- Not my F150 but still auto related so I thought I would do a quick video.
Small update as of 11/26/2019, I have seen online that chipmunks getting into the air filter compartment of these vehicles is kinda common :D

I solved your problem. The acorns were deposited by Alvin, Simon and Theodore.
Thank you so much. I am homeschooling my kids this year and thought this would be a great opportunity to have my kids (ages 8 and 12) learn some very basic car maintenance. This video was easy and simple for them to follow. Thank you again!
Love this!
Thank you so much for this!! My dad used to show me all of these tips and tricks, and I no longer have him around to teach me. This is incredibly helpful.
I just got taken by the dealership , The manager showed me the filters , while getting a oil change , The dealship charged me a outrages price for the cabin filter and engine filter , I question the manager , nothing could be done lesson learned . Good video !
What's a dealership? Oh, you meant stealership. 😆
As shown here, the process is simple to do yourself, other than the time to buy the filters themselves, of which you'll pay considerably less than what they ask at the service centres! I personally tend to do my own oil changes and filters (always having the confidence it was done correctly) albeit realize not everyone has either the abilities, time or tools...but some of these processes are extremely simple (thanks to UA-cam for showing many) and there is 'quite' a $ saving! I've had an interest in vehicle repair since my early teens, thus have lots of tools, even for big jobs, and one doesn't need a lot of experience for these simple tasks! Good luck, to all those willing to do these small jobs.
Thank you…I’m 72 and just followed your video…easy peasy….. You saved me some money.
I've had acorns in the air filter in the glove compartment of my CRV. I park under three huge oaks, and the squirrels use it as a store house. Occasionally one will roll loose and land in the fan which makes a helluva racket - but is easily retrieved.
Glad the see I'm not the only one that has issues with the annoying air filter latches. 🤣🤣
And now I'm confident in replacing the cabin filter!!
Thank you for showing and explaining. All short and sharp, well done!
I am happy this was useful for you :)
Thanks for making this. My son always wants to look at the engine so tomorrow I’ll do something useful at the same time 😁
Thanks so much!! Someone told me I had to remove part of the dash to get to the cabin filter, so I put it off. Good to k ow it's not!
Happy the video helped :)
thanks man, my dad appreciated I changed them, and I saved myself good money.
Extremely helpful! Made changing my own filters a breeze (I'm not a car girl at all, I do love to drive though 😁 ) Thank you!
I am happy that you found this helpful :)
Have a 2916 CRV & can tell you that the catch on the side is very difficult to relatch for. Two of us tried just using our fingers. Nope. Had to get a 18" extra heavy screwdrivers and use it as a lever to reinstall the latch. Stevie Wonder could have designed an easier to secure latch. Now only use cabin filter with a built-in charcoal filter. Replace every 10,00 miles.
I had the same problem with the side clip. Not hard to unlatch but couldn't get it relatched. It is snug but I know that latch should be shut. Glad I saved money though
Thanks so much! I missed seeing the 3rd, rear clip!
This video should be titled "How to get acorns out of your engine air filter compartment".
Dude Honda wanted to charge me $979 to fix the A.C. when it was just the filter.
Not Honda; just the dealerships. Each dealership is privately owned and operated.
If a work is done under warranty, then Honda pays the dealerships for the work. Honda itself doesn't fix or service anything. It's all done by subcontractors.
Thank you!! New fella for car here and save me ...from dealer ripe off
We had a similar problem on our CRV. A rodent was living in the AC air ways, right behind the engine compartment. It was chewing down on the cabin air filter. The tech at the dealer advised us to run the AC at it's highest setting with inside air circulation on, and leave it on before shutting down the engine at the end of the day, this way the outside vents stay close, and nothing can get in, but, acorns in the engine air filter? That's a first for me too.
They're from Alvin, Simon and Theodore.
How did the rodent survive without food and water in there?
Thanks soo much for this video!!! I just changed my engine filter in less than 1 minute. 😊😊😊
I always have my car serviced at the dealer and they were going to charge me $70 for air filter: I told them I changed it but I thought they meant the cabin air. Well, they honored my no and didn’t bother me about it. I’m driving and getting the worst fast mileage since doing the oil change. I just realized I said no to the engine air filter 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ so I hope when I get my filter tomorrow, that this is why.
Thanks for the video. I appreciate the corrections during the video. And off I go to do the change
Helpful video, Glad you updated it, think seasons and when the small animals collect Nuts, TY
Looks like that compartment wasn't sealed after all 😁
Thx will use these I said no to the oil change folks figured these were doable, very helpful!!
Great tutorial!
Wow, I wish you were my son-in-law . But it looks like I can do it myself. Thank you! ☺
Thanks Mr. Darktoylord. Clear and helpful instruction.
Acorns. Haha. Nice twist. I’ll make sure I check for debris before I install my new air filter.
Thanks so much for this
I’m a woman and thanks to you I changed my filter all by myself! Lol my remote is not popping the trunk, any suggestions.. also is there a button for the trunk inside the car?
Jiffy Lube put those acorns in there so when she drives it rattles. She would think more stuff is wrong with her car
Or Jiffy Lube threw the acorns in there themselves to show your MIL. Jiffy Lube has an incredibly bad reputation.
When they show me the cabin filter at JL I take it outside and shake it out, bring it back inside and say no thanks to a replacement (a bit cheeky, I know). I then buy my own and replace it for 1/4 of the price they quoted me.
Jiffy deffenetly lubed you up lol.
Those filters dont look like they were touched for ages. Some of these places charge you to change your filters and never touch them.
Better of doing it your self
Thanks 👍
Thank you very much
God Bless
Thank you!!
Great video!!!
Thanks for the video
Thanks 🙏for sharing 👍❤️
Thumbs up means it's good enough
i have no idea there is something called cabin filter…thank you
If you have allergies and find yourself sneezing in your car, change the cabin filter...stopped my wife from sneezing all the time....mold build up, too. Thanks....
Any signs of nibbling on the wiring harness.
You better use OEM Honda air filter for engine it’s completely different than aftermarket ones, but for cabin it’s worth it buying aftermarket ones to save money
I wouldn’t take a car anywhere but my dealership, and even they are kind of sketchy with their work, Jiffy Lube has a bad reputation for charging people for work that hasn’t been done, they have no problem taking your money for nothing, I do as much as I know and can do with my car, be your own mechanic!
..
Thank you!
