Used the K&N filter in a Jeep Wrangler for more than 175,000 miles. I check the condition at each oil change (7,500). Depending on the season it will be a bit dirtier at the 7,500 check. Averaged cleaning approximately 15,000. Keep your old (if still usable) filter and pop it in when you pull out the K&N to clean. Follow the washing directions and rinse the filter thoroughly. You need to let the K&N dry completely before you put the oil back on the media. I let it dry for at least 2 days. Also, once you put on the oil let the filter sit for a couple of hours to allow the oil to uniformly saturate the media. You will also note if you put too much oil on the media, so you can reduce the amount you apply during the next application. Put the newly treated filter back in the compartment and keep the old filter for the next reapplication. I prefer the aerosol oil container instead of the finger pump oil container. I can apply less and get better uniformity. Same filter for 175,000 miles, saved approximately $160, so far.
Thank you so much for this video, and the one on how to replace the cabin air filter. I thought maybe it would be a complicated process since my dealership wanted to charge me $110 to change both!! You saved me some money, and I’ll be considering trying out the K&N. Thanks again!
I believe most change it at 10,000-15,000 miles...when using the reusable K&N air filter, they tell you what to look for which is a buildup of dirt that restricts airflow as then you would clean it
May I change the topic? Where is the pcv valve located on that crv? When you unclipped the 2nd clip, was that the pcv valve just to the left of your left hand?
Eric, if I do not use the washable cabin filters, how often approximately do you recommend to change the cabin filter? How about the engine filter? Thanks.

Keep your original filter to replace while the reusable is drying in case you need to use your car right away after cleaning.
thanks for the info. dealers charge $ 59.00 to replace this filter is unbelievable
Thanks for the video. You saved me lots of money. The mechanics charge around $30.00 to install these things!

How is the gas miles now better than before or it is the same?
it has a little more acceleration...as for gas it's not a huge difference but you won't be buying an air filter again either

How often should you replace the engine air filter?
+TikiTrvlr I go by how dirty it is when I do an oil change and check it. I would guess every 10000-20000 miles
Thanks for info

You got ripped off K&N are pure BS, $60 for a $10 filter, plus K&N let too much dirt by
I disagree. I did not pay $60 for it and it has been working great.
