Luke, Cindy and I ordered and received this knife and, once again, you didn´t steer us wrong. We are avid campers and always carry an EDC knife everywhere we go even when not camping. This knife is everything you said it would be and our EDC knives are now this one. I am very impressed with the blade and once opened and locked (which is a lot of fun to do by itself) is really as firm as a rock with no wobble in the blade whatsoever. Kudos too to Petrified Fish. They contacted me via email the day after we received them to ask if we received them and what our opinion is of them. That impressed me given that in my experience that never happens when we buy anything from China. We thoroughly enjoy your channel and frequently temper certain things we look to purchase by your reviews. Thanks Luke! John and Cindy
More knife reviews! I'm a big knife nut and when I'm going to the outdoors i insist on a Cold Steel with Triad Lock. They're top of the line for strength, safety, and durability and they're much better priced than Benchmade and Spyderco. They're legitimately as strong as a fixed blade.
I can’t vouch for Cold Steel as I do not own any, but I have heard good things about them. I would agree that Benchmade is way overpriced and quality has diminished since they started, and Spyderco are overpriced but still quality blades.
G'day mate, ah yep, with ya on all points, ....... a small fixed blade at least ; ) . I do like a chunky monkey handle, i.e Gator Premo, Buck 110 and the like, though my Recon 1 drop point in S35 is easily my fav. Even though it is a "flat scaled" job, the ergos happen to suit my paw perfectly in hammer, choke up and reverse grips. In fairness, chest lever not so much, but still do-able. If I could have only one folder, the Recon 1 .... IS the one. Incidentally, CS does have a bad habit of putting thumb studs in the cutting/sharpening path. Have you found that ? Luckily on the Recon 1 it is quite far away from the edge and not so much of an issue, ........ but dont get me started on the Finnwolf ....... how to spoil an otherwise great little scandi folder. @@eyeofthetiger4184Ah man, if you want a folder with a big chonk grip you have to try the AD10. It's easily the most comfortable and ergonomic folder I've ever handled and it's better then all but the best fixed blade handles.
I'm a knife nerd who doesn't rabbit hole on it as hard as some do, but I will say the best value budget knives I've ever seen are right now. High end stuff from even 5-10 years ago is now on 25-50 dollar blades that if treated well will last you literal decades. Well made ball bearing pivots, high quality D2 or 14C28N steels, well made G10/Micarta handles, well designed carrying clips that don't destroy pockets over time, every style of blade you could want from wharncliffes to spear points. Good flippers, good jimping, good liner/frame/axis locks, no side to side play, well rounded scales that fit both hands and pockets well and all for the cost for a meal for two at a basic sit down restaurant. It's a golden age for well made budget pocket knives. I carry a Sitivien ST-139 and it blows the water out of the knives I was carrying in 2010 or 2014 or 2018 and it was like 30 bucks with awesome green micarta scales, something we used to have to pay extra for and put on our knives or actually fabricate ourselves. I have an old Kershaw skyline where I built the scales for that knife by hand. If you have not looked at updating your pocket knife in the last 5 years, go look. There's some amazing deals from China on budget steels that don't suck.
It's been pretty incredible seeing multiple chinese knife brands really mature and rise above the rest the last few years; many doing fully original designs now and even official collaborations with american designers. There's still plenty of crappy made in china gas station knives out there but now finding something exponentially better for the same price just takes a few minutes of research. People who are snooty about them tend to be jingoistic and just do not understand the skill and pride that goes into these knives now. Every nations' industrial base takes a generation or two to mature and start pumping out quality goods.
I have PF 719, and everything what Luke said stands. Very thin 12c27 blade, sharp as it gets, it doesn't hold an edge for a long, but returns to 100% in few strokes. Fit and finish, materials (micarta), action, at 80-90 percent of 300 to 500% more expensive knives.
Glowing review! It looks like a great knife, and cheap enough that even if it's not your EDC, having one to throw in your backpack, tackle box or glove compartment would be a good idea.
