    What is the mathematical representation of this in terms of the rate constant K? What is the pre-exponential factor? I wanted to find out about it.

    Photons, photons. Frequency of energy are absorbed by electrons. The electrons gain more kentic energy, and move to another energy level or valent shell. Such a transition causes shifts in magnetic fields, which causes molecules to move back and forth. The stronger the change in fields, the stronger the vibration effect. If the change in fields is too great due to photon absorbtion, and ionization, the molecules vibrate so fast and push or break apart.

      Just think photons and electron absorption and changes in fields and you'll grasp this. I swear schools make things so complicated when it really isn't. The complicated scientific terms throw people off.
