parks full of palm trees when I return to the coast from Salamanca. You're right, beaches in this town are quite wide which I like, where I live on the Costa Blanca the beaches are narrower and in high season when it's crowded with people you hardly have any space to leave your towel, here instead it seems like you have all the space you need. As you can see, on this occasion I couldn't film at sunset and at that time everyone was on the beach, so the rest of the town looks very quiet. It's fun to see how the kids play football on the beach, although it's also a bit risky because if I get too close maybe I might get hit by a ball 😄 Thank you very much for your visit. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Nos vemos. Have a great week too!