Hi Luke, just got mine yesterday. Can't believe it was under $35! Ordered one right after I seen your last video. Really liked the looks of it. Had never heard of these knives either. Thanks, glad I got it, seems very well made to me too. It's now my new EDC also. 👍🔪

Alot of Chinese made knives claim materials that arent there. I wonder if it’s actually D2 steel. I’ve purchased some that lied about the materials used. All of them claimed D2 and weren’t.
Great knife to throw in my emergency 2-3 day bug out bag....where I'm from, you learn fast how to grab a bag and book it somewhere safe away from barreling tornadoes. Mine is very robust in the fact it covers being caught outdoors. This blade looks like a great addition.
I would agree it is a good back up knife. But for a BOB I would recommend a fixed blade as a primary. In a real world emergency, folders could get gummed up with dirt, sand etc., and may not work/lock correctly.
@@Xeno-M. Yea I probably should have mentioned my primary is a Ka-bar strapped to the pack. This one is for small jobs like opening packages like fuel tabs and so on. I love my Ka-bar, but it's just overkill and clunky on that kind of stuff. A good small backup is a must.
I’d be interested to see when you test some more of these knives! I have purchased a couple myself on your review of the Bunta, I’m very happy with mine and carry it everyday since I got it. Thanks for making me aware of this company.
I recognized this knife in the last video :) I have it in a blue micarta. At this price, it's a fantastic knife. You have bold and solid piece D2, ball bearings so the knife runs very smoothly. Made incredibly precise. Every element and detail is polished. The blade profile is called sheep foot ;) it is good for cutting cardboard. But as a universal one it is average. In this category of knives, I prefer Tenacious. The Bunta is a great knife at a great price. worth having :) Best wishes Luke. You are great :)
love it.... I have the same knife and use it regularly in my wood shop and as an occasional EDC. Petrified Fish did good with this one! I like the heft, it feels solid in my hand. I tried to reverse the clip to 'leftie' but was unable to remove one of the screws in the original side. However, not a real problem for me. I've become a bit of a 'knife guy' due to the great items that Petrified Fish and the other companies are producing these days.
Ordered one up and will see how it is compared to my expensive Benchmade knives. I love the locks on the Benchmade and haven't found a replacement for my favorite 940. I have well over 100 pocketknives with about 1/3 of them safe queen collectables.
I purchased the black and green(micarta) blades. The company reached out and apologized that the green wasn’t actually micarta, so I got the G10s. Because the micarta was more expensive, they immediately reimbursed me the $2 difference. They were the ones to reach out to me and were super helpful. I appreciate that about a company. Thank you for the review, I can’t wait to get the knife
After watching your review I went to Amazon and bought 2 petrified fish knives. The 2CR13 liner ball bearing and a bunta. You seemed genuinely impressed with that bunta knife. So I’m gonna give them a try.
Sounds great, Luke... as I am currently looking for a successor for my current knife 🔪 your review and summary was very helpful for me 🙌 cheers from Germany, Tom
I have mine and I found the clip can be swapped over without removing the scales.Just undo the small torx head bolts , slide the clip out and refit. Cheers
Hi Luke, it seems ok, but its out of stock D2 steel is nice. I like My Kershaw Blur as an EDC knife. its a Ken Onion design and made in Merica. one of the few that walmart stocks but only in green I prefer the solid black model
Love the fact it's not spring assisted. Personally i find them harder for me to open and especially get closed again. How easy is it to close with just one hand? I don't think i saw you use just one hand.
That is a very good knife for the money. You should check out their Beluga model, it is also a very substantial but very good looking knife. The Blue and Brown Micarta models are my favorites.
I love my esee 6 and esee 3 blades. I haven’t seen you review any esee blades. They’re American (to the best of my knowledge) with a lifetime warranty (again, to the best of my knowledge). They’re full tang, I haven’t tried their flippers. Anyhow, just added this knife to my cart, I love this review. Thanks brother.
