Yeah, he does look extremely good for this age
@ The FirstBourne It’s either Asian don’t raisin or yellow don’t mellow or gold don’t old.
welp, that's literally the main difference between marvel and DC, it's dads vs moms ;)
For those of y'all confused about this: The "Chi" isn't a last name, it's part of Shang-Chi's name. Their family last name is Xu, and it goes before their first name (Xu Wenwu, Xu Xialing, Xu Shang-Chi).

It's like they evolved being middle age out of their life cycle. They look 25 for 20 or 40 years, then wake up one day looking like the old guy from Squid Game.
Yes... Asian people still look young at 20-50... Some 60...
It’s cuz our skin tends to be oily, aka it stays moisturized. Wear facial moisturizer with sunscreen in it, is my advice for aging like an Asian.
@@paulineferrill4348 Is it related to the average Asian diet, by any chance?
@@CoralCopperHead most prob. Asian diet do eat less meat (especially red meat) than, say, average American. I said "average", since I know there are American who balance their diet.

The “ take your shirt off” Casting line was 11/10
Just the placement of it. I snorted and almost choked.
It was epic!
Kevin Feige: I’ll let you in the MCU, just one thing: lose the shirt
It was hysterically accurate & well timed!
He's Ronny Chieng. Great comedian.
How could you missed the joke when Wenwu says "the entire America is afraid... of an orange"
Just thought about that!!!
The Mandarin!🍊 Ooooh scary😨
I eyerolled at that because the orange was named after the (originally) Portuguese name for Chinese administrators, like the language.
Not that it makes all that much sense for the comic book Mandarin to name himself the foreign word for a Chinese bureaucrat, but it's hardly the worst comic book name.
@@SimonBuchanNz Imagine if Wilson Fisk called himself The Middle Manager instead of The Kingpin.

honestly one of the best MCU movies in a while. Actually felt unique for a change
Cause there was decent action... Not innumerable cut scenes during action
I really liked it until the third-act CGI train wreck.

he was the best part of this movie, such a talented actor, I could watch him play a boiled egg :)
Only good part of the movie
I think neither father nor son wanted to actually kill each other. sure, stop them so the world won't end but not outright kill them.
Would totally watch that! Tony Leung has such charisma.
There was an alternate ending where he survives but looks like we'll only get to see him in flashbacks 🥲
I'm glad they made the Kim's Convenience reference. That was a good show. He plays a totally different character in that show.

Well played Honest Trailers
You guys left out the best part, the Chinese government won’t allow the movie to play bc Shang Chi’s actor spoke out against China saying it was basically a third world country the way their population is treated
Also, the bus driver’s number was 8964, which is the date of the Tiananmen square incident, and is also banned in china
@@nimblesheepvenomous3811 The number 721 is also in the movie, alluding to the 721 incident in Hong Kong two years ago where the police and gang members joined forces to beat up people in the train station
Also a classic Taiwanese snack appeared in the security control room scene, which is just way too obvious to not be edited out. It's definitely done on purpose.
Very observant. Watch, Disney will give a CGI facelift to the character and those scenes to make it China friendly. 😂
@@nitroscout8119 you can’t give a cgi facelift to something an actor said on his own.

“This could have been an email” is IHMO the best joke of the series so far
Can we talk about how Disney just showed how to actually bend the elements in live action? Shang-chi and the Legend of the Avatar.
^^ well, air and water only.
Metal bending too if you consider the rings to be made out of metal lol
Yes yes yes! Now this is the real live action bending! Not some lame dance in the movie that doesn't exist 😅
@@alwari527 there is no movie in ba sing se 🤨

okay, whoever came up with that needs a raise.
Shang Chi is one of those Marvel films I would've loved to have an intimate ending kinda like they did in Civil War but nah they really went for dragons from another dimension
Agree. It didn't need that massive monster battle at all.
Specifically didn't need love and forgiveness to win the day. Barf.
Can't end like how 80s HK action cinema would. Gotta bring the Marvel 3rd Act ™ magic to their summer blockbuster of the year.
@@t4d0W Ah yes the classic old school Hong Kong Credits Roll ending, where the villain just died at the hands of the protagonist and it cuts straight to credits...no conclusion to all the other plotlines, no what happened to the hero after they got their revenge...just straight up end lol sigh they just don't make em like they used to 😅
Well they changed the entire comic history of Shang-Chi, so that dragon fight was necessary, otherwise if they stuck to comics, there would be more martial art sequences and no dragon fight, but yet again the comic villain is racist which would offend Asians.

