This was honestly a heartwarming review I appreciate you considering some people don't have the money to buy expensive laptops. Sometimes even 600 dollars for a laptop was too much for my family to afford. Keep up the great work ❤ thank you for a good review❤
Love you for that , people just act like money grows on trees! I appreciate the humbleness you have ❤ it’s really hard to find now days . God bless you
Keep in mind everyone, this is the 2019 model with the Ryzen 3 3200u. I've had it for a couple of years. Great laptop for the price. It comes with a removable 4GB stick of RAM and 2.5 inch hard drive bay. I upgraded mine to 16GB and added an SSD. The 4GB of RAM on the newer models of this laptop (the ones with a USB C port) is SOLDERED. There's only 1 slot to add RAM.
This is arriving Tomorrow for me. It is still so out of budget but I pused myself and parents to help me to get this. Hope to change the world with this gadget ❤️
I've had an Acer Aspire 5 sinds 2018. Only issue I had was the HDD crashing after two years. Replaced it with an SSD and it made my laptop super fast. For $500 at the time it was great value. It even has a USB-C port.
First things first. I really enjoy your presentations and have sub'd as a result. Loved your Echo Dot video too. Glad the UA-cam algorithm popped you up in my feed. Regarding the above laptop. I purchased 2 of these back in 2019 after seeing a review. The price point then was $315, and as they say, "Such a deal!" The clincher was these can be upgraded by the user. What I did was take them out of S mode and put them into regular mode like you did. I then changed the NVME drives from the 128 gig to Intel 512 gig 660p's. Then added terabyte SSD's to the expansion space. Plus upgraded the RAM to 16 gigs. It can take up to 32 gigs, which is overkill for sure. The internal build quality is excellent. Of note for me especially, is the power connector is independent of the motherboard, so one does not have to worry about breaking it off as in other builds and crippling the machine. As for peripherals, I use the Bluetooth function for a mouse and external speakers. No issues whatsoever. One unit I kept as Windows 10, the other I turned into an Ubuntu 20.04 machine. Works perfectly under Ubuntu, I use the BT function for externals there too. The most complex piece of software I use is on the Windows machine and that is an SDR radio program that requires high sampling rates of received radio spectrum. It satisfactorily crunches up to 4 Megahertz of spectrum, which is quite impressive for such a low cost machine. Yes, one can say I have become a fanboy for the Acer Aspire 5.
Nice review. I'm getting this laptop on my birthday next month. I'm a kid and this laptop does everything what I need to do. Perfect review and laptop. I like how it's affordable and you get this much for the price. Nice video!
I purchased an Acer Aspire E 15 seven years ago, installed Linux and has been functioning extremely well and still is. Better than a couple of HP laptops I had.
Finally a budget laptop, not a “budget” midrange at $700, not a $250 ultra-budget Windows laptop with 1 GHz + 4GB RAM + 64 GB Hard Drive, nor a $200 Chromebook.
I absolutely loved this vídeo! Just tested and said everything that is "required" or something that normal people want to know and buy for this price... thank you
Thank you for your review, I have had the Acer 5 for the last 7.5 years and it had served me well. Unfortunately, I am retiring my present one because it is getting a bit slow and one of the hinges had come apart, but I am off to the Good Guys to purchase another one. Cannot wait to unwrap my new Acer. 🤗
ive been on an Acer Aspire E15 for the last 3 years and it continues to be a very good laptop especially for the price. Cant spean on the Aspire 5 but my experience with Acer has been good!
Wasn’t sure if I should but after this video lol 😂 I’m not doing anything crazy on my laptop just occasionally school, meetings, and leisure this works just fine. I bought one thanks 🙏
I remember seeing Ryzen 5 3500u laptops for $300-400 pre-COVID. Then the world lost its damn mind and laptop prices exploded. The Ryzen 3200u annoyed me because the Ryzen 3200g was a awesome bang for the buck and 3200u was weaker than Athlon branded CPUs. It’s Chromebook performance on a windows laptop. I wound up waiting for a 4000 series laptop.
Yeah I can kinda agree. I own this computer, and while it isn't as fast as my macbook air m1, it works great with 12gb of ram (added an 8gb stick to the existing 4gb) and put Linux on it, and it works much better than it did with Windows 10 and at 4gb of ram. Other than that, it is quite nice.
I've been searching for laptops for school, and I think this might be the one I (My dad, actually) purchase! I may get a vinyl cover the the ~aesthetic~, but other than that it fills all of of my, and my school's requirements! (School starts next year so I am far ahead of myself, but at this point I'm fixated at looking for a laptop)
I had one of these until recently. Unfortunately, the on/off button went kaput, making the laptop effectively dead. A repair would have required a whole new keyboard as the button is integrated into the keyboard. This is a big minus point, and it's not mentioned. Otherwise, it performed well for 3 years.
acer and lenovo something i been hearing about my friends this year. My mom wants new laptop, i got myeself a lenovo im waiting for, thinking getting her an acer since hearing some nice things about this brand.
I bought an Aspire 5 in December of 2019 on Amazon for like $300. It might have been even less. 8th gen i3. I don't remember how much RAM it came with but I upgraded it myself anyways and brought it up to 12GB. For general day-to-day tasks, this laptop has been phenomenal for the price. Never had a single issue with it over a span of almost 4 years. Great, reliable machine from Acer. Edit: Had to come back and add this to my comment. When thinking about the price of this laptop, how well it handles the basics, the daily grind, and how reliable it is....this is like the Toyota Corolla of Laptops lol
@@DayoAworunse It's good; playing minecraft @ 60fps no problem, though I preset it @ 60. Ok I've never could get used to the laptop pads or even try so I'm using a Logitech G502 Hero.

Always stay behind the curve. I've had a couple Acers but I went on Amazon in December 22 and I got an HP 840 g3 with 16gig ram and 500 SSD drive for $307. If I had bought it when it was new it'd been $1200-$1500. I started with a Vic 20 and later a Commodore 64. They had less than no memory by comparison. Don't get the latest or the best, wait it out and get there cheap.

The laptop literally sits on the speakers (terrible design choice). And the speakers aren't the greatest either. For comparison's sake I bought an HP laptop in 2016 at around the same price and it had touchscreen, a better touchpad and MUCH better speakers. Not even exaggerating, but when both laptops would get turned up to max volume the HP laptop was about twice as loud. Or somewhere close. It's to the point that if I have the speakers on lower than 50% volume you basically can't hear clearly and make out what is being said in videos, music, etc. By contrast, on the HP I could still hear relatively good at around 20%. I do not recommend this laptop for anyone who plans on watching lots of videos, listening to music, etc. Unless you're okay with using headphones or buying external speakers for it. The touchpad also feels a bit gimmicky and cheap like it it doesn't correctly register what you press all the time. I could live with the less than perfect touchpad, but the audio issue is a deal breaker for me. Disappointing, because in other respects it's a decent laptop especially for the price.
I have one and it is better; than Microsoft book three. I had previously for music. The latency was very noticeable on microsoft book three. There's is less latency problems.Without the use of asio 4 in use. A upgrade on the memory and add ssd drive. Over all it's a great piece of equipment for the bang.
