The dealer should have taken a part off a new Spyder and got him on the road, then taken up the fight with BRP to get the donor bike going.

I've had my 2022 RTL for about 14 months. I have taken it to the dealer (RideNow Powersports, Chandler AZ) once, for the 3,000 mile service and to fix the brake switch recall. Overall, it was a good experience. The only issue was they had my spyder for 5 days to do what should have been a 2 hour job. I know this dealer is gigantic, and sells and services probably 15 different brands, so they are extremely busy. But still, you make an appointment and it should be done is a reasonable amount of time.

Parts has been an ongoing problem. So far my dealer has been great. They were up front with me, when I had a problem, they told me it could be 10 weeks before I get my Spyder back. It was 10 weeks . BRP, needs to get there act together. It should never take 10 weeks for a repair.

Good morning. I have been following your UA-cam channel for a couple of years. I don't want to make this too long, but I used to ride a little as a youth and young adult. I was in the Navy and stationed in the Philippines. I bought a 380 to ride back and forth to work. My wife was so scared to ride. When we came to the states, I was at sea more than here. I was stationed out of Virginia, so I just never got into Biking. A couple years ago, I saw a Can Am and was intrigued. The short of it, is I took the diving class and been looking. I watch most all you tube's I can find. I follow several, Starting with you. I really like your factual videos. My wife still doesn't want me to get a trike. We have plans I need to work around. So I'm thinking this April to start getting our riding gear, and plan on next winter to perches a trike. I haven't decided yet on new or used. But pricing is best November to February. I don't think I want a trike older than a 2020. I really like the 2024 Can Am upgrades. And I really like the Sea to Sky. But not sure it's worth the cost deference over the Limited. Wish me luck on getting the wife on board with getting my bike.

I got this recall notice when it was too late. I am in Hawaii, and my bike is starving for fuel. My nearest BRP dealer is on Maui, and it will cost me $600 round trip to ship my bike to them and get the recall. So, I called BRP and as well FBC of San Diego to help me out no dice. Maui store won't let their mother store on Oahu do it because they are not yet certified by BRP. Even though as a prior service manager, you can put a new tech on a recall just to have senior tech watch, and with technology nowadays, it won't be hard.

Coach Bob, I am getting ready to sell my Harley to get a Can am Spyder. One of the things that sold me on Harley was the network of dealers and of course, the lifestyle. I had a situation with an older bike where the shift linkage broke. Being on older bike the part would have to be ordered. The dealer found on old linkage off another bike and put it on mine so I could still ride. The part could not be guaranteed, but it worked in the interim. BRP could have pulled the part from the manufacturing line to get the bike fixed. I am looking forward to a 2023 Sea to Sky knowing I will be doing a lot of the work myself. I watched Hettish World where they could not get a simple oil change through three dealerships. In talking with my perspective dealer, I was told the summer can have two to three month waiting times just to get in. I know this going in so it will not be a shock. I have watched many UA-cam videos with the only fear is getting used to taking off the plastics. Once I do it I feel it will get easier. God Bless with prayers for Coach Vic and Baba.

I have never really had to wait on services. The only issue I had was getting a rear tire. Which I ended up getting 6 days later.
When Vickie and I crossed the country we were nervous about the dealer network..or lack thereof. It has turned out to not be an issue. We are definitely loving the Spyder and wouldn't be without one.
Thanks for the comment and I can't wait to hear of your travel on your new Spyder!!!

Coach Bob, I wish purple on Three had more Alaska content. I have seen many Spyder trips on UA-cam with John and Miriam getting through a fuel pump replacement in Tulsa, OK. I know there will be no regrets when I get mine this year. Your videos have been a help when it comes to learning about the Spyder. I did two test rides last year acting like I rode them for years. The steering, leaning, seating position, and seeing you ride all helped me when I test rode. I pray one day to visit.