Hawkeye... Upgrade! 😂
This movie is living proof though that with the right people, a Hollywood live-action DragonBall movie *COULD* actually work.
The risks are too high son. Another Dragon Ball Evolution could kill me and many others.
Nope nope nope! We have had over 14 lessons that anime should never be adapted to the big screen with live action, we don't need another one! But if we have to, it should be with actors like James Marsters who understood the legacy of it and fought hard to preserve it.
@@gregoryo4417 There are plenty of good anime adaptation. But none if it made by hollywood. Rurouni Kenshin live actions were a good example. Edge of Tomorrow was great manga adaptation, but it's because the makers only adapt the concept and make their own story around it while staying true to the concept. Hollywood have the tendencies to ignore the source material and make their own concept and story.
@@potiguaya5201 Oh don't get me wrong, there have been good adaptations for manga and anime. There have been faithful ones by studios (Alita is probably the best example) and great adaptations that some don't even know about (There were actually two live action Dragon Ball movies before Evolution, and they were honestly pretty funny and good). I probably should have mentioned this and explained in more detail. What I mean is that anime and manga in their respective mediums work great, and animated movies and adaptations usually turn out alright if the fans want to see them brought to life. The problem is for every Alita, we get five Evolutions, and studios are still trying to figure it out now, since Cowboy Bebop isn't exactly doing all that well. The main issue is that Hollywood for the most part focusses on sales and figures rather than faithful adaptations, and there are hardly any companies other than Hollywood to try it and do it right anymore (remember those DB movies I mentioned earlier? They were made before the 2000s and at least one of them was illegal to produce due to not owning the rights, even if it was more accurate). Please forgive me for what I said, but what I am trying to say is that it is very, very rare that we will get anime movies that learn from the mistakes of the ones before in order to become great. And if Death Note 2 is still green lit and can be good on its own, I will send you a letter of apology. Sorry for all of that, have a great day.
I think if they were going to even attempt DBZ again. It should be a very high budget tv series. On prime or something like that. Not saying they should, but that would be ideal. Don't cram everything into a 2 hr movie.
This was fun! Shang-Chi was my favourite MCU project from 2021, what a fantastic movie
The human calendar 📅 was spot on 👌🏾😂😂😂
The fact they was able to add Pokemon, the dragon from spirited away and a monster from Godzilla monsterverse made this movie sooo much more awesome!
"Except the one about Asian dudes being the biggest sneakerheads"
I taught in China for 3 years. The boys care more about their outfits, shoes included, than the girls do. Though they care about sports cars and basketball more.
I like how you snuck in Kim's Convenience at the end. That was clever.
"Your soul is mine" best descript for the monster 😂
What I liked most about this movie is that the 'bad guy' you are assuming throughout the whole movie turns out to NOT be the bad guy. Ol' pops was just misguided, still in love with his wife and determined to get her back, and he was convinced she was still alive behind that gate by THE big bad guy. I actually felt bad for the guy.
Still, killing a village to revive your wife is a tradeoff that only bad people would do, like kingping in spiderverse
This movie was dumb af
That's what makes his character is so likeable because we feel attached to him since from beginning
@@LuisEnriquecrack well in his defense he thought they were holding her against her will
Change is also probably hard to come by for a thousands of years old undefeated warlord who got everything he wanted by pillage and conquest, and seeing that he lost everything he cared about the moment he tried to stop being that, the relapse is kind of understandable.
Not at all the sane person thing to do, but understandable.

I too am definitely tired of it. I feel the movie didn't need the big bad to be released, or the dragon to be awoken. It would have been fine, and probably better without.
One thing I liked about the Eternals is the final battle: no faceless armies, no kaiju, just two powerful bosses to fight.
Yeah because having Wenwu be a full villain and receive no redemption would definitely have been a way more fulfilling conclusion, especially since it’d mean Shang-Chi probably kills him, which goes against his entire arc.
I saw this last night, and really got to thinking about the number of secret evil societies in the MCU: Do they not end up stepping on each other's toes? Do they have secret evil meetings?
Do Ta Lo and Wakanda have a treaty?

Just give him an eyepatch to go with his goatee and that’ll be it.
Makes sense that it's either him or Strange becoming the new glue of Phase 4, since it's multiverse shenanigans all around.
This movie is actually “Fantastic Beasts and where to find them”
i gotta be honest here, i was distracted with the bad dad the entire time, he was actually a pretty awesome character i hardly remember the rest of the movie lol

YEEEESSSS!!!! They referenced Kim’s Convenience!!! So gooooood. It really was the perfect showcase for what they wanted in Shang chi. Wasn’t surprised in the least when they chose jung. Still sore that the creators dropped kind so abruptly!! I’m fine with shows ending. But it was so stark and the actors and fans were so ready for more
I just watched this yesterday and was genuinely surprised how good it was.
Two camps. "Genuinely v good" and "a BS marvel movie made to be PC"
Shang Chi is The MCU's Jin Kazama. Minus being a war criminal and a half demon