It’s in my cart. Thanks. I love and use knives a ton. I only go after good metal. Side note, if you want a good beanie get a Milwaukee. It’s so hot I can’t even wear it unless I’m on my motorcycle or close to zero f
I own PF Pub with green G10 scale. It's my first flipper and only flipper knife purchase so far. When I saw the review of that model on a small YT channel I immediately purchased it. The shape and form looked so sexy that I needed to have it in my pocket. It's big and heavy but who cares if you have sexy, razor sharp, with solid grip that handles well in my hand EDC knife that does the job.
I like the blade on that knife and I have probably 60 knives and most have a partial charaded blade and I have been looking for a knife with that kind of blade and it looks like the kind of blade you can split smaller pieces of wood with to start a fire with and I like a knife with some weight to it and like you I like the flip stud and quite a few of my knives have that and my firefighter knife was the first one to have that and I it more than the side stud flip.
My favorite knifes I buy are Mtech they are made in the USA stay sharp, and I carry them in my purse, camping van, backpack, and a neck knife! I probably own at least 10-12 different ones.
Hi Luke, looks amazing value! Good review. Ah have u still got your old wood cabin? The old shed made of black locus hard wood, loved the time u camped in there, the old cast iron wood stove was great! Would be a great episode to do a winter camp in there again! Was so cozy looking in there!
What are your thoughts on benchmade knives. I know they are not the most cost effective but I have found them to be very useful for sharpness that is held.
Good choice! China made knives have come a long way. The Petrified Fish brand is offered by both BladeHQ and Knifecenter here in the U.S.A. because of their quality. D2 is a Great steel budget or not. My most used, and abused knife of all time is a L.T. Wright Next Gen in D2. Carried it on my hip as a phone man for 12 years. Used it for everything. Enjoy that blade, and keep us aprised of your experience with it.
I think i have enough knives as it is I don't use, but do like it. I ordered one since one I have does not have bearings. I seen the review on this because I got a email from Friemaple. It had your links to the reviews you did on the gas lantern, and the stove never seen before saying how do they review their products. Did notice not the review you did on the stove heater they had someone else for that one.
I like a flipper too. The blade shape is really good for cutting food, bread, meat and other items. It is a thin blade, not a Scandi grind. I have viewed them on AMZ, many different designs. I may try a fixed blade as well as a folder. If one fails or it gets lost no big deal. I get BPS Ukrainian made fixed blades. Great value for a similar price. Of course I carry Benchmade and Buck most all the time. Tough with a price. Blade design contributes to the flip speed and ease. A front heavy blade works best, clip blades are on the light side and really not bushcraft suitable. Good review.
PF knives has been tested by many as being the more honest ones with their specs. When they list it as D2, they don't hoodwink customers with cheaper BS steels. They also don't try to be cute with gimmicky Axis or button locks. Most of their knives are build with tried and tested liner locks that are pretty well inset. I'm not paid by PF, just someone who has some experience with many China made brands. imo, they don't shell out money for marketing, so many do not hear of them, but they produce very high quality for a very fair price. Sitivien is another one.
Got my knife (PF818 with black stoned finish) from PF today and I'm actually blown away. Everything fits, the knife has a good weight to it and the action is smooth as can be. There is just one thing that rubs the wrong way... The name... Why Petrified Fish? That just doesn't sound good at all lol
Thank you, I appreciate hearing about good quality products that are affordable . I would like to here about american products, I live in the real world. Quality and value are critical
the D2 steel will hold an edge very well but it is extremely difficult to sharpen, due to the high Rockwell hardness. Normally, a stone will not suffice so the use of a diamond sharpener will be required - if it is truly D2 steel.
I would just be careful being casual around getting the blade in wet situations. D2 is not an extremely great corrosion resistant steel. I like to get them with a coating if I can if it will be in those kinds of conditions.
Can you close the blade single handed? You used both hands every time. I can guess it has a liner lock but are fingers strong enough to retract the spring on the non manual flipper?