Hi Coach! My Spyser is great. The dealer I bought it from in 2020 whent out of business so I found another near me in the DFW area. They have been great and I have no complaints. I had not had any major maintenance or problems with my Spyder. I has been into the dealer for routine oil changes and recommended maintenance. Eveything has been great. I will admit the complaints I hear the most about BRP is their weak support for dealers and dealers not supporting Spyder as much as they should.

thanks for the recall notices. This is an ongoing issue with Can Am On-road and I hear these stories from my subscribers and other riders as well. There is no reason at all that a bike has to sit for weeks to get fixed. BRP has a HUGE parts problem that they keep trying to blame on Covid from 2020.. yeah.. that excuse doesn't fly anymore. They really need to get there stuff together and figure this out. And also they need to do better quality control of the dealers that they allow to sell their product. I hear more bad than good stories.. which isn't a good look for Can am.
I want them to succeed and come out with better and more excited products, but I honestly feel like they can't get out of their own way right now. If they actually had competition in the 3 wheeled segment I think things would be a lot different.
Keep up the good work Coach Bob.

@@CoachBob3 It's really hit or miss in certain areas of the country. We've got one platinum dealer local to most of southern Mass and they get overwhelmed with the amount of work that comes in sometimes. They do great work, but it takes a while for them to get through the queue of bikes.

Coach bob this is how can am treats the customer. Last April my fuel gauge an engine temp light went out. My dealer figured out the part needed an ordered it. To this day it still has not come in back order after back order. No now I have a spyder rt that I have now idea how much fuel I have or temp of the engine. My dealer has worked hard to get this part an canam just blows them off I have never been able to get a person on the phone at can am. I would sell it but who’s going to buy it when nothing works I refuse to buy anymore can am products an I tell all my friends not too. They got our money and now we are nothing So I would think twice about who I represent with this type of customer service. I love your channel and will keep watching but I can’t trust anything you say about can am

If the dealer can't get it, and BRP doesn't have it. There has to be a wrecked Spyder sitting in a junkyard or somebody's backyard somewhere where the parts can be salvaged!
Are consumers going to have to buy 2 Can Ams? One for riding, the other for spare parts??

    Hello Coach,
My left cargo box broke this past July while hauling my 2020 RTL across I-10 in the great state of Louisiana in the rear of my Toy hauler! Anyhow, I ordered the part on or about July 15, 2023. I finally arrived at my doorstep on December 31, 2023. My dealer had ordered the same part. He told me that they would receive it before I got mine. Anyhow, it just doesn't make sense for BRP to not have parts on hand for these bikes.

I am happy that you where able to verify this info and put it on Utube...I love my machine ( Ryker) but security should be a priority for BRP , we all agree that these are great machine , but BRP need to up there game to satisfy there customers. ( I was really mad and found this dangerous getting stuck on a main bridge) when the pump failed last summer. Hopefully most of the pump will be available for all the ryker that need to be service properly and no accident happen. Everyone should be able to enjoy riding there machine safely and have fun. Hi Coach. Thanks for telling it like it is. For me, I LOVE my Spyder. And my dealer has been great so far, no complaints after 2 years. This spring will be a bigger maintenance job as new tires are going on all around, but I have no reason to believe they will do nothing but good. Loves Park Motorsports in Illinois.
What this does do, unfortunately, is cast some doubt on BRP’s commitment to customer service. I’ll be watching for any updates.

I really like my local dealer, and have purchased 3 RT-L from them. But, and there is always a but, support from BRP is sorely lacking. The recent drive pulley recall took 11 months to get a pulley. A radiator leak on Spyder number 2 was traced to a cracked overflow tank. BRP originally tried to deny repairs under the BEST warranty until management at the dealer intervened. I was still required to pay for coolant ( OK, I can see that) but the Oetiker clamps for the hoses as part of the repair were not covered. All in all, I'm still happy, but BRP is primarily where problems lie, and often the dealer is in the middle of the fight, and not our adversary.

Hi Coach Bob, I purchased my 23 F3 in August, and since I've always experienced strain on my back and shoulders from having short arms, I ordered and paid for the OEM alternate handlebars. I waited, and I called for weeks and finally, after a few months, got the bar from Lamonster in Missouri. They had them in stock, and I received my order within a few days. Luckily for me, it was an easy install because I'm not particularly mechanically inclined. I have a dealership credit because I figured I would be spending more money on it the next riding season. It wasn't the dealerships fault because CanAm's website showed that it was unavailable. This, coupled with your video, really concerns me about BRP's commitment to the customer. I do love this F3. It's way more fun than the traditional trikes I've owned in the past. At 70 years old, I doubt I will go back to two wheels, and I'm not ready to give up the joy of riding.

