You are indeed a powerful warrior, legendary hero and all who accompanies with him. But for you, I have the bad tidings. Now is the time for my true strength. Cry is you will. Scream if you will. Your suffering is as sacrifice unto I. Now the blood of the legendary hero will be spilled, and forever lost!!!
despite the fact that nimzo was the one in charge of the entire operation, i still cant help but detest Bishop Ladja above all other fictional villains... Even Joffrey Lannister!
+Kuradamax Although he served Nimzo, I maintain that Bishop Ladja was the main villain of the game. Nimzo is rather generic in his evil and only really appears in like the last 5% of the game (although he is mentioned throughout,) while Ladja screwed with you throughout the whole game. This gave Ladja a real presence, and made him absolutely loathsome (in a good way; it made finally killing him feel much more meaningful.) I see the end battle with Nimzo more as "stopping Ladja's plan to free Nimzo so he can rule the world" than "stopping Nimzo's plan to take over the world" because Ladja was just a way better villain.
Darth Rabbitt Haha true also today I beat the game and when I beat Ladja in Mt. Zugzwang I used the same spell he used to kill Pankraz (Kafrizzle) to defeat him in battle
I'm partial to detesting Ladja far more. At every opportunity, he is the one ruining your life. Nimzo may have been behind the scenes, but Bishop Ladja was the one screwing up your life. Man, it's not often a game makes you truly hate a character for more reasons than "he/she's annoying and evil". I felt a personal vendetta with Ladja in DQV.
You guess seem to be forgetting the theme of Zugzwang. They are named after chess pieces, and Zugzwang is a chess related term, in chess, zugzwang is used to refer to a situation where any move would put a player in a disadvantageous position, but the rules of the game compel them to move anyway. Thats why you have King Korol (the weak king, like a real King in chess, which role is very underrepresented), Queen Ferz (fitting to the mindcontrol stuff, which is very powerful and does represent basically the strongest piece on the board), Kon the Knight (selfexplanatory), Slon the Rook & Bishop Ladja. One may wonder what Nimzo is in all of this, well, he is the one who uses the chess pieces, as his name refers to Aron Nimzowitsch, a renowned chess writer and (unofficial) grandmaster. It also helps that Nimzo calls the people from the Order of Zugzwang his pawns. And Bjorn the Behemoose, due to his size, does fit the role of the tower piece. Also the DS version explains a bit more about him, same for the PS2 remake. 2 monsters, 1 soldier and one book revealed he was in fact a human. A book in Lofty Peak called "The Will Of Our Leader" revealed he is a deity born of "lowly disciples" implying he was born of poverty. The book also reveals he soon became the Monarch of Lofty Peak and was wiser than wisdom itself. Unfortunately he took the Secret of Evolution and turned himself into a monster.
@Shaviine They sort did a Toriyama-esque name pun system with the demons in the DS version. Nimzo is named after a master chess player from (you guessed it) Russia, Rok is pretty obviously named after the castle chess piece, and Mt./the Order of Zugzwang is named after a chess term, I think it's another way of saying check-mate. A little clever if you ask me.
@Hyperultragamegamega Actually, that's pretty much Akira Toriyama's signature style of art, whether it's Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, etc. In most of the anime and games that Toriyama designs, the clothing he uses for the characters are taken from various different Asian cultures, including Japanese, Chinese, Arabic and Indian clothing, all merged together into a kind of pan-Asian clothing style.
@Hyperultragamegamega I never thought of that, in fact Psaro and Estark do look alot like some Hindu gods I did a project on once. And the hero's helmet thing looks almost exactly like the headress of an Indian prince! that's crazy. Although I'm not sure what the hell Mortamer from DQ VI looks like though.
yoshifan311 I think only Sophia, Abel and the protagonist from VI (Since he has no canon name to my knowledge) are the only one's who have their legs exposed in some way
As the screen is dark and all you see is this demonic creature who plotted this b4 your birth as you and your kids are fighting to save the world from monsters who trying to invade your land as your mother was the one who gaurd gate of the demon realm who died on her last breath .... After maddison witness the death of mother . gosh this is definitely one of my favorites after playing it last year !
@frostare I doubt it, but thanks to the four arms, wings, and tail, his final form somewhat resembles Molrath or Sido, the final boss of Dragon Quest II. Maybe the fan translators noticed the resemblance and named him accordingly.

@@civilwildman orgodemir is also not one of the hardest final bosses for sure . I played only the original ps1 version and didnt have a really hard time either but i could Not beat him first try without level and job grinding. I have beaten nimzo all the Time without going out of my way for Preparation.
Actually as a DQ fan I've played this enough to notice but it seems like the overworld where the humans live is an Arabian culture. But if you talk to Mildrath at the end (on the DS) his text resembles that of the Russian language. >>
@Kaediths Mortamer's face in his final form looks like that of a Chinese dragon, if that's anything. I was still laughing at how his first form looked like master Roshi and how his second form is all big and buff...but is pink. Nimzo at least had a threatening blood-red color to him.
This game seems like it's more based around Arabic culture. The music and the look of the hero and Mildrath. Does anyone know if each game represents a different culture or not?
hahahahah!!! Well, I wish the world of humans was of arabic culture so I could marry the three of the wives of destiny and not just one! (the choice was somewhat difficult to make... [Bianca FTW!!!])
Honestly this game deserves to have HD remaster with dragon quest XI's graphics, imagine the feels of witnessing pankraz's death in HD.
I was thinking the same thing. I want to go ghost hunting in HD.
There's a version on PS2.
Isnt there a movie?
Dragon Quest: Your Story. Wish fulfilled.
@@HeroStevyn >Doesn't having Toriyama'art style

Same can be said with Dohlmangus in dq8 really

One of the best final boss themes.
I think this might be the best song in Dragon Quest.
...How? Its just random cinematic stings. Nothing is happening.

I’d say Zoma’s theme is the best.
I’d wager for Malroth’s theme from the NES version of DQ2.

This has to be one of the best final boss tracks EVER!
i think you need to broaden your horizons beyond the lord of the rings ost
Ummm, this is Dragon Quest, not Lord of the Rings…
Nothing beats this game's story for me.Anyone who agrees with me like this comment
Theme of December 2020
The best final boss OST i ever heard in my life
Le Grand maître Nimzo apparait !
Now the blood of Legendary hero will be spilled... AND LOST FOREVER!!!
ミルドラースの曲というと地味だが、エスタークの曲というと格好良くなる。

DS version = huge improvement!
Most definitely
Its still generic and meandering

That was one of the coolest parts of Dragon Warrior Monster.. getting to get the main bosses on your team at the end
this is the best music in the game