I do not own this flipper knife. However I do own several from other brands an I can say with confidence that you Can close it with one hand. For whatever reason Luke did not. The only issue might be if the liner lock is stiff/sticking then it might be initially harder to slide the lock over and close it with the same hand. ( Can be fixed with some knife oil and repeated break in use).
P.S. Although the opening action seems as though there are springs involved, there aren’t any. Some knives are spring assisted, and unless new/stiff or the springs are rusted, one hand closing of those should not be a problem either.
What you said about US camping gear companies is just sad, Luke. It is ridiculous that companies here are only interested in making a quick buck that they would rather trick people into buying their inferior product once and risk their reputation forever. Glad to here you won’t give into their “Affiliate Program” game. Strength And Honor Luke. Hopefully you can find a few companies who put their products and the people they serve above profit. However it would seem, Not yet, Not yet. As for the knife review, I like it. I too have never heard of this company until now. The build seems solid and the D2 blade steel is not bad for the price point. Of course depending on what you want in a knife blade there are better steels that are more rust resistant/ hold an edge longer, however at a higher cost. I too also LOVE flipper tab knives !! I feel sorry for those who live in states that ban them. Once you’ve practiced in getting the action right, it almost looks as though you have a switchblade knife you are deploying, without the need for buttons and springs that classify those knives as banned weapons in many states. I also Love the modified sheepsfoot blade point, as it is very useful for a rescue knife to cut someone’s clothing away from them to treat a wound or to cut a seat belt. However the blade size is a bit too large for me to have as an edc in my state, (thankfully I found another knife that is similar and smaller for my edc). There is another Chinese Co that makes pretty good knives and has more selection/blade materials at a reasonable, albeit higher price point than this Co. called CIVIVI that I like. But for $35, you could get 2 of these for the cost of 1 of any other brand (or more), and not be too upset if you lost/broke one when camping or encountering any other misadventure. (Such as your aforementioned truck bumper/tree fight. Ouch !!)
You deployed that knife x34 in this video. That doesn’t count the additional x7 you can hear but not see the knife getting flipped open. That’s one deployment every :26 of the video. That’s impressive!
A knife review, nice. A bit different for the channel but welcome, I'll pass on the knife as I prefer to spend my money here.. Must be bright and sunny there😎 Thanks Luke, looking forward to more reviews.

Their knives are regularly out of stock. They have been reviewed quite a bit over the last two years in knife circles. They seem to run limited batches of knives which is normal for Chinese knife manufacturers like this.
Seems a bit heavy. My leather man bolster is 5.9 oz. I am looking for a bushcraft knife what would you recommend? I have heard good things about Mora, but i don’t know.
Any good buck knife flips open just as easily without a spring stud which only creates problems over time. I've got a German BOKER buck with interchangeable Knives. It wasn't 35 bucks but you get what you pay for especially with knives. 🕊️

im a kershaw cryo fan but i just bought this to try out. thanks for the knife review!
Sounds great, Luke... as I am currently looking for a successor for my current knife 🔪 your review and summary was very helpful for me 🙌 cheers from Germany, Tom
Like the Look. Blade is perfect for what I Will be using it for, just about everything, but never abusing it. Everyday carry, camping ECT.
Thanks Luke...nice sheepsfoot blade shape and good steel for $35. Will be interested to hear how the knife holds up over time and hard use!
I have mine and I found the clip can be swapped over without removing the scales.Just undo the small torx head bolts , slide the clip out and refit. Cheers
Nice review, Luke. I just ordered one of these based upon your review. Thanks!
Hi Luke, it seems ok, but its out of stock D2 steel is nice. I like My Kershaw Blur as an EDC knife. its a Ken Onion design and made in Merica. one of the few that walmart stocks but only in green I prefer the solid black model
Mine is coming today.. very excited
I have several kerschaws that size, but this one looks very functional.