Having visited and seen the BRP assembly plant in Valcourt, Quebec, I can tell you that they cannot take parts off the assembly line. Every single part is VIN coded to a specific Spyder or F3. Can the wrong part be assembled? No. Transport trucks arrive each and every day with parts; they are each identified and cataloged and given their VIN. As the assembly line is set up, the parts then get distributed to the appropriate assembling station (for example, each engine arrives on a fully automated trolly at the precise time that its matching frame arrives at said station). Once the trolly reaches a station, a picture and specifications of that one model appears on computer screens. Tools are then automatically ajusted for the parts to be installed at that station; the workers cannot use the wrong tool or assemble the wrong part because everything is VIN coded. And what about the period where BRP was shipping Spyders and F3's to dealerships with missing electronics? (that was the case with my 2022 Sea-to-Sky) The reason was a lack of physical space to keep the vehicles and all their parts in Valcourt. When the missing parts arrived, BRP knew exactly which vehicle was missing which parts by their VIN and then shipped the parts to their dealerships for final installation. Spyders and F3's are assembled from December to May; there should be no problems in obtaining any parts anymore. Coach Bob is right; 7 months to wait for such an essential part is unacceptable. BRP needs better accountability from its parts suppliers and also better accountability from some of its dealerships. And BRP has to maintain a standard across the board in order to maintain customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. I have an excellent dealership (Groupe Contant in Beloeil, Quebec) that exceeded my expectations when I had my first accident and then my first blowout within the first month of my owning my Sea-to-Sky. They did it again this past summer with that cheap Chinese battery that simply died on me; no questions asked, they simply replaced it with another brand without issues.

Sometimes it's frustrating when I spent the $ to have to install lock on my mirrors of my 19 F3T and two separate times, hit a bump and both lense covers popped off and luckily didn't get ran over, but scuffed up. I've checked to see about a solution to this happening and zero recalls on the problem. I'm convinced it I hadn't put the locks on my mirrors, they'd been gone also this last vacation. Zip ties look ugly holding these mirror covers on, but dealer doesn't have a fix either.

Dont know much about the spyder parts but my rear end in my harley davidson trike had a defect n it took me 3 months to get it to the dealership n another month to get replaced There no excuse it took that long to get that part since they build that bike everyday. Take one off the asembly line n replace it later. Most companies just think sell the new bikes forget about the customers that already have the bikes.

The tranny part might be on back order for any length of time. It seems that it’s not a normal replacement part. That should trigger BRP to pull one off the production line and park the new bike prior to sale because it seems that the part is being produced as a Just in Time production which can be expensive to both BRP and the production team.
BRP Canada should have intervened after 30 days max, IMHO. Made a decision to pull the part off a production bike. Absorbed the cost on their end rather then push the cost to their customer

This was our thought exactly. The owner and I were hopeful that they would somehow pull one from assembly…that may even be what eventually happened. Honestly…We will never know the full story. I’m certainly not a nay naysayer.
In the end it all worked out and the owner is happy. And. We’re gonna go for a ride for lunch real soon. So I’m a winner as well.

The latch on my side bag broke on my 2021 RTL just weeks before warranty expired. The dealer was nice enough to accommodate work while I waited. However it took four trips to complete the job deal is 111 miles away. Yep we put some miles on! Dealer normally does not do work while the customer waits, so I’m thankful they accommodated me otherwise it would’ve been there almost 3 months in the shop. totally unacceptable, especially for something that doesn’t impede riding or create any safety concerns. BRP needs to work with dealers to create appointment based service on basic things. When you’re riding a 30k machine there should be higher expectations to keep you on the road.

Not parts but apparel. Ordered some apparel before Thanksgiving. The gloves came within a short period of time from a dealer in the middle of nowhere South Dakota. Sweat shirt and hat are supposed to be coming from New York dealership. The money was debited my account in early December as yet I've received nothing. A first email to them was answered that product would be shipped before Christmas. A second email to them has gone unanswered. The first email stated they were piecing the order together. What ever that means.
As i understand it, BRP doesnt have regional warehouses with a stock of parts. Instead, dealers are their parts warehouses. If a dealer needs a part, the nearest dealer having said item ships it.
This doesn't seem to be the most expeditious way to do business, although it is undoubtedly the cheapest.

