  • Hey guys in this lesson we are going to talk about the fastest way possible to transform your impact position!
All we need to focus on is our lead forearm and lead hand rotating in the release to achieve a tour like impact position.
This motion is called supination! Every single golfer on the PGA Tour has some amount of supination, so if we early release
and scoop at impact. We must add supination to our golf release.

Hi Kevin, it seems like this drill is going through extreme measures to keep the left wrist from moving into extension. Are you advocating NOT breaking down the left wrist? Or just delaying the left wrist extension until the right arm is parallel after impact(P9)? Thanks in advance

In relation to the left hand where in the downswing do you begin supination move?
Is it just after l hand passes right thigh?

  • @brucerussell5469

slo mo video shows us that just as the butt end of the club comes in front of the right hip the handle changes direction as the club is released...as it takes some milliseconds for instructions from the brain to reach the hands at what point do I tell my hands to release as I am certain that waiting until the handles reaches the point of reversal will most certainly be too late...so at what point in the downswing should I begin this change and is it a hands only move?...thanks, Bruce

I can understand doing this with a neutral or weak grip. But this is death with a strong grip. Any suggestions? or videos?

Nice something really relevant to me Kev.
Trying to get rid of my driver fade, push slice. But when I increase supination I lose a lot of speed and it takes huge exaggeration of feel to even get a draw - as if my left hand palm faces the sky at impact, which feels weak and slow.
Right now to get a straight flight I need to really feel head stays back, arms and clubs throws past my body. But I draw my 3w from the tee and irons are fine. Only driver fades and slices.
So the loss of speed / distance concentrating on supination discourages me, what am I missing?

Honestly the supination piece should help us speed up the club, so there has to be an issue with the other parts of your golf swing. It’s hard to be certain without myself taking a look at your golf swing. If you’re interested in a free swing analysis please let me know! I will take a close look and tell you what’s going on and how to fix those problems 👍🏼

@@kevinhwangjr Wholeheartedly agree with you, the need to see video of my swing. Guess at some stage I will 😁
About the "loss of speed" perhaps it's a perception of loss of strength in the swing. Didn't measure the speed. For sure my swing feels "powerful" not effortless power.
Was hitting a warm up bucket before my round yesterday and used perhaps 10 balls to work on a concept that came to me from your video, which allowed me to hit low hooks and by pushing the path out was able to hit 2 nice mid traj push draws. Had to go out & shoot a good score (low 80s) so didn't dare try to work on it more, my sole attempt on the course was a straight hook. Being in the middle of 2 swings isn't great for scoring so i shot 41/48 with a triple & a quad. My irons are pretty much dead straight and I can fade it to remove some yards - attempts to draw only cause pulls or even slices. With the new swing/concept I can consistently hook it - which I think is a step in the right direction.
Can't wait to work on it on the range, have a round at a really nice course mid-week and I wanna have a good swing to use.
Will keep you updated. Thanks again Kevin!

    Hi kevin ,
I have a problem with getting a bit hookey with my 5i and 6i .
I have no problem with woods or driver or 8i down . I dont carry a 7i as it doesnt fit , i carry an 8 about 140 and a 6 about 150 , i seem to have a problem getting the face open enough on the longer irons and can only get a pure strike taking away what feels outside the line and coming down into the ball quite steep so i get a very low flight , even though im getting the compression its not getting a chance to hang time .
If i open a bit and get more height its going long turning left and running left .
What one or series of videos will possibly help me ?
Im 55 but strong and pretty agile but im not super flexy anymore .

I would be interested kevin , thanks for the offer .
I had a brainwave last night and think ive been holding my left wrist more cupped lately as ive been practicing a lot of 120 in accuracy , im going to see if thats what causing the rapid closing of the face .
Great for higher stoppy shots but maybe ive carried it into my longer irons .
Let me know whats required for an analysis 👍

But how about "body release" vs "hand release" ...?

    • @kevinhwangjr
      @kevinhwangjr  9 місяців тому +2

I will try to touch up on this topic moving on in the future! But for a short answer a stable body release sounds great but in my opinion we can’t just magically square up the club with our bodies pivot. We have to use both our body and our hands at the same time 👍🏼
