My wife would add that the Spyder makes for good therapy. She will hint "Are you going for a ride?" either to get me out of the house or get me into a better mood. And in all my rides it has never failed me yet :) Wind therapy at its best. And the first time I traveled across a bridge with steel grating it felt so much more steady then compared to just two wheels under me. And you are so correct that other vehicles are much less likely to pull out in front of you than when I had two wheels under me. Maybe the only drawback is when I missed friends who see me riding around and they question me why I didn't wave back to them. A good problem to have because if they see me most other folks driving around will also.

Coach Bob! This is a wonderful video and if I were sitting on the fence, this would certainly help me decide! You give some great reasons to go from 2 to 3 wheels! I just love how BRP cares about those who have served and suffered disabling injuries...everyone should be able to experience wind therapy! And as Spyder Wayne has said...the whole new world of friendships opened up by riding a Can-Am! When I was hospitalized in South Dakota this past year on our way back from Alaska, not only was my family praying for me but I had so many messages, cards and gifts from my Can-Am Family...thankful to you and Coach Vic for letting others know I needed prayers. I cannot wait to get back out in the spring to enjoy riding and meeting others. Be safe out there and keep having fun!! 🤗🤗💜💜🙏🙏

Great points, Coach Bob. I know personally that switching to 3 wheels has been a great decision for me as I was having balance issues on 2 wheels. No more worries about grass, gravel, or rain riding into a curve. Still cautious? Yes. More confident, oh yes. More fun, definitely.😊

I can think of one really good bonus reason to go from 2 to 3 wheels, especially for CanAm Spyders or Rykers, and that bonus reason is for those who are considering or already have switched to 3 wheels, you will likely be researching and finding information about 3 wheel machines, most likely via UA-cam videos. You will not only find very useful information, but you will find an amazing, wonderful community of like-minded people sharing their experiences on 3 wheels. And, you just might begin meeting some of these people as you find and learn about meetups, and all of a sudden, your circle friends begins to grow. You'll find out there's more things to do, more rides to find, and more people to meet, and more fun to have than you could ever imagine. 😊😁🤗

I bought me a 2021 Ryker Brand New for my 60th. Best Thing I ever did. I Love it. Yesterday my Husband and I went out for Lunch Yesterday. He has a 2021 Harley Freewheeler. When we pulled up to Resturant. Two Ladies came up to me. They said they were talking about the 3 Wheelers while they were having Lunch. They both Loved my Ryker.

I had never ridden any motorcycle until that day I took my Spyder riding class. I didn't know anything about it until, for three years, my best friend was telling me all about his Spyder experiences and until I started watching UA-cam channels (you know who you are 😉). But the moment we left the training parking lot and actually took to the road, I knew this was the right thing for me. September 4th 2021. May 19th 2022 I picked up my Sea-to-Sky. I simply love it! It has given me so much joy, beautiful rydes and new friends, a new lease on life. Cheers Coach! Carpe diem et veho!

Coach Bob, another bonus is the price. The new 2024 TR Sea to Sky is $32,000 MSRP compared to the top of the line Tri Glide at over $50,000. I know the Harley dealer network is second to none, yet any well maintained vehicle is reliable.

Thank you for this valuable information, Coach Bob.
I am a veteran T3 complete paraplegic that rides a 2023 Spyder RT Limited that has some customizations that allow me to ride. I’ve ridden two wheels when I was able bodied. So, I can attest to your comments about the perceptions I have as a two wheel rider. As a three wheel rider that has some physical limitations my experience with the Spyder has been remarkable! I got the handbrake setup from ISCI and a backrest from online. I use a chest strap for stability.
I went on a solo 92 mile ride recently up and down my favorite mountain twisties. No problem. Heated grips and seat heaters kept me warm and comfortable. The big windscreen kept the chilly wind off of me. I still got my knees in the breeze, as they say and it was wonderful.
After having been paralyzed just before retirement was a gut punch. I thought my life was over. No. Not yet. I’m riding the bike of my dreams. I’m eating right. It is possible to overcome immense changes in our lives. I just need to remember a few simple facts and follow some rules.
I am powerless over so much in life. I am not powerless over my attitude. I can collect information that support my goals. I can find people who are willing to help. And I can make the effort needed to realize my dreams. Thank you, CB3 for the guidance and motivation. See you on the road.
BTW - I overcame the fuel filler port under the driver’s seat by filling up three 2 gallon gas cans and fueling while off the bike. That was my wife’s idea.
    My gripes about the bike might be obvious;
    1 - no hand brake - really!!? #anyonecannotride
2 - fuel filler port under the driver’s seat.
    Thanks again!
    Sam