@@CoachBob3 Received an email from the dealership this afternoon. They don't even have the merchandise. It is being shipped directly from Ski-doo of all places.
IMO this seems to be a poor way to do business. Advertise the product and then leave some poor dealership with filling the order and taking the ire of a customer (me) when they can't fill it.
I love my Spyder and pray nothing goes wrong with it and I get caught up in the mess of trying to get it repaired.

  • @jameslane4204
    @jameslane4204 6 місяців тому +3

Thought I would put this out there and see if you have heard of anyone else experiencing this issue. Late July to early August I went on a short trip with my son in Colorado on my new 2022 Sea to Sky. Climbing mountains after the bike had been ridden from Utah I started having intermittent stalls that from all indications seemed like the engine was not getting any fuel. I would pull off to the side of the road and a minute later the Spyder would restart. After cresting to top of the pass I experienced no more problems until the next day when we where climbing another mountain. Notably the outside temperature was in the 90's but the bike temp. was normal. Didn't experience the issue for the rest of the trip, I took the Spyder to my dealer in Salt Lake and the problem was diagnosed as boiling fuel. This diagnosis was several weeks in coming and BRP suggested the dealer replace the fuel pump and put an additional layer of insulation around the fuel tank to help deflect the heat being generated by the engine. The Spyder was dropped off in mid august and was not able to be picked up until late October because the delays with BRP and staffing at the dealership. I was in contact with the dealer and BRP after the first month which helped to get the ball rolling, but I believe this issue would have been resolved if BRP had not taken so long to diagnose the issue to begin with. We still don't know if the heat issue has been resolved as we have not been able to duplicate the extreme temperatures we had back in the summer. I will keep my fingers crossed that it has been resolved.
    Sincerely,
    Jim Lane

BRP is just guessing at the problem. "Boiling fuel" makes my BS meter peg. Going back in time 50 years to vapor lock problems of old tech carb equipped cars. I would perhaps consider a Can Am if not for all the horror stories about maintenance/repair problems at dealers and lack of parts and BRP help. I ride long trips and far away from home. Can't imagine the nightmare of a breakdown and having the kind of problems owners describe.

I owned two can am, 2015 and 2020. Two dealers in our area would not look at our recall, says that can am will not pay for inspections only replacement. After waiting over 1 year for parts we sold our bikes, if I could afford it they would be crushed. Can am wanted money when they were bought, why should I wait 1 year + for parts. BEWARE BUYING CAN AM.

My 2022 Spyder F3-S had the left mirror fall off mysteriously in my garage in 2022. At first I thought my wife must have bumped it. She swore she never touched it. I took it to my local BRP dealer and the service guys were skeptical that I didn't damage it. They inspected the mirror assembly and saw nothing wrong with the housing at all. Not a scratch. The machine was practically brand new then. I told them I found the mirror on my garage floor one morning as if it simply fell off on its own. The mirror is centrally mounted onto the housing on a ball pivot that has a single plastic post connecting to the mirror glass. That post was sheared off. I work for a company that does plastic injection molding. I showed it to our mold manager and he thought it looked like improperly molded plastic: either a short shot or wrong temperature or pressure. I told this to the dealer guys and they reported it to BRP as a warranty issue. I was waiting for a replacement assembly (you have to replace the entire mirror arm) for months when I finally got the original recall notice. I called up the dealer and laughed with them that I could finally prove I wasn't nuts (about this anyway).
The original recall came out earlier in 2023 and it only included the 2022 models, I believe. I see that they renewed the recall and added the 2023 models. I have two new mirror assemblies since last year. I don't know if they've updated the parts since then. I'm guessing they had to throw out an entire batch of improperly molded mirror assemblies.
I rode my Spyder for weeks without a left mirror. I got really used to doing head checks.

I have a Harley and last year the Speedo and tach and when it went out blew the battery fuse and I took it into the dealership in Dec and first time they told me the part had to be send out to get the mileage set when I called them in feb they told me ithey didn’t know when they would get it .they gave me the number to Harley customer service and they told me they would check it and get back to me . Two day later the dealership gave me a wand said it wouldn’t get it until April 28 . I leave Florida on that date . I trailer my bike back to Michigan, I told them to order me a new cluster with zero miles. The next day the called me and said they found a cluster that would fit my bike so I could ride it for bike week . They didn’t get the part until Dec . I ended up buying a new 2019 Tri Glide with Harley certified warranty, and I bought a three-year 36,000 mile warranty
