Great to hear from AB and see he is looking after himself! Can we also take a moment to appreciate Mark Howard as a presenter, he wears so many hats in the media but the way he graciously navigates a conversation like this you can tell how much he genuinely cares for people!
He showed great respect to AB
Oh yeah Howie was excellent here
Didn’t used to be a fan of Howie but he’s grown on me and now I like the energy and enthusiasm he brings. Handled this chat with AB really well. Best wishes to AB, frikkin’ legend!
yeh im not a fan usually. but spot on. he handled it superbly. well done buddy
@@richardpate8014 his podcast is honestly one of the best in my opinion. Genuinely just feels like a bloke who is a fan that got a job chatting to people he’s interested in!
"First of all: how are you doing, mate?"
You just gotta love the Australians
Mate, cobba…O dear…
As an Englishmen in his 40s, AB is one of my all time favourite cricketers and sportsmen. Loved his toughness rebuilding Australia, the ultimate competitor. Good luck AB, fight this harder than you fought us in the 80s. Great great man.
i was privilege to play all my high school cricket with Allan, opening up together...classES above us all back then. all the best
You lucky bugger, must be incredible to see what he became.
An utter icon from my childhood. God Bless you Alan. Very best wishes from all your English fans.
As a Pom , Border was one of my heroes. It’s good to see him so positive and knowing he has great family , friends and medical support. It’s also humbling to see him standing and talking about Parkinson’s for greater awareness. Here’s to you Mr. Border… what a gentleman🫡
A great man! Total respect from NZ...all the best AB!
My favourite cricketer. Total respect for AB. What a honest interview. Thank you Mark Howard for your thoughtful and frank questions - and AB for being AB.
Alan Border is the Aussie batsman this Pom has most admired in 50 years of watching cricket. His batting was gritty, nuggety, flinty, and stubborn as hell. He played the percentages and parlayed a few scoring shots into a world-class cricket career. I am glad to see he is doing OK after his Parkinsons diagnosis. I admire him for going public with this. It raises the profile of this disease and helps with the fundraising for its cure. I want to wish him all the best. Keep fighting AB!
Hear hear !!
As a kid living in the country with no tv listening to cricket on a am radio this man literally as captain brought back Aus cricket with guts and leadership we all talk about way too much now. He was the real deal. Had a lump in my throat listening to this. Thanks AB...
Well said
I just broke down and cried mate - this man was my hero and in my opinion is the GOAT - at age 54 I'm glad I still feel emotions ... AB meant a lot to me from the age of 7 or 8 and he obvoiusly had that effect on you too :)
Beautiful Man with beautiful memories 🎉🎉🎉❤ Love you Sir AB
Absolutely. Best comment here. Love this man
Thank you for that Fox Cricket and Allan Border. What a man. He was my favourite growing up in the 80’s. I wish AB all the best
Such a brilliant and touching interview. I appreciate the transparent and humane discussion about Parkinson's. It is educational and life-affirming. Thank you Mark and Allan for this exchange. God bless you. 😊❤
One of the true greats 👍 as an Essex CC fan I had the privilege of watching AB in 2 spells in the 80s, brilliant man, leader, handling this news in style and class as expected, best of luck mate 👏 👍 👌
Like many Aussie kids AB was a hero of mine growing up and I have been fortunate to spend some time with him as an adult.
He is facing this challenge in the impressive way you expect AB would - a wonderful person and a great Australian.
Man I'd love to get in touch with AB personally, just to thank him and offer encouragement. He doesn't know it, but he had a big impact on my career. In fact, he was the turning-point. AB was the man for the times during the toughest period Australian cricket ever endured. You have to love the bloke. His qualities earned him a legendary cricket career, but those qualities transcended cricket. There's not a better man in any field of life you'd want next to you in the trenches.
Lots of love for this man!!! He is one of the real greats of the game. My heartfelt prayers and good wishes. He seems to be in good humor. And love his appreciation for Wasim Akram. Given a chance, he wants to be born as Wasim!!!! I don't know if any cricketer can have a better line of appreciation than that coming out of the legend Allan Border.