I’ve been on the QSP side.. they come so well done and cost like $30-$60
I still gotta try PF, hear nothing but good stuff about them.
Hi Luke!: That's a pretty sweet knife! Pretty darn good value for the money!
Just snagged one on a lightning sale on Amazon for $26 can't wait for it to get here!
Good for you Luke, very nice knife. Dave & The Girls
Thanks for the review. I’ve seen them on blade HQ but didn’t know anything about them
Good choice!
Mike is awesome.
Picked up the Petrified Fish Viking in Green Micarta.
Really enjoying this blade as an EDC.
That is one good looking knife. The Warrior is very nice too.
I wonder if that company is related to Ruike. That company also made some really nice and affordable knives.
Maybe they use the same workshops.
Just ordered one, thanks, Luke.
Hey Luke i love that fleece you have on in this video, can i ask what its called or where its from please? Thanks
For similar high quality budget knives I would also check out Civivi, Kizer, Penguin, CJRB.
This knife looks similar to Kubey knives, of which I own several. D2 steel tunes up nicely on the bottom of a ceramic mug....yep, try it.
Have ever thought about doing a review of the two story The Dooken hot tent. I seen it on Baum outdoors and looked very interesting
Sold out on Amazon but available apparently on their website.
Hello hope all is well, quick question. Why havent you did any videos on 5.11 tactical packs? Just wondering have a good one!
For me civivi is my new goto for a inexpensive awesome made knife. I got one for free with my bladehq order and i have about 6 more ive bought since.
Its called fatwood, the thick resin found permeating pine or cedar, firs in deadfall, easy fire start.
Daily carrier? We are not allowed to carry knife up here in Norway.
Yeah they are awesome for the money
That’s impressive!
and also take a shot every rime he says "35 bucks" . I ain't paying for ur coffin :)
A knife review, nice. A bit different for the channel but welcome, I'll pass on the knife as I prefer to spend my money here.. Must be bright and sunny there😎 Thanks Luke, looking forward to more reviews.
Ever notice that the best way to ensure a manufacturer is out of stock is to have Luke do a review? 8000 plus views in 5 hours, and the knives are all gone. :-) I think many people count on these reviews - like me. Thanks, Luke, for the content. I will wait for the knife...
Their knives are regularly out of stock. They have been reviewed quite a bit over the last two years in knife circles. They seem to run limited batches of knives which is normal for Chinese knife manufacturers like this.
Available on Petrified Fish website
Seems a bit heavy. My leather man bolster is 5.9 oz.
I am looking for a bushcraft knife what would you recommend? I have heard good things about Mora, but i don’t know.
David Canterbury's today video may help.
Any good buck knife flips open just as easily without a spring stud which only creates problems over time. I've got a German BOKER buck with interchangeable Knives. It wasn't 35 bucks but you get what you pay for especially with knives. 🕊️
Great review, once again the product sold out like hot cakes on a cold NY morning.
I like the BULUGA fixed blade
Seems like after your review they have sold out of this particular model :)
Am I mistaken, or does this not exist on Amazon?
i'm glad i didn't have to take a shot every time he flicked it open. LOL
The link you put up on for your knife does not bring me there
yo Luke, your bad for my wallet!!! I've bought a litefighter 1 ocp with cold pack, I've bought onetigris and now I've bought this knife off Ali express 23 dollars!!!! £27 in Scotland!!! Big up!!!
Awesome review I now want one 😂
Luv your videos and appreciate them but when it comes to knives spyderco, old American gerber and k bar for me.😊
You are too popular Luke, they are already sold out of that model! I am always looking for the 'perfect' EDC knife. Will keep this one back of mind until it comes available again.
Take a drink every time Luke snaps the knife open.
It's NOT BUDGET FRIENDLY. But have you tried the Usa made BenchMade TaggedOut? btw Petrified Fish makes great knives for the money.
on Aliexpress also i got mine last year
Yup, Petrified Fish make really good flippers.
Ruike is another brand to check out
