One of Skull's best stories is about playing with Imran Khan. According to Skull, Imram arrived a few minutes late to the game, already in his whites, in a sports car with a young, blonde female companion in the passenger seat and left seconds after his involvement in the game was over. Sharing a room with Doug Walters is another.
As a Kiwi, I have to say I'm appreciative that the Aussie commentators and fans give recognition to Smithy. He's certainly a huge part of New Zealand's cricket history having kept to the great Sir Richard Hadlee for so long and having been a mainstay of New Zealand's first great cricket era. He was a very very good keeper also. Possibly the best gloveman of his era and a handy batsman. I was watching the commentary of the just completed NZ v SA era. They were saying that when asked players of his era couldn't recall Smith dropping catches and making mistakes during his career. That's how good he was. They stated that he probably only had a couple of drops in his time with NZ. I've also heard Brad Haddin say very complimentary things about Smithy's skill behind the stumps.
@@MrT67 he’s a top wicketkeeper and an excellent commentator. He deserves all of the recognition he gets. As an Aussie, I respect what NZ are able to achieve from such few resources (particularly with respects to the population). Yes, the first thing I do when I meet a kiwi abroad is give them stick, but that’s because they can take a joke. We have a lot more in common than we have that’s different.

That NZ team that won in OZ, also beat the Windies in '82. But they were such a group of fighters .... watching those games, it came through the TV just how hard they fought. It's rare that an Aussie team gets beaten on attitude. Hadlee and co came here full of intent. You need big personalities and those big personalities need to beat Aussie's big personalities. India's pace attack out performed our guys in the last 2 series here. BTW John Dyson's catch in the outfield ...... the all time best.
Four Day Test Matches I would only accept if they still meant the same amount of playing time as Test matches scheduled all my life, which is 30 hours for two innings match. If 30 hours over four days in day/night Test match I am more than ok with it. Kerry Packer did that with SuperTests during World Series Cricket when I first started watching cricket as a kid in late 70's. First two sessions in day light and last session after 40 minute tea break was under lights for 3.5 hours which same amount of time the night session is for a day/night ODI. I still do not understand why recent day/night Tests do not do this already.
There’s more than enough money in the game to pay the top players what they’re worth, as much and more than what they make from pop up leagues. They’re choosing not to. Stop blaming the players for not choosing to make no money over making a lot, it’s ridiculous.
IND ENG obviously keep visiting AUS every other year. Apart from them, it will be teams like NZ, PAK at times touring AUS for a Test Series. Teams like SL,BAN,SA won't be touring AUS anytime soon for reasons we all know
@@vybhaveswaraiah7114 I understand where OP is from though. Traditionally, this period of the year is when Australians properly focus on the cricket. When this period isn’t interesting, it reduces interest in the game.
@@biharigamer4369 always like seeing India in Australia. We’d rather lose a close series than win so comfortably that it’s actually boring. It was a pleasure beating India in two finals in 2023.
Get the two-faced Kiwi out of the shot. Ian Smith grits his teeth and politely smiles when he’s on the Aussie payroll but back in Kiwiland he takes every opportunity to slag off our cricketers.
That's because your cricketers are wankers. I live in the UK, they think your cricketers are wankers too. Can you guess what the Saffas and Indians think of your cricketers aswell?.....
Do people actually find this funny? Christ I’m not sure how you can laugh at your own jokes so much and continually attract attention. Probably why nobody watches test cricket in Australia. But like union on its arse.
this is one of the best lunch breaks ive ever seen
I love Skulls stories, hilarious bloke and Smithy and Vaughan compliment him so welll

An Australian a Kiwi and an Englishman 😂 the banter is top tier 😂
Fox has the best commentators
Really love the Fox Cricket team. Ian Smith has been a fantastic addition
Ian Smith is superb
Smith and Kerry together should be regulars for lunch breaks.😂😂
I love Smithy. Underrated. He lets Skull take the spotlight but he has plenty of good stories too.

gold! love smithy on the crew now

Skull is the greatest and funniest commentator of all time!! Should have been knighted years ago.😂😂
You guys are fabulous ❤😂
Smithy is absolutely right! The commentary in NZ is just gone south
Smithy runs rings around anybody else here in New Zealand at the moment in regards to New Zealand cricket commentary.
How good was this trip? Man I love skull and Smithy but Vaughny is great too!!!
This is Zinger central from Skull.
Curtly Ambrose picking himself in his all time Windies XI 🤣🤣
He can because he's one of the best......
Forget about Windies 11 he can be in all time 11
It would be criminal to not have him in the all time world xi alongside Marshall and Akram, leave alone a windies XI
He's probably the best of all of them. It'd look silly if he didn't.
Skull needs to put pen to paper…his biography would be absolutely awesome
Just the right amount of mentions of "Wank Forrell" LOLLLLLL

Nice to see the Aussies giving the legend Vaughany a break on the telly...after that little rat in Yorkshire tried to ruin him!
A Pom and a kiwi thinking, I don’t want to lose a day’s pay 😂
Jesus, they’d never get away with half that stuff here on Sky Sports in the uk!
We need a world commentary team.

A kiwi, aussie and a pom, how ot should be
Disagree. The answer is pay test cricketers well
Keep it 5 days
Agree, especially in the Caribbean
I think the Lads forgot that Don Bradman existed when they picked there greatest ever players🤷♂️🤦
If Steve O'Keefe's nickname is SOK, what should Skull's be...
Rich cricket boards needs to do more. ICC and boards needs to pay crickters more.
This wasn't even a 4 day test. I hope T20 happy, they have literally killed test cricket
People will like the 4 day tests and then want 5 days back when they lose days due to rain and games are drawn
Mickey is hosting ?
Recall Kerry to the test team. Why are we waiting?
Did Smithy say shithouse or was I hearing things...

Get rid of test championship. Tests will again start to last 4-5 days

Test cricket needs a trophy - period. 10 teams - home & away games each year. Easy.
