Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson’s solo work are a treasure chest with no bottom to it. Check out the title track of the Album ‘Fear of a blank planet’. Written 17 years ago and yet sadly still sooo relevant.

Those voices inside our heads can be powerful influencers. My stepbrother gave in to them and I never even knew anything was wrong until it is too late. I don't know what I could've said to him that would be of any help, but I could at least listen ... I just feel like he had nobody to talk to. For anybody that is reading this that might be struggling, please talk to someone if you can. It might not make you feel better immediately but I believe having someone at least listen and understand what you are going through can help . ❤

Oh, my ❤ hurts for anyone who feels like they are searching for a way out. PLEASE PLEASE don't.. come thru to the other side. I try to image the depths of pain.. I've never felt, only but once. There are a few scenarios I have imagined, they horrifing to even think abt, let alone live. Take care of the ones you love. Ask the hard questions.. ❤ and ✌️

This was lovely and sad and familiar, I'm sure, to most of us. Most of us have probably gone through periods like this and they helped us grow. but, I have to say, I'm darn glad they're over.

Thank you Tommy! I very much appreciate your reaction and your thougths.
This song always brings me back to my teenage years. I felt miserable most of the time, when I look back all I see is darkness... and I was always longing for an escape of some sorts... Luckily I made it through. And now I think of my kids, and all the emotions they are about to experience. I hope I can be there for them when they need me the most.
    Much love!

porcupine tree and steven wilson are some of the gems i've found through reaction channels. all of his music is deep, emotional and i was in 'fear' what to expect here.
    [Verse 1]
    Out at the train tracks
    I dream of escape
But a song comes onto my iPod
And I realize it's getting late
And I can't take the staring and the sympathy
And I don't like the questions:
"How do you feel?", "How's it going in school?"
"Do you want to talk about it?"
    [Instrumental Break]
    [Chorus]
    Way out
    Way out of here
    Fade out
    Fade out, vanish
    [Verse 2]
And I'll try to forget you
And I know that I will
    In a thousand years
    Or maybe a week
    I'll burn all your pictures
    Cut out your face
And the shutters are down and the curtains are closed
    And I've covered my tracks
    Disposed of the car
And I'll try to forget even your name
And the way that you look
    When you're sleeping
    Dreaming of this
    [Chorus]
    Way out
    Way out of here
    Fade out
    Fade out, vanish
    [Instrumental Break/Guitar Solo 03:30-05:41]
    [Chorus]
    Way out
    Way out of here
    Fade out
    Fade out, vanish
    [Instrumental Outro]
to your thoughts, this kind of small talk is something very us-american. no one is really interested into a honest answer. "how are you doing? oh, i'm feeling shitty, i had...... oh, sorry to hear, i have to go, appointments, you know....."
sometimes nothing needs to be said. sit together in silence. make a tea, get some chocolate is often more important.

Hi Tommy.. what I like about about this channel is the way we can share and let you unburden your sorrows so that, as the saying goes, a trouble shared is a trouble halved.... The guy that Steven Wilson uses for their videos is something else. I find it amazing that the parents of the girl the song was about were at a PT concert a couple of years later and Steven dedicated the girls favourite song to her. Steven is a special person and he just so self deprecating about it. Keep on Rocking.

This had a really good sound to it. The synth in the beginning was cool. I don't know much about this band, but going off this song, they sound alot like "The Cure." Which is a big compliment.

Thanks for this one! The lyrical power of this song, and the entire 'Fear of a Blank Planet' album, hits us all as filtered by our own personal experiences. Steven Wilson is such a powerful composer. I'd suggest watching the live version from Holland. The musicality of that performance will blow you away, especially Gavin Harrison's drumming. It's worth a look.

Great song from my fav Porcupine Tree Album! The music video is also pretty fitting, however it cuts the last three minutes of the studio version which includes a surprisingly heavy section. Thats why Ive always enjoyed the studio or live version more.