Big shock, I didn't know that AB had been diagnosed with Parkinsons. Wishing him all the best and he'll fight it as hard as he fought on the cricket field.
Loved AB growing up. Wish you well AB.
Being an Indian have supported the Australians in the WC87 against the English. Looking at him with Mark Howard you can see he's still wants to live, do things and wants to contribute which is the way he's always been as player and captain (Determined). I wish AB the best...
Wish you all the best in your current battle AB. Loved watching you play cricket as I was growing up and listening to you in commentary recently. You were a champion on the field and you continue to show your champion ways off the field.
Allan Robert Border - simply the 'GOAT' - great interview Mark Howard and AB you are the man - the only human to score 150 in both innings of a test match (Lahore 1980) and the one batsman that every team wanted to get back in the pavillion !!
Thankyou AB for a wonderful memory of watching you rebuild Australian Cricket in those days....you made sooo many Aussies happy with your cricket skills....I wish you all the best mate with this next battle you're a fighter for sure as that's obvious from your career....I am sure you will still fight this just like an opponent. I dont think it's a stretch to say every person who ever played cricket in this country has you and Jane in their prayers.
an australian stalwart , legend during his career, and after for the next generations. he cares so much about our sport and our country. god bless you mate. wish you all the very very best health for you and your family going forward.
One of Australia’s greatest sporting legends, he will be remembered as such.
Great warrior ,brave think tank of one Era. Nice to see AB Coming straight from his story with a great vibe .Good, he knew what's the issue was and kept moving forward .Take care AB we love you and our prayers with you. USA 🇺🇸 Srilankan/US community
AB is a wonder inspirational man who has given so much. I hope he has some wonderful years ahead.
Glad to see he's doing well with it considering he was diagnosed about 8 years ago. I didn't know he even had it. I'm 50 now so I remember his battles with our boys extremely well. Good luck to him.
What a legend! Grew up watching AB back in the Eighties battering England! All the very best m8! 😀
I wish and pray for AB speedy recovery and long and healthy life.
There is no cure for Parkinsons's....
Bat on, Allan. You always did it on the field and you can do it now too. All the best champ.
A.B. played cricket with guts, determination, and integrity as he still does after cricket .A.B. gave me & many others so much pleasure. Personally, I will never forget A.B. peformances on the paddock and the inspiration off. ...in an era of cricket without sandpaper or snivelling.Good luck, Allan.
Captain Grumpy! I've met you twice in my life after your cricket career... though I followed that with the amazement and admiration of every aussie.. your courage with your diagnosis is helping me through my recent adventures with heart failure and a minor stroke.. if there is no way out there is always a way through! Thank you, I can't play golf for crap but if you ever need a fishing partner? You're a legend!
Tough character, unbelievable batsman, brave as any. First time I’ve seen him look “old” which saddened me as it always does when your heroes fade. Not enough is made of his two innings in Trinidad in 84 against the peak of the W Indies. To me, the greatest innings he ever played.
Great Australian Cricketer, held Australia together through tough times. Good Luck !
What a great player he was. Superb cricketer and brilliant captain. He was a fighter on the field and he is managing his illness with the same bravery.
The gutsiest cricketer I have seen. Heard of him first in 1979. He and Graham Yallop were young and upcoming cricketers then. Huge respects to the way he rebuilt the Australian team after the departure of Marsh, Lillee and Chappell. Wish him the best in his next battle.
All the best My Favorite Aussie growing up and Great Captain
such a brave man - and a great cricketer. It is very kind of him to speak about such a personal issue, for the benefit of others.
Good luck for the future Alan Border an absolutely brilliant cricketer a true Australian great
Englishman here and just wanted to say best wishes to Allan. Was a great player and have great memories of some cracking England Australia matches.
Stay strong AB, you are my all time cricketing Hero ...you are a Gem for all cricketing nations around the globe...wish you good health and long life...Lots of respect from one of your biggest fans from India.
