hi Julia, I am Peg, Matt's mom. Matt is owner operator of Stuttering King Bakery in Scottsdale AZ The one fun thing I get to do is decorate cookies. Your videos are suburb. These are a great addition to Matt's bakery. your detail is so delightful thanks so much for the detail. Matt is an autistic baker and trying to make it on his own. Thanks so much for your detailed instructions. Any help is so appreciated@
I'm in my first week of baking class and I am loving it. When I get stuck on something I tend to come on UA-cam for help and your videos are the only ones that are helping me. I just subscribed to your channel. You are really good, it must have been hard work to get this far. Congrats, I'm not giving up either. :)
Hi Julia! I study English and, in the search for some English teaching channels, by pure accident, come to your cannel on the UA-cam. :) Your cookieart is magical! I am sitting in my chair and looking at your great skill until two hours:))). Thank you very much for the excellent time spent and good luck with your amazing art!
since moving to Baja Mexico I have just started making cookies and decorating them but i had some troubles. your Video is very informative. cant wait to watch your other videos...please keep them coming !!!!
I am soo glad I found this video! Julia, you are a woman after my own heart. Who knew you could do this?! I will be trying this in the next couple of weeks to make favors for my daughter's 5th birthday party! Thank you sooo much!
I just want to say, I have been watching you for as long as I can remember. You are amazing! I love your work space, your work is beautiful, and you communicate so well. It is easy for me to follow along and learn from you and I've learned a lot! I love all of your content!
I found your channel yesterday and I've seeing your videos non stop since then. OMG! you have such an amazing talent and technique! I love your work! beautiful... Your work with the cookies is incredible but I am mesmerized by the chocolate dollies... Congrats!!
Hi Julia!! I just find your videos on UA-cam and I love it so much!! Your passion and details of each project that you create is amazing!! I just bought your ultimate cookies book because I'm in love with your cookies decorating techniques and I try to learn makes this cookies. I'm your new fan!!
+Julia M Usher Thanks for respond to my comment!! I admire all your works. Do you have a video or a set of videos for beginners. Where I buy the needles that you use in your videos for fix the icing?
Hey Julia! I haven't been to your Facebook page lately but happily ran across your videos & promptly subscribed, I happened on yours after watching someone Else's video on stenciling snowflake cookies, and another one on getting the embroidery affect. (I have tried this once before on a fondant owl pressed in a candy mold, I've seen better! LOL! ( I fell in love with snowflakes for Christmas decorating @3 years ago, made from all kinds of stuff) My next project is doing an embroidery sampler of all differently designed snowflakes. I have just about amassed my collection to transfer, and have decided to do different sizes as well.Back @20 years ago I was decorating wood and plaster heart shaped items (skinny candle holders & Mother's day paper weight gifts) in a similar style as how you decorate cookies but with Little beads of acrylic paint,I found using a toothpick made the best dots without peaks. Anyhoo, my question after watching both yours and the other persons videos, is this: When diluting the royal icing for the different types of applications one does, which is better to use for thinning: Vodka or Water ? I noticed you used water but the other person used vodka and I have seen other things made that were also diluted with vodka. Since it is not cooked I wonder if it still has an alcohol content that would/could be harmful to children? BTW: I added several cookie cutters to my growing collection of vintage & new approx. 2 years ago, with a few beautiful snowflake designs from Bed,Bath & Beyond when my daughter worked there and I got a nice discount. Can't wait to use them.Due to health issues I haven't been able to bake for a few years, hopefully I will again be able to after I get fixed! Thank you for all the wonderful videos you have made giving me lots to fill my head with for when I can once again bake!
Thank you Julia, for taking the time to answer me. I know you are a super busy woman, probably even more so with the big holidays fast approaching, so I really do appreciate that you were kind enough to take a few minutes to help me. Watching people like you gives me inspiration to look forward to being able to be creative again. If I ever get to make my snowflake cookies I will send you a picture of them, you will be able to appreciate what a monumental feat it would have been for me. Thanks again, and you and your family have a wonderful holiday season ! Michelle
Julia you're the best! I'm new to decorating my baked goods and your videos are awesome and well detailed. This is important to me as I'm also an educator and believe in being very specific. Do you have any tips on getting a nice, flat, perfectly shaped cookie such as the ones you work with? Thank you so much for generously sharing your wealth of knowledge with the rest of us. Merry Christmas!
How do you store left over icing and for how long can it be stored? This is very important point that I have not heard you touch upon. Grateful for a quick response. Thank you.
Julia M Usher Thank you so much for your quick response. I’ll definitely do that, and thank you for all the fantastic videos. I have learned a lot. God bless!
Tengo una duda... los portarretratos que están sobre la mesa, también son de galletitas...? I have a question ... the frames that are on the table, are also cookies...?
I love everything you do with cookies. It takes talent to do what you do, but a gift to make it look easy😊 I wonder if you could a tutorial on making a cookie bouquet?
Hi, while doing the icing won't the cookies loose their crispiness due to keeping it open for a longer time. How can we keep the top coat to dry?Should we keep it in an air tight container or open on the counter top?Thank you.
Julia I’m doing monogram cookies for my grandsons wedding. I am planning on using fondant as my base and Royal to stencil. And recommendations to keep it clean stencil affect? Love love your work.
I ran across this video. My children love to bake and decorate their goodies. I was wondering a couple of things, one is do you have videos up for your cookie dough, and 2 what is the cheapest way to build a collection of tools? Our house burnt back at the end of January and all of my tools and bake ware was destroyed so I'm having to build from scratch.
I've been wondering what would you suggest for putting a lettered logo onto a cookie? I want NSCDA (National Society of Colonial Dames in America) on some cookies. Would making a stencil work best? Or how else could it be done? Just found your site and have become mesmerized with your talent! Thanks so much
your cookies and designs are so beautiful, are they edible or just for show, also how long does it generally take for royal icing to harden, and the paint brush you use for the fill I know its a unused one do you just cut the bristles off thanks I just made my first batch of royal icing last night and did some decorating on Christmas cookies they was not the prettiest but this was my very first time decorating and iwas using the bottles for icing, glad I know the parchment cones now gonna try it later
It does I got some dough chilling right now and some royal icing made and in the fridge (covered with plastic wrap and have it pushed down to where no air is touching the icing. I'm looking forward to using the parchment cones tomorrow and doing some of your designs
Just a thought, I've never tried this, but ... Would you be able to tape down (or use stiff royal icing on the back of the cookie) the stencil and cookie to the countertop? I guess to keep the stencil as flat as possible. Just a thought, maybe it can help.
***** I'm going to take your advice since obviously it works lovely. You're so talented and your videos have become a sort of therapy to me. I actually made cookies today for my first time and they came out ok however the icing cracked. Is there a way I can show you the cookies maybe you can help me as to why the icing would crack?
I actually did move them bc I rearranged them to make more space (as I have very limited space) I've watched SO many of your videos you're a true inspiration. I hope I can one day make one of your cookies!
If you are just doing round, straight lines and flooding, it's easier as far as I'm concerned, as you have no bags to clean and no plastic to discard (better for the environment). When doing textured effects with thicker icing, I use tips, of course. I discuss the pros/cons of parchment cones in my video about how to make them, so you may want to look at that video for more info.
Yes I was I was wanting to make biscuits From watching your monogram cookies you airbrushed then added patterns with royal icing Your amazing I can't believe your replying back to me
Oh, so glad to have you here. My second book, Ultimate Cookies, is a cookie decorating book; the other book is more of a cookie party and recipe book. But, both books are out of print, so you are unlikely to be able to find them except used at very high prices. Your best bet would be the ebooks which can be found on Amazon. Thanks for your interest and for joining me here!
I would put something that levels with the cookie use a pushpin in the hole of the stencil...use both my hands to hold and guide with icing..bot hold the ice pick thingy
I love your videos, its amazing the things you do! I was wondering if you can freeze the cookies and if so for up to how long? Thank you for sharing your amazing work!

