Thanks for this, it really helped plan my pulley system. I noticed you have one end of your pulley rope tied to the same stationary (top) pulley. I found it could bind the rope in the pulley so I tied that end of the rope to a second carabiner. This also distributes the load a little on the angle iron. The only issue I have is the polypropylene rope hopelessly wants to twist the two load parts of the rope. Super annoying. I'm still trying to find a better way to tie the tire to the load hook.

@@maxdiver9038 Okay, I know I don't know a lot about rope. The first rope I was using was twisted polypropylene rope which I have since learned is quite inappropriate for pulley systems. According to what I have read, it does not withstand abrasion in pulley systems very well, and twisted rope will twist when a load is applied. So I purchased a nylon solid braid. I have discovered this, too, is twisting with a load. Is this a bad rope, (yes, see next reply) or do I have more to learn (yes, see next reply)?
This may help others when choosing rope: I went to a rope and rescue store. They sold me a 3/8" polyester diamond braid rope, which solved the twisting problem. Note: both twisted and solid braid ropes have twists in them which will cause any load to start spinning. Diamond braid won't cause spinning. Polyester has less stretch, which is good for hoisting, but don't let the load jerk on the rope. Polyester resists abrasion better than other materials, so is ideal for pulley systems. The only issue I have is that the 3/8" polyester rope is not as smooth as the other materials, and tends to hand up in the ratchet pulley. I might try the 1/2" ratchet pulley, but it's not that big of a deal.

Last weekend I twisted my ankle lifting the summer tires 🛞 after installing the winter tires. I felt from the ladder.

Thank you for watching! I would go at least a full tire width from the rack to make sure tire will not be catching on it. The tie down needs to be long enough to go around your tire through the rim holes and loop up to the hook.

where can one find the LOCKING pully lifter racket mech --- I Stack mine vertically (on top of each other) flat against a wall (BEHIND A DOOR) - between vertical wall studs - need help lifting top two tires to put into place - 18" tire/wheels (snow or summer depending) too SHORT to reach top 3rd tire safely and way to sort to life overhead and place top tire - THX

Just curious what gauge of angle did you use. I can get 0.074" x 48" galvanized steel angle at Home Depot but can find anything heavier
I decided to just go ahead and double up the angle to increase the loading carrying capacity. The angle is cheap especially given that it will save my back!

Hi! Thank you for this vid… I’m struggling to get my tires up on my own. What kind of strap are you using to wrap through the tire to secure when pulling up and where did you get it from?
Thank you for watching! I just made a loop from the rope, same rope I using for the pulley. Make a loop long enough so it can go through the wheel holes around the tire and go on the hook from both sides. Please let me know if you need any pictures.
What strap have you use for tire lift? I was able to get ratchet , pulley and others except the tire insert strap. Can you please share a pictuee

Hi I bought the ratcheting pulley from Amazon but this can not lift my tire alone. I see u mention another pulley. Do I need that ? What’s the purpose of the other pulley ?
Thank you for watching! Yes you definitely need second pulley to make system work, pulley helps to reduce the effort you need to pull it up and to return rope to you. The minimum number of pulleys for this kind a system is two. Please see pictures attached in the description of the video on how to route the rope through two pulley system.
Hi Max, I did the same set up but I when pulling up I have to use so much force. In your video it seems like you are doing it so easily. I am just wondering if I passed the rope incorrectly. Can you please guide me to do the correct roping?

The rope tight at the top shackle, then going down through the bottom locking pulley, you need to pay attention to where rope enter feed rope and exit out position, it should be marked on the pulley. @@maxdiver9038 thankyou so much for taking time to answer my question. Really appreciate. I compared this with my own set up and it was correct. But there is two difference i noticed. First thing the pulley i using is 1/2”, next thing the rope I using is a thin poly rope. May be those are affecting the amount of force I have to apply to lift!!
@@jithinjoseph4655 the bigger diameter of the pulley easier to pull and rope also will play a role.
This block and tackle pulley system will give a mechanical advantage of 2. If your wheel weighs 80 lbs, you are still lifting 40. You could use a more complicated pulley system but you would need much more rope, and it will take more pulls to lift the tires.
Did you remover the locking mechanism to drill the hole?
Initially I was planning to remove it, but pulley is pressed together. I mount the whole pulley in the soft grip wise, insert a piece of something that will press to the locking mechanism so I can drill it perpendicularly. The metal is very soft and easy to drill. what is the size of the pulley and rope?
Rope is about 7-8 mm, the pulley is slightly bigger to accommodate the rope. My rope criteria was low memory and soft. When buying rope look at the load capacity to make sure it is higher then weight of your tire. Thank you for watching!

What length rope did you buy to make this work? The 8' in the package doesn't seem long enough.
You need at least three times of you garage height, I would add extra 10 ft to it to be able to stand away from the load.