Wish you the best, AB! Lots of wonderful memories as 80s kid walking up at 5 am in my Mumbai home watching you and your invincibles keep beating the Indian team. Loved every bit of it... sorta. Love and best wishes.
Keep fighting the good fight AB. From a England supporter from Edgbaston !
♥and 🙏(Respect) for my True Aussie HERO....!!
Such a great interview. All the credit to AB and Howie!
One of the best and greatest sportsman, get well soon.
Wishing you all the best Allan , from an Essex cricket supporter , I still remember all the fantastic batting and slip fielding . Cheers .
Absolute Legend AB.
Wish you good health.
as a Pom who envied Australia for having Border and an Essex supporter who loved having him I just want to wish Allan all the best of luck with his disease. Who can forget his innings playing with a broken arm? Great competitor.
AB you are a legend. I hope a cure is around the corner for this terrible illness.
I remember AB was on Fox during the india tour in 2023 and he seemed really unwell. He looked and sounded great during this match.
Oh god, top bloke, sad but uplifting at the same time. AB, as and Indian cricket fan 'marooned' in the UK, you are a top bloke. Loved how you dished it out to the Poms! All the best, sport. And this is a great clip.
Allan a fighter and a hero to me. The Australian way I loved in him. Wishing him all the best. ❤
Allan Border and Allan Lamb, two of my favourite taches growing up. Best wishes to all 👊
As an Englishman this man caused me untold misery for which I can never forgive him. But what a cricketer, what a competitor and what a captain who pulled Australia out if the doldrums and turned them into a dominant force. Lovely job by the interviewer here too.
AB what a legend…keep the fight
Allan Border is a champion. May God bless him and his family.
One of the legends of Australian cricket. Best wishes to Allan for a long and healthy future, from an Englishman.
As a kid who grew up in England during the 80s I had to watch AB and his team destroy us in the Ashes. But he always behaved with integrity and upmost respect for the game. Easily one of the top 5 cricketers in my lifetime. Legend in life not just the cricket field.
Love and good luck to AB, one of those blokes who always had total (grudging) respect from all of us in England.
This will be a source of inspiration and support for many. Nicely done Allan Border.
I’m English and I Iove AB. He’s a man of integrity and dignity. Cricket has been the greater for him.
Really enjoyed listening to AB during this summer. Brian Lara mentioned that AB was his hero, and it wasn't long till Fox had the 2 of them on air at the same time.
My Mum had it . I’m devastated for AB . A fighter that’s for sure .if anyone can stand up to it for as long as possible mentally it’s him . I’ve seen close up the effects . The shakes are the least of it
England fan here but I love AB. Absolute great of the game. So much respect for him.
All the very best AB. Hope you recover soon and become fine .
AB a living Cricket Legend thanks for sharing, I witnessed my dad living with Parkinson's tough at times he was a avid cricket lover and lived to the ripe age of 89, as AB said no cure but we need to understand what those suffering with it go through, patience and lots of love required.
Mark Howard i will tip my hat to you forever, your faultless interview was flawless Big Fan
As a Pom, AB is one of my favourite cricketers, great player obviously but a even greater man
AB you are a great person kind in heart. God bless you and your loved ones forever. Takecare mate.
One of the greatest toughest competitors ever.Love you AB All the best legend
As a Pom he was always a thorn in our side but what a fantastic batsman and captain he was. My wife has Parkinson’s and I know the difficulties she has with it. Really good to see he’s doing his best to look after himself. Top bloke.
Allan border very much admired God bless
What warrior AB is. Sending him long distance good wishes.
Great to see the 1987 champion in good shape. Some great players of that time mcdermott boon Marsh. 1987 was so different. Love to see him healthy and good
Being on the same journey as AB his words and attitude are genuinely inspirational . Go well AB.
Outstanding interview, frank discussion, all credit to you AB
So sad to hear about this.
Keep battling AB, massive respect for fighting this in the public eye and inspiring others.