Oh how very scary!! Glad you are still with us! 🙏 Hope you get the opportunity for test rides of the Spyders if you haven't already. Look up Can Am Experience when the schedule has been posted by BRP. Talk about test rides! Hubby and I happened to be riding in New England last June and were able to do the experience in Connecticut. We went on a 50 mile test ride with Tiffany. We stopped halfway and switched rides so we each got to ride the F3 Limited and the Sea to Sky. Hope you get to try them both. Going from a Harley, you may like the seating position of the F3 better because it sits more life a cruiser. My hubby has a Harley and he says when he is ready for three wheels he is definitely getting a Spyder. They are so much fun! You can tour on both models... We've been all over the US. I'm almost ready for my 2nd Spyder and I'm looking at another F3 Limited. Best wishes in your search for your perfect ride! 💜🤗🙏

Hey Coach Bob. I bought a new 2022 Spyder RTL a month ago. You're right, they're fun. I've been riding on 2 wheels for almost 55 years. I've ridden everything from a Bridgestone 100 TMX to a HD Road Glide Ultra. I injured my back while on active duty in '82 and reinjured it in 2020. I downsized from my Road Glide Ultra to a Sport Glide, because it was lighter and closer to the ground and my brain just couldn't accept riding on 3 wheels. I contemplated the Tri-Glide and Freewheeler, but I heard too many things about the steering (I've also had 4 shoulder surgeries). So, I took the leap and got the Spyder. All I can say is, I should have done it when I went to the Sport Glide. Thanks for all your great videos and info.

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to ride both a Harley and Goldwing trike and neither one tripped my trigger. I started looking at Spyders and after a lot of reseaech purchased a low mileage used RTL. My thinking was that if i didnt like it, I wouldnt have as much money tied up as I would if I bought new.
Short story, I fell in love. Then the new style came out in '20 and I made the leap. Second short story, fell in love even more.
Through all this I kept my Goldwing for two years, but every time I went for a ride, I jumped on the Spyder, so I made a couple very happy by selling it to them.
My only complaint is the same as yours and others, the lack of a hand brake. Moreso, I miss the ability to touch the handbrake and disengage the cruise control. Having to raise your foot and tap the brake pedal is a pain. Maybe I'm just old and lazy, but if they could just remedy this one thing it would be perfect. IMHO. Ryde on!

I learned how to ride a two wheeled motorcycle but never felt comfortable enough to ride on the road with cars. Too much to worry about. But I got a RTL in 2022 and now I know the freedom and relaxation that only riding a motorcycle can give you. Watching your videos since then has really helped me to improve my skills and I feel grateful that I found you on UA-cam!

Even though I have an older Spyder (2013 ST manual), it is the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden and most relaxed... so I can enjoy the riding even more than before.
The thing I love about it the most is the reverse gear. I park my bikes in a barn which has a loose metal driveway... on my previous 2 wheelers when I've backed them out the loose footing on the metal drive was always an issue with my feet slipping, on my cruiser bike I completely lost my footing and the bike slipped and went over... never a problem with the Spyder. 😎
Hill starts, even on the manual Spyder, are SO much easier than on 2 wheeler 👍

    • @PurpleOnThree
      @PurpleOnThree 6 місяців тому +1

That's awesome, Mark! I don't have a manual but my driveway is 2/10 of a mile long and gravel...when I rode two wheels, I dreaded coming home and riding up our S shaped driveway...nor worries now lol!

