    Did my 2nd HD cable replacement today. Previous one lasted 18 months. This video is wonderful. Took 15 minutes ... 7 of which were getting the ribbon cable inserted. Thanks for getting the part to me quickly and great video!!

    Great video!! Very easy to follow and great explanation of steps! Bought the cable off of Amazon for $20. Took me 10 minutes to install and my MacBook is working like new again! Many thanks!:-)

    Thank you very much!
    I decided against bending and just put it back together as carefully as I could. I suggest people following this guide do the same. I’ve stuck a 3mm piece of tape on the top corner so it will stay still.
    I thought it was better then bending such fragile cable.

      I backed up my files on an external. I don't trust Time Machine anymore. I also need to upgrade my RAM. I'm definitely shopping you all for all my Mac needs.

    Really simple steps. This video should have more view and likes . Thank you 🙏. Job done under ten quids. Please make sure you check the unifying number before you order your unibody cable.

    Managed install myself despite partial paralysis of my hands. Re-inserting tiny LED ribbon cable was the hardest part. Installed a SSD which fit easily. Used electrical tape on case under cables to avoid abrasion issue. New cable was $10 on eBay. (HDD Hard Drive cable 821-0814-A For MacBook Pro 13" A1278 2009 2010 &Screwdriver).

    thanks, great video! though i've followed your steps but the cable still seem to be corrupt. i've bought a new ssd disk and cable on my macboor pro (2011). wanna install mac again. the disk utility recognizes the samsung drive, though it's not been found when I have to designate a startup disk. what to do :)? thanks for the awesome support guys

    • @ProjectPassionfruit
      @ProjectPassionfruit 7 років тому

      nope. thanks, you're quick! :) will give it another go.. it recognizes the old HD so i recon this should be the trick.. will get back to you if i'm a step further

      i'm lost in the labyrinth ;) can i just format it using another macbook? disk utilities > erase?

    i've ordered this cable. I've upgraded to a SSD and within few months the problem started. The system will randomly "freeze". If I'm playing a video or a song, it will freeze but then after 5 seconds or so I will resume but as if it never stopped. I mean, if I'm singing a song, and I keep on singing, when the system unfreezes it will be playing exactly in the part of the song that I'm singing to. So I think it's not a SSD problem, but a problem of the cable. What do you think?

    Just did this today and I get the same results as prior to replacing the cable, The flashing folder with the question mark is still there! Is my hard drive bad?

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  3 роки тому

      Yes, a flashing folder with a question mark indicates that the machine cannot find an OS. If you've replaced the cable and get the same results, then we would suspect the drive next.

    Thanks for the great video. However, after hours of trying, I cannot get the yellow ribbon cable back into the socket. I do not understand what I'm doing wrong. I cannot even see a socket. I have checked and I have the correct model replacement cable for my 13-inch MacBook Pro, 2011: 821-1226-A.

    Is the flex cable you're using here the same as model 821-2049-A? I have a 2011 Mac A1278, but another video I watched on how to do this was for Mac 13" mid-2012--same part compatible? Thanks for the video!

      Hello Woody, occasionally these cables stop working, your computer would not be able to recognize the drive and your computer wouldn't be able to boot.