Good luck skipper all the way from England
So good to see you AB, u have always been a strong personality in any adversity. Stay well Mate.
As a 12 year old crick fan, v were in awe of alan in his early days- he used to play st drive coming forward, later on he was a more of a back foot player.
Great player. Outstanding captain. Lovely man. AB was solely responsible for the recovery of the Australian test team in the 1980's...... before Tubby took over. Subsequent skippers Steve Waugh and Punter had it easy in comparison. I saw Border play many times for the talented 1986 Essex County Champions that also included Graham Gooch, Keith Fletcher, John Stephenson, Paul Prichard, Derek Pringle, Neil Foster, John Lever, John Childs and a teenage Nasser Hussain. When Border returned to Australia in 1988, he paved the way for Mark Waugh who played more games for Essex than any other first class team.
Great interview. AB you deserve the best later life possible. Best wishes from the Uk.
As real a human being as you will ever find. An incredibly inspiring figure as the Australian Cricket captain whom during my younger years was blessed to witness first hand his tenacity of will and his competitive steely nature when faced with the likes of the west indies bowling attack. Always knew his presence at the crease was as formidable to his opponents as they were to him. A Great man whom we pray can see this illness slowly through, till his embrace with eternity. 🙏 Amen and Thank you
Allen.
Allan Border faced Windies quickies and didn't flinch. This interview took his bravery to another level. Well done mate.
I believe AB played a bit at my local cricket ground in his youth. Best regards and good health mate from Christchurch Downend.
Parkinson’s is one of the sad situations that a human being can go through. Especially in your old age. And the situation is more critical to the care takers as much as the ones suffering from it. I know how bad it can get. Hope modern medicine finds something of a breakthrough for Parkinson. Our prayers are with you Allan. 🙏🏼
Wish AB all the best. The Godfather of modern Australian cricket. Amazing human
Wishing Mr AB Great Health and Happy Life, great man, who revived the Aussies Cricket Fortunes wayback in 80s standing as a rock and helped to build the team. Pray God to be kind to good people.
Very thankful for the discussion in creating awareness about the Parkinsons.
Best Wishes to AB
Fantastic interview on a difficult subject. Kudos to AB on his openness.
My father recently passed away of parkinson, terrible terrible disease😢😢stay strong mate, keep your self active
Best wishes to the legendary Mr. Allan Border.
Best of luck AB, lots of love from Sri Lanka ❤
One of the greatest captains Australia produced . Wishing him well and hope there is a cure for this soon.
AB ruined many a summer for me growing up here in the UK! He was one hell of a player and Captain - a real S of a B. And I mean that with utmost respect Allan. He was the utmost fighter and winner. Give it your best AB. Respect to you.
What a legend! Wish you good health.
Even though the Aussie teams he captained stuffed us in the '89, '90/91, and '93 Ashes, I always liked AB. Hope he has many years still to come, despite this awful illness.
We talk about Sachin, Brian,Don,Ricky,
Viv,Kane and Virat but rarely speak about this Giant of the game. Allan Border. What he did for Australian cricket is unmatched. A true Legend
Brave AB will stand up to this.. Prayers for you ❤
Great, great man and part of the landscape of my entire childhood - and my entire life actually.
How he's not Sir Alan Border is beyond me (only speaking as Pom, of course: maybe he turned it down!).
I just wish this all time greatest of Australians and cricketers all the very best of health and happiness despite this latest unwelcome challenge.
I appreciate your admiration for Border and that you want his achievements honoured in the best of spirits. But Australia is not England and, correctly, has not had your imperial honours system for decades. Because of this, he could never be called ‘Sir’ even if he were knighted under the British system. Deservedly, he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) as far back as 1989, which is the second highest honour an Australian can receive. Happily, we long ago also dispensed with the anachronisms ‘knight’ and ‘dame’ under the Order of Australia honours system, except for a brief period under the absurd prime ministership of an English-born imbecile. You’re welcome to keep your anachronistic titles - and your monarchy - to yourself. We Australians, including Border, can manage perfectly well without them.
