    coming back from work after a hectic day I suddenly had this craving for fried rice & came across Marion's recipes. I have tried 10+ fried rice recipes and this is by far my absolute favorite! The combination of basil and fish source adds such a unique dimension of flavor to the fried rice, and the chili gives the rice a really nice kick. I literally devoured it in less than 5 mins! Thank you Marion for making my life so flavorful.

    Tip, if you don't have the time to make a day old rice, try cooking basmati rice with 1 or 2 tbsps less water required and it's life changing. You don't get the starchy clumps and it's just so fluffy and it's easy to stir.

    • @keepcalmlovedinosaurs8934
      @keepcalmlovedinosaurs8934 5 років тому

      I use a similar technique. Plus I add distilled vinegar to dissolve the starch.

      @@siva992 Vinegar won't radically spoil the taste of the rice, so as you use like a teaspoon amount. Also you can mask the essence by adding a clove of garlic, or piece of ginger or lemon grass while you boil the rice. It depends on what you serve it with.

    Hi, Marion!! I tried your fried rice today and let me tell you, I was blown away!!! I tried following some other recipe and failed BIG time and I was hesitant to try yours but it was so good! I think I need to work on the ratio of the condiments since the color was a little off but it was good! I'd go with six or seven chilles instead of four but other then that -- thank you so much!!!

  • @suchartboontid2560

    Made this yesterday. The end result was addictively delicious. I added a bit of dark soy sauce (which is made from mostly molasses) instead of sugar so mine was super dark but still looked great and shiny and delicious. Forgot to fry the egg first and use the same oil for the rice so I had to use more oil, damn it! Also, don't stir-fry it too long after you put the basil in or the aroma would be less potent, and accompany this with a glass of refreshing coke. 10/10 best home-made meal ever.

Next time I would add even more birds eye chilie, as like Marion I love hot and spicy!

    OMG I love Thai Basil Rice...I have since childhood. Only difference is I am now vegetarian. I used all the same stuff except chicken( used regular chilli powder flakes, and regular basil) and follow the instruction. I do not like egg so I omitted. Throughly yummy. I paired with crispy tofu. Cut n slice extra firm tofu into triangle, salt and fry for 2 min. Wala! Wish I had a picture. I am making another batch because I am going to meal prep it 🙈🐵

    Marion ... how you eat this with 6 Birdseye chillies I don’t know ... I used 1 larger chilli and that made me cough and eyes water. However, despite replacing basil with mushrooms and capsicum as no fresh basil of any sort, it was DELICIOUS.... and you are so right about the crispy egg making it ... I was dubious, but 100% won over. Love your videos and recipes (and Mama Nois too) keep them coming.