***** Thank you dear. i will try.
Nota mil ! Admiro muito o seu trabalho !
beautiful lady with beautiful work..tq for sharing..
Hello, just wondering, using a piping bag . Is it easy. Than using a couple and piping tips?
If you are just doing round, straight lines and flooding, it's easier as far as I'm concerned, as you have no bags to clean and no plastic to discard (better for the environment). When doing textured effects with thicker icing, I use tips, of course. I discuss the pros/cons of parchment cones in my video about how to make them, so you may want to look at that video for more info.
Excellent teaching videos. I can't wait to watch more!
Belíssima arte!
I would love to know where you acquired the stenciling shown on the cookies in the beginning of this video; the "has arrived".
Wow! I didnt know that exist someting like the, these kind of cookies... wery beutiful and creative... thnks. And it isn't so dificult.
Hi
I love your work
I don't use any alcohol based food colours
Can you please recommend any other way to airbrush with colours?

I was under the impression you add colour and alcohol to get the colour to set quicker
Yes I was
I was wanting to make biscuits
From watching your monogram cookies you airbrushed then added patterns with royal icing
Your amazing
I can't believe your replying back to me
Your very sweet to reply back

And thank you again 😊

What is the recipe for the icing?
I just found your channel, love it! Many years ago I decorated cakes, now moving on the cookies. Which of your books do you recommend?
Oh, so glad to have you here. My second book, Ultimate Cookies, is a cookie decorating book; the other book is more of a cookie party and recipe book. i made some cookies and the color red was bleeding onto the white, i waited all night for the red to dry, any ideas why this happened?
love the cookie necklace!
Well I am eager to try a lot of your ideas, I was considering making a few not even for eating but as decorations or ornaments for my tree..
I would put something that levels with the cookie use a pushpin in the hole of the stencil...use both my hands to hold and guide with icing..bot hold the ice pick thingy
wonderful
I love your videos, its amazing the things you do! I was wondering if you can freeze the cookies and if so for up to how long? Thank you for sharing your amazing work!
Thank you so much for your answer!
Your cookies are too beautiful, i don't know if i would be able to eat them D: i would feel i'm runing people's art work, congratulations!!
That's a lot of work for a cookie. How much would a dozen be?
You amaze me!
Are your cookies edible? It seems you use them more for show?
What does the glue mean.
Hi. Your videos are beautiful.
I would like to buy some stencils, but I live in Brazil. Please send me the address where I can buy.
Thank you
What is glue? It’s cookie talk and im a beginner. You mention the ratio of water to the glue but what is the glue? Do you mean icing sugar?
I mean my thick royal icing, as it comes off the mixer. It's very thick so it dries very fast, which is why I use it for "glue" for assembling 3-D cookies. You'll see all of my typical consistency adjustments in my royal icing recipe, a link to which is in the video description under the video. Happy decorating!
Where can I find your recipe
Hi Julia am a huuuuge fan 😊 I need your help with royal icing transfers do u have an online recipe that I can use ? Note that I use the wilton meringue powder. Am having trouble in transferring delicate butterflies, In a batch if 10 3 might make it 😔 though I do let them dry 24 - 48 hrs just to let u know I do live in Dubai where it's hot n humid here but with the air conditioning I think it's ok but will this weather affect the outcome drastically ? Julia M Usher Thank you!