Spot on review Coach! I'm only 5'4 and most of the 10 Harley's I've owned over 30 years I had to make costly adjustments to the seats and suspension to have my feet firmly on the ground. And most of the time the adjustments took some of the comfort out of the ride. For a few years I had a Goldwing Trike with a CSC trike kit, (rode like a dream, but is very big bulky). I never once worried about dropping it and could ride 8 or 10 hours day after day with no problem. I was way more relaxed and could enjoy the rides way more. Riding 2 up was also care free and my wife felt much safer and had more protection from the wind and rain. Of course she would sit back there behind me reading a book, drinking a margarita on hot days!!! My next motorcycle purchase will be a Can Am Spyder RT limited or Sea to Sky. In comparing the GW Trike and the Spyder, the Spyder has way more usable storage than the trike I had. I think the mpg is about the same. Plus the Spyder has a real reverse!

Great video as usual and I love the list. First and foremost it’s just fun! I went from 62 years of two wheeling to three an about a year and a half ago due to a knee that just doesn’t work as well. My wife rides a Ryker Sport and it’s because these are so easy to ride. Even with that getting proficient takes practice but the learning curve is greatly accelerated for sure. If you are good on two, take the time to learn the Can-Am way then reapply all you know and it really is an amazing machine. I hope to get your way this coming year and hopefully can buy you a cup of coffee and maybe turn a few miles. Keep the Shiny side up 👍🙂

The best I’ve done, a supertrike with everything I wanted from start, but just ordered the PedalBox (had that on the Ryker and it raise the response on throttle from 65% to 95% (regulations in europe), that’s an easy way to power it up.

I completely agree - especially with the fact that other road users give you much more space and treat you like a small car rather than as a motorcycle.

I will say this Spiders are great machines to own and ride. The downside is that BRP does not have enough parts available to repair them or enough dealerships to work on Them. overall I give them a 👍.🏍💭💭💭

I have to disagree on the comfort level after 50 weeks and 13440 miles I could never get comfortable on it and nether could my wife.

I'm sure you're not the only person who doesn't feel comfortable on a Spyder, but I haven't seen too many opinions like yours. It's usually from someone who has never ridden a Spyder. There's no such thing as a perfect bike/trike. There isn't a motorcycle where one size fits all. I was wondering if that meant you prefer a Harley or Goldwing trike, or maybe prefer a 2 wheel touring bike? Your opinion is an informed opinion, that's credible, because you've put a lot of miles on a Spyder 😁👍

@@SpyderWayne I test road a Harley trike and found the handling questionable , not as stable as the spyder in the twistys. The comfort was fine, but the handling YIKES , Then again it was only a 50 minute test ride. Now don't get me wrong the spyder was a great running machine I just found the ergonomics all wrong for me from the seating position to handlebar placement and lack of adjustability plus it was HOT VERY HOT at times I would to check to make sure the seat was not turned on and that was my wife complaint also along with how wide the passenger seat was and seeing she's only 4-10 it really spread her hips and made taking a trip a painful experience. Believe me when I tell you we tried everything to make it comfortable for both of us.

@Grumpyoldman60- I believed your comment was very credible due to the mileage you rode on your Spyder. Yes.the RT seats are big and high. What you just explained, I have heard of with the RT, and is one of the reasons some people prefer the F3, seats are big but not quite as big as the RT, and you sit lower, it rides more like a cruiser. I solved the non-adjustable handlebar issue with handlebar risers, which then allows rotational adjustments. I solved the "hot seat" issue with the gel "Butt Buffer" brand seat pad, but never leave that pad on the seat in the sun, the sun will heat it up beyond belief. But It allow some air flow when riding, and it's awesome (but not cheap). Riders of any bike need to be comfortable on any extended riding because it's certainly no fun otherwise. Thank you for the explanation. It makes sense... ride safe and ride smiling, Sir 😁👍

Stephan, I'm glad you have a ride now that you enjoy! When we took the 2023 models for a ride, the Sea to Sky seat felt too wide for me and I much prefer the F3 seating. @@Grumpyoldman60- Short reach handlebars work perfectly for me but I'm guessing I'm much shorter than you are lol. Yes, it can get warm at times...doesn't help that when we go on long trips, I only take one pair of riding boots, and they happen to be waterproof, which are a tad warmer for sure. Anyways, enjoyr your ride and stay safe!
