What do you do for a living? Figuring the angles and making it match up nice. I love the separated work spaces in the garage! I have a 4 bay that I do not park in. Half is for woodworking that I picked up because of the garage. The rest is storage. Always looking for better ways to set it up . Great ideas. I will look at more videos

Cheers mate! I’ve done some work in joinery and cabinet making in the past which comes in handy.
Sounds like you’ve got a decent setup yourself!
      Thanks for the support! Enjoy!

Nice job, and well thought out. I’m surfing for ideas. I’m pondering having a winch because some wheels are really heavy, and I’m thinking if there’s going to be a problem its getting them up or taking them down. Of course the rack needs to be able to take the weight. I’m looking at 8 tyres on rims, so… gotta be 35kg x number of tyres. At first I thought you had overkill, but not really! Nice work.

Oh yer, you’ll definitely need something to help lift those up. Maybe you could rig something up with a block and tackle mounted up high or something.

What about tires without rims, brand new. How to you recommend to store them? Currently i have them leaning against a wall. For the last 30 days

I suppose you could do the same thing, just wouldn’t need to be as strong because it’s much lighter. Or even something as simple as a bit of timber to thread through the center of all the tyres and suspend it up from a chain or a couple of ratchet straps just to get them out the way.

Of course, a guy has to be pretty strong to make use of such a rack. The wheel-tire sets for my pickup weight 77 lbs (35 kg) each, so I'm building a shelf that will fit behind the garage door roll-up track and carry the wheels flat against the wall, end-to-end, so to speak. It will be 33" (83 cm) from the ceiling, 12" (30 cm) wide, and 12' (~3.7 m) long. I'll cant it upward from the wall just a few degrees to ensure the wheels lean into the wall instead of away, and it'll have a chock at the free end. The issue will be lifting each one to the free end, but I have good neighbors to help with that. Once I manage to do that, I'll simply roll each one down the shelf into place and chock the last one so they don't roll off.

Yer that’ll be a decent lift to carry those up there! Good luck! Let me know how you go.

@@_HACtv_ I'll be enlisting a helper to get them up there, for sure.

Looking to do something like this.... do you think using a 2x6, or 2x8 for the front cross-member would work, instead of doubling them up to mount the wall brace?
Also, how far off the wall does this come out?

Hey mate! It will depend on how far you’re planning on spanning(how many wheels) .. the main issue is flex. Could always add an additional member in the middle to stop if from flexing out when there is weight on it. If it looks like it needs it. But I think you’ll be right.
And it’ll come out as deep as your wheel size.

Roughly, how many 2x4s did you use? I know it will change with tire size but this will give me a rough idea of how many I need to start with.

I think I used about x2 3m/9ft lengths with some off cut left over
